Panic In The Streets Of London

It’s funny, looking back at the previous entry. How the first part is about humans. And the second part about goats. The first part about war and the second part about peace. It’s quite a cliché to say that animals are better than humans, but I know which of the two worlds I’d prefer to live in.

The unrest continues, apparently. I haven’t noticed it so much, mainly because I accidentally slept too much today. Earplugs are handy. My parents called me to ask if I was okay. They say I can always come home and sleep there for a night or two if I get scared. Nice of them, but I doubt it’ll get that bad. I hope not.

It’s strange to see your neighbourhood’s name on all the news channels. The busses have stopped going here, periodically. If the Tina Dickow concert had been tonight instead of last week, I might not have been able to get on a bus to go downtown. And you know those kids that starts fires? They don’t just start fires, they also wait for the firemen to come and then hurl rocks at them. That really sickens me. It’s one thing to throw rocks at the police. That’s not OK or anything, but you can sort of understand how the police can represent something bad to these screwballs. And the police sort of expect to be greeted with hostility from these groups. But firemen? People who come out here to put out the fires, people that risk their lives to save others without any kind of “police force” stigma attached to them. It’s horrible. And you know it means that at some point they’re going to have to make the same decision as the busses. “We can’t come to your neighbourhood and put out your fire, sorry”. Or at least they’ll have to wait around for a police escort before they come.

I am not always proud to be human.

No wonder the goats look down on us. Some might claim that the goats imagine that they’re better than us. But obviously it’s not just their imagination.

Crossing my fingers for a night without fires.

Although I’m rarely able to go online these days, I have been thinking of you when I’ve been watching the news. Hoping, of course, that you are alright and not too affected by current unrest in the neighbourhood.

Also, I was at my mums this weekend, and there was a cat there that looked EXACTLY like Aslan, but it wasn’t him, of course, as his long lost. It was his beautiful daughter Lana, who’s is just the most gorgeous cat ever. She’s almost all grown now and everything. I hope she gets to have kittens some day, cos she truly is a stunning cat.

    Sleep tight.

I’ve been doing a bit of research on the riots in Denmark. I hope you’ll be ok and that you don’t go out at night.

The Muslim youths must be awfully angry about something. Some blame America, a target always, while others blame the editors for reprinting the cartoon of Mohammud just a few days earlier

Whatever the case, someone is always angry about something. In the US, we have an issue with those who are not in the country legally. It’s a very, very touchy and sensitive topic.

My gardener, who is Mexican, has commented to me that it isn’t fair to allow those who are here illegally to go ahead of the line in front of those who’ve applied lawfully by filling out the necessary paper work, and paying the required fees.

I do tend to agree with him, however. Nations have laws for a reason. And if those laws aren’t inforced then problems arise.

Denmark, the US, and other westernized modern countries bend over backwards to accomodate everyone. But they can’t please everyone.

Unfortunately, there will probably be more riots in Europe. In America, we don’t have riots. But instead each individual State have begun to enact laws limiting what undocumented individuals can and cannot do.

I wouldn’t be surprised if people are seperated based on citizenship. In California in a few years, driver’s license will only be granted if a person has a valid birth certificate or some other document that states he or she is a citizen of the US.

Passports, green cards, resident alien cards, and social security cards won’t be accepted forms of identifications.

I guess freedom has a price and it only extends to those who are lawful citizens of the country. If you’re not a lawful permanent citizens, then life will be very, very difficult.

We saw some of the fires in Copenhagen on the news tonight and I was hoping you were alright.

I don’t understand why they published that cartoon again after the problems it caused the first time around. I don’t think anything has changed since the first go round and it was just dumb to stir up things again.

Yes, maybe some snow/rain will cool things off a bit and keep everyone inside till things calm down.

Will say a little prayer tonight for you and the playground animals to stay safe.

Desiree – Apart from that smoky night, I have escaped unscathed. I hope things are calming down now.
And aww. Little Lana growing up. I hope she’s not upset with me. Silly humans don’t know what’s good for them.

LuisLemmings – Even without the unrest I’d prefer not to go out at night around here. It’s not the best neighbourhood. And at times like these it seems pretty grim. To be fair though, there are lots of nice people too and some of the unrest has been quenched because people take action. Groups go out on the streets and try to get the troublemakers out etc. And so far I’m okay. It’s not nice though. I hope things return to normal soon. It’s getting better.
The world is getting smaller, they say. And more complicated.

Debster – Yeah, I don’t understand that republishing either. But I also think there are some idiots who just use it as an excuse. Some of the 14-15 year olds that cause trouble, I really don’t think the cartoons matter much to them. But there is so much anger and frustration, so they pick up any excuse blow off steam.
The past week was winter holiday in Denmark. Now most of the kids are back in school, that actually helps a bit. For now at least.
