There’s No Place Like Home
Phew. I just got done with the paperwork for my rent support application. That’s some complicated calculating, I can tell you. But I got it done at least. One more thing to cross off the list, as the move gets ever closer.
I’ve had a couple of minor setbacks. I mentioned that I was going to sign up with Stofa for my intarwebs. Turns out they can’t provide the connection solution that I was wanting to get. The 20/1 mbit. Too bad. But I’m signing up with Cybercity instead, which is also our current ISP. And hopefully they can deliver. I have to get the “solo broadband” though, in order to get cheap 20mbit. That means I’m not allowed to call their support. I have to make it all work with the info I can get at their website and their guides. But I’m confident I can make that work okay. So no biggie.
The second setback is a litte more serious. I was under the impression that I’d get more money when I moved out on my own. But I won’t. I’ll be getting the same amount. So things will be a little tighter financially than I had expected. But hopefully the rent support can help out a little. And then my retirement, when it comes. So it’s no disaster. I’ll probably hold off and wait buying that brandspanking new computer I was planning on getting. At least till I’m sure I’ll get the retirement. But no worries.
In the meantime, playground pictures.
A headless mother geese. Or so it would seem. But I suspect the head might be hidden somewhere under there.
Nice and sunny today. The geesers cooled off in the little pool.
I love watching them play in the water. Putting their heads under, splashing themselves with water.
It makes me want to go swimming. And the geeselings are so big. Well, two of them are. Two of them are practically as big as the parents now. And then there’s the last one who is noticably smaller.
Mads in the hay. It almost looks like he’s trying to hide. But he’s just diving in and munching on the hay. It must be nice to be able to lie down in your food so you can eat and relax at the same time!
Funny shot of Magnethe. I like it, even though she’s out of focus.
And rounding off with Vanilje.
Now it’s late and I’m tired. I have spent too much time looking at pay slips and tax records and application papers. Time to head to bed, methinks.
The Wizard Of Oz just ended as well. It was on Swedish telly. Can you believe I have never watched it before? Wow. Multiple.. so many pop-cultural references suddenly make sense.

“I’ll get you my pretty and your little dog, too”! AHAHAHAHAHAH “Follow the yellow brick road”, follow the YELLOW BRICK road, FOLLOW THE YELLOW BRICK ROAD”
“If I only had a brain”. “I’m melting”! “There’s no place like home, there’s no place like home.”
“Toto, we’re not in Kansas any more.” “Aunty Em, Aunty Em!”
(Somewhere Over the Rainbow always makes me cry. I’ve seen the show many, many times. I was never afraid of the flying monkeys, I was a brave kid. Maybe not too bright as I didn’t realize she was just having a dream, I thought it really happened!)

Debster – I get the impression that you’re fan of the Oz. I don’t know why, it’s just a subtle feeling I’m picking up!
I loved all the colours. The contrast between the “real world” and Oz. And Somwhere Over The Rainbow is a very beautiful song. Incidentally The Smashing Pumpkins often incorporated it in their live version of the sprawling Silverfuck song, although that’s a bit of a different atmoshpere.
Those monkeys kinda freaked me out, you’re a brave adult as well!
Stu – I can still humm the tune!

I watched Wizard of Oz every year it came on TV for thirteen straight years when I was a kid. And I’ve watched it many times as an adult. It is one of the few movies I can quote lines from and sing songs.
My husband, on the other hand, remembers movie lines, trivia, etc., on just about every movie he’s ever seen. (Remember this is the man who can’t find the paint brush he just had in his hand.) He has watched “Jaws” so many times, he even knows the shark’s dialogue! “Circle, circle, dive, dive, CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP!

Debster – Did the Shark get nominated for an oscar that year? With dialogue like that I don’t see how it could not have been!
