Vakse Viggo
Guess what my fridge is full of?
Leftover soup. And my belly is full of it too, mama’s brilliant chicken soup. That’s good eats!
To while away the lazy Sunday, here is a video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8GmIs_GmMQ. Vanilje on the wobbly bench. Jumping and running and being bossed around by Magnethe and generally having a good time. It’s good to see her doing well like that.
And tonight I’m sure Debster will join me in crossing my fingers for Viggo Mortensen in the academy awards race. We don’t get many oscars in Denmark, so go Viggo go. You think they can write Aragorn into the Hobbit somehow? The die-hard Lord of the Rings fans always say that Peter Jackson butchered the movies, so why not butcher The Hobbit too and put Aragorn in? Yes, please. More Viggo.

If we had a bench that close to the fence, I’m sure Frankie would be hopping on the bench, to the top of the fence, and over it. He likes to climb on everything.
We didn’t watch the awards, but I don’t Viggo won anything. Poor Viggo!

The top for academy awards: best actor, actress and best supporting actor and actress went to Europeans.
That’s refreshing since American actors are more like movie stars than true actors. We have our actors but they don’t have the same popularity as a George Cloony or Brad Pitt or Julia Roberts.
When you see them on screen, you see George or Brad or Julia acting their character.
But when you see Laura Linney or Tommy Lee Jones, you see their character.
I vomited when Cher, Julia Roberts, Helen Hunt, Gweneth Paltrow, and that chic who was in that Johnny Cash bio pic a couple of years ago won for best actress.
Man, they fucking couldn’t act their way out of a damn paper bag!
So even though Viggo didn’t win, it’s still a bonus for other foeign countries like France, Spain, Australia, and Great Britain.
Austria won its first academy award for best foriegn movie.
I’ve always enjoyed foreign movies anyway–I rarely watch the shit that American studios puts out unless it’s a small independent film like “Juno” which I was so happy the first time screen writer won.

Around here, we probably won’t even have movies like “Atonement” or some of the others in theaters. Will have to wait until they’re on video or TV. I haven’t seen Juno, but it was around here.
LuisLemmings: so you were one of the 5 people who watched the awards ceremony? They said the viewer numbers were way down this year. I think we were watching “wrestling hunting dogs” again.
Although I did get to see “Awesome Pawsome” on Animal Planet (I think). It was from 2000, but was the first I’d seen it. It was an Australian theme park/zoo and they showed four baby tigers (3 regular colors and 1 white) being born and how they were raised/trained by their human handlers.
The handlers were right in the birthing pen with the mama tiger (she had been raised by the handlers) while she was giving birth. I’ve seen mama dogs more upset with people around than that full grown pregnant tiger mama.
The handlers bottle-fed the babies when they were two weeks old so they would bond with humans. One guy took them home at night for feedings until they were old enough to be at the park at night by themselves.
These handlers actually walked the two parent tigers thru the park on leashes amid the visitors. Kids would come up and pet the tigers. The adult tigers and the babies (when they were older) would all go for a swim with the handlers in their pool.
They must do training like Siegrfried and Roy did with their tigers (having them in their home, swimming in the pool together, etc.) before their accident anyway.
Now my dream is to be a “tiger handler”! I do have experience in taming wild barn kittens. I just talk to them till they get used to me . . . then I feed them! They get used to me really, really quick when food is involved!
I don’t care much for human babies, but those tiger cubs were just the cutest things when they were all full of milk and drowsy.

Debster – I think the playground goats are a little too.. hmm.. “well-fed” to jump over that fence, hehe.
Nothing for Viggo. But I’m sure he’ll win something for Aragorn in the Hobbit. I’m sure.
There used to be a big delay in movies coming to Denmark, but I think that’s all changing now with the intarwebs and all. I’m seeing Juno advertised on Danish telly so it must be here already.
“Awesom Pawsome”, that’s a great title! That should win an Oscar.
I’m sure it must be very amazing to be a tiger handler. They’re beautiful animals no doubt. Although I have my hands full just handling goats!
LuisLemmings – We Europeans are great actors. I mean, have you SEEN my videos? I am a great example of European acting at its best. Ahem cough cough ahem.
Well we can’t all be Viggos.
Should I go watch Juno? Seems to be getting good praise.

Well, I’m no movie critic, but your acting is fine. It’s the dialogue that needs a little help. Speak louder, Plumey!
I suppose you could become a famous mime, like Marcel Marceau.
