How To Save A Life

Not the best of days today. Felt tired and lonely. I have been having problems getting out of bed lately. Always needing a little more time.. a little more time. If I’m not careful the day will be gone before I know it.

It’s not all bad, though. I digged up the goat on Lost. I miss Lost. February can’t come soon enough.

And then I made a tribute video for Vanilje. http://youtube.com/watch?v=XpvVEw-wDzA. It is only fair, after Mathilde, Mads and Magnethe all got one. Vanilje is so sweet and wonderful. Especially after she came back from her vacation at Kurt’s place in the beginning of the year. She came back and brought much life and energy and happiness. I love the way she runs around and jumps up on things. She is definitely a sweetie. The song is Bring The Light by the Smashing Pumpkins. It’s far from their best or classiest song. But I figured for Vanilje I’d pick an up-tempo number. She does bring the light.

I love seeing her from little newborn to now, how her face has developed with the dark lines. Make sure you watch it (if you decide to watch it, that is) to the (surprise) ending.

Remember how proud I was of my purchase of Spirited Away on DVD for only 30 kroners? I had a closer look today and found that it doesn’t have English audio! What the hell?! Why would they do that? It only has Danish and Japanese audio. It’s not a kiddy cartoon. I cannot stand when things are dubbed in Danish. I’m glad I don’t live in Germany where they dub everything. In Denmark we usually only dub children’s stuff. It always annoys me because there seems to be about 4-5 voice actors who are used for EVERYTHING. I can’t get past that. Luckily I think I will be able to watch the DVD with the Japanese audio and Danish subtitles and I think I will be able to stand that. Although I’d much prefer the English audio. I just don’t get why they wouldn’t include it, it’s not like they’d have to dub it themselves. The English audio has been done already. Why not include it? Maybe they’d have to pay for the rights. Maybe that’s how they could release it for 30 kroners…

Oh well. Life goes on.

It’s cold. I’m wearing my sweater. I really should turn on the heat. I’ve been freezing all day, and it’s not helping my mood. Rather it makes me want to curl up under the warm blanket. Under there I find safety and dreams that offer so much more than life could ever.

Must knock myself on the head to beat out those silly thoughts.

Tomorrow I shall go feed the animals. And they will bring the light.

I really didn’t like the English audio on Spirited Away. I watch in Japanese with English subs.

It doesn’t happen to have Finnish audio does it? I’d gladly swap if it does :)

No, I don’t like it when they dub foreign movies in English.

And they have dubbed “Spirited Away” in English. I love hearing foreign languages and luckily I have seen SA in its orginal Japanese. I don’t mind reading the subtitles in English.

Ironically, I have been looking for it here in San Diego and in Los Angeles. I think I haven’t been looking hard enough because I could never find it. I guess I have to buy it online.

You’re so lucky to get it!! I LOVE that movie!

Oh my! What a great video of Vanilje. You have captured so much of the “goatiness” of Vanilje. I feel I would know her in a minute if I met her somewhere. That sounds silly, but it’s true.

She was so little and so white. I like how her face has darkened up along with the streaks and her horns were just little nubs and now so much longer. She has such a great stance, she poses like a show goat would.

I watched our three goats eating hay this afternoon. My husband is away on a trip thru next week. Billy noticed someone was missing yesterday and really got upset when my husband didn’t come out to visit. Much angry, questioning baaaing going on.

Today Frankie went out of the barn (to get a drink, I thought). He didn’t come back and just as I was going to see what he was up to, he started baaaing softly while looking up at the house. John Boy knows something is up, but he hasn’t said anything yet. He’s the quietest of all three goats anyway. Even Buddy the parrot was looking around the house for my husband. Everyone (me included) will be glad when he returns.

Meanwhile, I will enjoy this goatly attention all to myself. Besides whoever has the peanuts is loved the most at the time anyway.

I live under a rock, so don’t know anything about “Spirited Away”. Note to self: must get out of the barn more often!

    You must rent it!

It’s one of Japan’s best animated movies. I hesitate to call it a cartoon because it’s nothing how Americans do animation.

Also, animals have this keen sense when a significant other is not around. Someone from their troop is missing!!

Stu – Guess I was lucky after all then ;)
    No Finnish though.

LuisLemming – It’s definitely a wonderful movie. Guess I shan’t complain now that I get to see it with the original audio then.

Debster – I love sharing the goats, I love knowing that people all over the world know them. I wonder what they’d say if they knew about that. WEll, I guess I’ll ask them sometime!
How nice that the goats are missing your husband. He can’t say he’s not appreciated at home!
Today I let Mads out while I was feeding the animals. He’s still in a booth of his own because of the buck’s visit. So I thought it’d be nice for him to get out. He went out and looked around and saw that there was no one around (the playground being closed and all) and then walked back inside. I think he prefers to have company, even if he likes to pretend that he’s all macho and the girls are just annoying. I see right through him.
You should definitely check out Spirited Away. It’s a rather magic little thing, I do declare.
