Love And Marriage
Life is a funny old thing, isn’t it? Yesterday I received bad news. Today it was good news. I guess. Sort of. Well, my parents are getting married.
How about that? In case you didn’t know, they’ve been together some.. 30 years? But not married. Which makes me a bastard, when you think about it. At least for another week. They’re getting married next Saturday. Just at the mayor’s office, or whatever you call it. Not a big wedding in a church or anything. I guess it’s more for legal and convenience reasons. Or something. I have many conflicting emotions on the issue, but since they both know of this blog, and at least my mother regular visits and reads as much as she can with her limited English, I do not really feel comfortable discussing it all.
I’m feeding animals next Saturday. I’m not sure I’ll be able to make it. Well, I’m sure I could make it work. But I don’t know if I really feel like it. I don’t think there’s going to be any real celebration either. Maybe they’ll invite me round for dinner. It’s just all so odd. I’m almost thirty, and my parents are getting married. Hah. Hmm.
And outside it is snowing.
I went out to drop off some paper waste and empty bottles. At the trash “island”. Dotted around the neighbourhood are these trash stations with recycling bins for paper and bottles and containers for trash too big to fit in the trash chutes in the buildings. So I figured that was a good excuse for going out for a walk in the snow. The weather forecast says it’ll get warmer tomorrow and there might be rain. So the snow might be gone all too soon.
Maybe I should go shopping for a tuxedo.
Life is weird, and my head hurts.

Yes, life is weird sometimes, isn’t it? Your parents have been pretty nice about helping you with your move, etc., and you have been getting along better with them, more on equal terms now, I think.
I think it would be a very “adult” thing of you to go to the wedding ceremony if your parents indicate they would like you to be there.
In fact, I think if you went as the “official photographer”, it would be very nice. It would take your mind off the social phobia thing as you would be concentrating on getting some candid pictures.
You could have some of the photos developed at the store, get a nice inexpensive frame and voila! You have a nice heartfelt present for your parents.
It would probably only be for a few hours and you can do anything for that period of time. Besides it will make for a unique story-telling experience. Not many children can say they witnessed their parents’ wedding!
As always, my dear danish goat boy, this is my opinion/advice. Which you didn’t ask for and don’t need to take. I will not be mad or upset or anything else on whatever you decide to do. Also I’m sure Jannie would cover for you at the playground, as you have covered for her many, many times in the past.
PS: Great night snow pictures! Did you see any animal tracks? We have one or two wild rabbits around here, but you’d think there were a couple million of them by the numbers of tracks they leave!

I’ve been under the weather this week and I’ve missed much!
I’m terribly sorry about your uncle, but at least they were able to discover the cancer early. That’s the most important of all.
Congratulations on your mother and father getting married. Debster has the great idea of you taking photos of the wonderful occassion and then framing them. I’m sure they’ll be very happy to receive them as gifts.
And you’re right, life does have a funny way of making things really weird, difficult, hard, and fun all rolled into one.
But we’re little boats in the ocean. We need to weather the times when the waves are so big they tower over skyscrapers to the calm of the sea so smooth they look like panes of green/blue blass.

Sorry to hear your uncle’s ill. Glad they caught it early, tho. Congratulations, I guess, on the marriage of your parents. It’s totally weird, but totally understandable – for legal reasons – that they should choose to get papered.

Debster – Yes, things have definitely improved between us. There are still complicated feelings involved, but all in all it could be worse. And I shall be attending the ceremony, if you can call it that. It’s not going to be much hooplah, but it’ll be nice to be part of it I’m sure.
Your advice is usually pretty good and on the ball. And certainly always appreciated. Don’t you worry bout that.
No animal tracks, that I could see. But it was quite dark and I wasn’t out for too long. Maybe when more snow comes, I’ll get to see some pawprints.
LuisLemmings – The weather is cruel mistress to cross. Or something like that. Thank you for the kind thoughts Luis.
row row row your boat..
Desiree – Thank you Desiree. And congratulations again on the baby. He’s a charmer already!
Maria – Last time I checked, yes! And so are you with an all new Earl and stuff. I mean, URL. Yes!
