Tribute To Mathilde
It’s hard to say goodbye. I went up there yesterday, before
work. I just had to see her again. Out in the sunshine
with her kids. I got a glimmer of hope. I asked Kurt
when he thought Mathilde would leave. And he said that
they were coming to see her around 11 am. And he said
that they hadn’t decided if they were going to buy her
or not. They were coming to look at her. I had to go
to work. All day I was hoping that they would not buy
her. But who could say no to Mathilde? When I got back
to the playground she was gone. Along with Nougat and
Mandela. Nothing to do.
Heart-breaking now to hear 3B and Vanilje baah. And no
Mathilde to respond. No mother. They’re big enough to
handle themselves now, but it’s still such a sad
thought. Poor little goats. Poor little me.
I posted these in my livejournal and in my goat community. And now I will post them here. A selection of pictures of Mathilde. To remember the good times.
The first picture I ever took of her. Back in 2004.
With Magnethe.
Also Katherine made THIS. Beautiful. I’m sorry that I’m a little behind in answering comments and such, but you know I appreciate your words. I love you all.

My favorite photo that you posted above is the one where you’re hugging her. She has a great big smile on her face. There was so much love there.
I also loved the photo that Katherine made. Maybe you can use it to replace the one you have now. It will be a wonderful tribute to Mathilde.
It’s going to be so difficult to not see her or Nouget and Mandela anymore. I’ll miss them very much.
I’m going to be sad for a long, long time…:(

OMG so adorable how she had her hoof on you… she was just a youngin when you first met her eh? I once saw someone out here who rescued an abandoned baby goat in the horse trails, took the goat with them in the car everywhere they went and it trotted alongside her bucking & carrying on as if he was a dog. She had to take baby everywhere so she could bottle feed. He was so cute.
Btw I found this thing and it seems a plumelike thing to have, well diaryland plume had all sorts of things like this anyways: technorati.com

I like the photo Katherine made, too. Mathilde looks so pretty in her pictures. I like her “winter coat” when she’s really furry looking.
I spent a little extra time with our two pygmy goats (John Boy & Billy) tonight, just thinking about Mathilde. I enjoy watching them eat their hay and petting them. They were laying down in the shade on their spools when we came home from work.
Plume, by the way, how is Mads? Is he still grounded or is he being a good goat now?
Has any of the other regular visitors to the playground missed Mathilde yet? Maybe you’d want to talk to them a little, just to let them know about her leaving. They might miss her, too and you’d be helping them by talking about her.

Mathilde is a Queen, a real Lady, gentle and sweet. My favourite pictures are this one http://plume.dk/pics/displayimage.php?pos=-2649 and this one http://plume.dk/pics/displayimage.php?pos=-2291. You made such a difference in her life and she let only you in to her world. I really hope you get to see her again sometime. Maybe you can train the remaining goats to behave badly in front of prospective buyers so no one will ever buy them. Mads probably won’t need to attend classes though! :) Because of you, the playground has come to be special to all of us even though we’re thousands of miles away.

Thank you all. You’re the best.
Luis, I love that photo too. I hope I haven’t brought you down too much. Mathilde wouldn’t want us all to be sad forever.
Kat, goat kids are so much like little puppies. Awesomeness.
Deb, Mads is still grounded. Although I expect that he’ll be out again soon, now there’s more room for everyone. I have talked to some of the kids about Mathilde. I’m sure I’ll get the chance as more people inquire.
Florida Girl, and I loved her, very much.
Katherine, I was talking to Pernille about Mathilde leaving and she said something like “but we better never sell Mads” and I said “no, you’ll have to sell me along with him then”. We are a package deal.
