Star Me Kitten
I did not feel too well when I woke up today. A little down. But I managed to tear myself out of bed and I went and did some shopping. That helped my mood. It’s better for me when I get out a bit. When I have meetings like at TMU or furniture shopping with my dad. I love living alone and I love my appartment, but there is always the danger of isolation and “what’s the point” feelings. Getting out helps getting rid of those.
Tomorrow I have the meeting at the playground. With the friendly Kurt and Paw. Friday the furniture will be delivered. Monday I have an appointment with the physio at TMU. So there is stuff to do. That’s good. Also I may be on the verge of securing myself a kitten. The wonderful Desirée has offered me kittens, and I think I’m close to accepting. My original thought was to get a cat from a shelter, because I would feel more comfortable with that. But these particular kittens will be put down if no one adopts them… Hard to say no then. And also if I do adopt one and then happen to mess it up completely, as my insecure fantasies threaten, then at least the kitten got a chance at life. Even if I turn out to be a horrible cat owner, at least it got more of a break than if I hadn’t adopted it. Even if I fail, at least I tried to do a good thing. Plus seeing a little kitten grow like that would be wonderful. It’ll be a couple of months before the kittens are ready to leave home. By then maybe I will feel up to the job! It’s exciting and scary, like all the best things are. We’ll see how it goes.
That’s all for today. Be safe and be you.

Kittens make life so much brighter! I have a dog, yet I’d give anything to be able to have a kitten too :) There’s something amazingly special about cats and the way they bond with their owners. Cats love you, that’s for sure. That was very obvious by the way the cat that used to visit you trusted you. They feel when they’re appreciated and give back ten times more than you could ever wish for. With a furry friend like that your flat will feel cosier than ever cause cats make everything seem cosy when I think about it :) And also make you smile constantly and remind you of that playful inner child that lives in our heart. Hope all goes as planned and you’ll have a little cute furball keeping you warm and singing sweet serenades by the fridge in a couple of months :)

Plume, you cannot mess up a kitten. It is not in your being. Trust me. Kittens, just like goats, come with their own personalities. It is mainly important to socialize the kitten with humans as early as possible.
We have tamed our barn kittens, and I do mean “tamed”. If they aren’t socialized when they are young, it is harder, but not impossible to tame them down. Kittens without human contact go wild very quickly. A baby kitten, will automatically hiss/spit at you when it is very, very little. That’s how it is hard-wired to survive. It doesn’t mean it hates you, it just wants to make sure you don’t eat it!
You will do fine with a kitten. It would be helpful to you and the kitten, if you would talk to it out loud so it gets used to your voice. So when you call “kitty, kitty, kitty” it associates the sound with good things – like food or being petted/groomed!
I have seen you with the goats, with Nina, and with Moomincat. The animals don’t lie, they like you and there is a reason why. You will do fine with a kitten that really needs a good home.

Now, don’t be shilly. Cats basically take care of themselves. So as long as you change their litter box and feed them everyday and give them some hugs and love they will live a long and happy life.

From what I gather they can be hard work to start with (house training etc.) but very rewarding. If you get the early years right, you’ll have a great friend who you can tell _anything_ to, and you’ll never need an alarm clock again – you will be automatically woken at breakfast time!

Good luck!

When I was a tiny tot, my uncle told me that he used to have a friend that had a dog without any legs.
I asked my uncle if his friend took his dog for a walk.
“No” my uncle said. “He take it out for a ‘drag.'”
After that I didn’t see my uncle for the longest time. He went to a sanitarum for an extended “vacation” and when he came out he seemed much more happier.
He never stopped smiling.
Now, he lives with relatives in Los Angeles and makes bracelets out of pipe cleaners.
So every time I see a weiner dog, I sigh and think of my uncle.

Milla – My inner child is looking very much forward to having a kitten to play with! I’m sure it’s going to be a real joy.
Debster – I am going to make sure to tell my kitten that I don’t intend to eat it! I hope it will understand hehe. I’m sure I will do okay with the kitty yes. Having responsibility of a little life like that is still scary to me. But I’m sure it will all go well. I can’t wait!
Luislemmings – Hugs and love, I’m pretty sure I have plenty of that to spare! I have been saving up for a while.
You give me lots of smiles, I am almost like your uncle these days.
Stu – Haha! THat’s my kind of alarm. Funnily enough I have been having trouble with my alarms, the new one I bought was too loud and bright. Then I bought a real cheap one but it ticks and tocks and is not bright enough. So now I’m using my cell phone as an alarm, but I can’t tell the time at night without “activating” the screen, which is a bother if I just want a glance of the time. Oh the troubles I see! A kitten will solve everything!
