How I Met Your Plume

Not a lot going on these days.

I have had trouble sleeping the last couple of nights. So last night I went to bed late, in the hope that I would be more tired. And it worked. So maybe I have turned things around. That would be nice. Yes indeed.

The painting is still going on outside my door.

paint

Which is there, my door. In the back. You can see the green around it. That’s the old colour. Green with white sort of speckles. They’re painting over that, with another green. Although the new paint there almost looks white. Very, very, very, very light green. But I guess that’s a grounding layer. More green will come over it. Or something. I’m not a painter, don’t ask me to explain it!

There’s still a plastic sheet over my door. With a gap at the mail slot. But my peephole is covered. That annoys me. I have come to like my peephole. Every time I walk past the door I cozy up to the door and peek out through the hole. And since my bathroom is next to the door I get to peek out every time I have to go to the bathroom. And with my drinking problem that happens a lot. Anyway, I find it funny to peek out. Most of the time I just see an empty hallway. Then sometimes I’ll get paranoid and half expect a gang of young thugs to be standing outside, cocking their guns and preparing to slam my door in. Or building a fire in the hallway, throwing gasoline around. Or if I get really worked up then I start to imagine that there will be some kind of BOB-from-Twin-Peaks-like demon slinkering up the stairs towards my appartment. Eep! You know that fisheye effect can be rather creepy.

I haven’t actually seen any demons yet though. Sometimes I’ll see some real people walk by and then I’ll feel like quite the spy. But right now I can’t peep at all. I hope they’ll be done painting soon.

They’re all out of giant santas in the supermarket, by the way. Been gone for a week or so. They were popular! I wonder if people will throw them out when christmas is over, like christmas trees. Probably not.

Debster asked about dreamcake. This is dreamcake. I love the topping. I usually eat most of the topping before I get halfway through the bottom layer. Reminds me of that muffintop episode of Seinfeld. If they started selling dreamcake topping then I’d be a happy camper. Bit of better picture.

Who knows what dreams may come.

Dreamcake looks good. Did you make it yourself? We use cups, teaspoons, tablespoons, etc., for units of measure. Not sure how to convert the measurements in the recipe to what I’m familiar with.

I found a temperature converter on-line so I can tell you what our Fahrenheit temp is to your Celsius, but not sure where to find a cooking measurement converter. I’d like to try that dreamcake. I’m surprised you like coconut, I’m not sure why I would think you didn’t. Silly me!

Does your “visitator” come to see you on Monday? Hope your sleep patterns return to normal and you’re up and about and ready to visit. Maybe fix him some tea or coffe or soda while he’s there. Just to brush up on your hosting skills. Make it low-key so you won’t be too nervous.

I’m making a cinammon, raisin, apple bread pudding recipe today. It starts with a box mix and I added the cinammon, raisins, apples, vanilla, milk and eggs. I just love bread pudding and like to try different ones when we go out to eat. There are so many variations to try.

We aren’t working today and I’m lazy. Need to start addressing Christmas cards and maybe getting a few decorations out.

Will you be singing the “Greens with Kermit the Frog” instead of the “Blues” after you are painted? ha, ha

(I wonder if that is a primer that’s going on the dark green color so when the lighter color is applied it will cover better? Are they brush and rolling in on or are they spraying it on with a sprayer? Inquiring painters want to know.)

Are you feeling okay, Plumey? You don’t sound like yourself. I’m concerned.

  3. Plume Says:

Debster – Don’t worry, I’m quite alright. Not feeling very inspired, writing-wise. Maybe that’s what’s wrong. Or did you mean I sounded like Elmer Fudd perhwhaps?

I did not make the dreamcake myself. I bought it in the bakery in the big shopping center around the corner. My mother makes a good dreamcake, but i have never tried it myself. I mean, never tried making one. I have tried eating my mother’s cake ofcourse. And succeeded as well!
If you want to try out the recipe then “tsp” means teaspoon. “dl” is deciliter And “g” is a gram of course. Do you have grams in America?
You know what? I’m not actually that fond of coconut. Apart from in this topping. I think it’s the brown sugar that makes it work, for me!

No visitator this Monday. But next Monday he’ll be there. I’m sleeping better now, so that hopefully won’t be a problem. Then I’ll see if I can find something to serve him up. Maybe some coconuts!

I don’t actually know what a bread pudding is. They seem like two very different things. Bread. And pudding. One is hard, one is wobbly. Right? Hmm. I don’t know much about desserts I guess. Or deserts either.

I’ll be singing “the greys” with Mads I think!

Your paint theory sounds reasonable. I think they are spraying some parts but “brushing” the most. I haven’t actually really watched them work, so I’m not sure. They have my peephole covered so I can’t even spy on them!
