If Trees Were Fishes
So I’m lying in my bed, taking a nap. Resting after a hard couple of days. And suddenly my appartment starts shaking and loud machines thunder outside. So much for that nap.
I’m not sure exactly what it is they’re doing. But they’re digging outside my appartment. And I mean, literally right outside. They cut down the tree outside my window. That’s pretty sad. My view is greatly reduced in glory. Only memories now. They better not be cutting down the trees in the green area between the blocks. I don’t think they are, but as I said I’m not sure exactly why they’re digging in the first place. They always talk about making the neighbourhood better and more attractive. I don’t see how cutting down trees is going to help that.
I got a notice that they’re turning off the heat and the hot water tonight at 6 pm. It will be back on “as soon as possible”. Maybe this digging thing is an “infrastructure” thing as well, maybe they’re digging up some pipes or something. Or maybe Saruman is cutting down all our trees for his warmachine. Sorry, no more politics. I swear.
So Monday was the meeting at the volunteer place. My visitator came and we took the bus downtown. Found the place okay. We were early, but it was no problem. The guy we were meeting with was called Jabbar. Seemed like a nice guy, although he was a little stressed because their coffee machine had been sabotaged. No coffee for us. Good thing I don’t drink coffee, eh? Anyway, he is the leader of this “volunteer center”. They do a lot of different stuff, and find volunteers for places and businesses that they work with. We had a good little talk about the place and about me and what I wanted and so on and so forth. And they’re going to try to find something for me to do. A couple of hours, one day a week. For starters. And something to do with computers or office work. So we’ll see. They’re moving to a new place in January, so when they’re settled in there then they’ll call me in. And he’ll have three things for me he said, three possible volunteer positions. They give everyone 3 choises. So we’ll see how that goes in January. Hopefully they can find me something nice, without too much pressure. I obviously don’t want to go to some busy workplace with tons of people and high demands. But something low-key, where I can get to go out and make myself useful a little. That wouldn’t be too bad. Maybe there are some goats that need someone to answer the phone for them?
We shall see.
Now for some resting and getting my strength back. These things drain me, as I might have mentioned. Now I’d just like a few days with nothing on the to-do-list. And no appartment-shaking machines either, please.
Oh, and I have it from a reliable source that my mother might just be cooking up soup this weekend. Oh boy! That’ll be like a fair feast all unto itself.

I hope there’s not a tree root problem with the water/sewer line system. That might be why the tree had to go. How do you go about finding out what’s going on?
The “volunteer center” sounds interesting. And that’s nice that you get three choices to decide on what you want to do. Sort of like three “wishes”.
See what happens when you leave LuisLemmings and I alone for a day or so? We start doing a silly duet together to the “Bump”! Made you laugh, didn’t it?? Admit it now, Plume!
Must go listen to The Carol of the Goat Bells AGAIN. hee, hee

Debster – I go about finding out by.. hmm, checking the housinge organization’s site I guess. Or waiting for them to tell me. Maybe I missed a notice or something.
Three wishes.. that’s nice. I wonder if he’ll laugh if I say “a pot of gold and diamonds”. Hmm. That’s not exactly “volunteer work”, but it’d make me happy!
You guyses always make me laugh. Sometimes intentionally too! Hehe, just teasing. You guys are my favourite comedic duo since Abott and Costello (whom I am too young to know, actually.)
