I’m Jealous Of You Birds
The main event today was in the soccer field of excellence. Today was the Danish cup final. And my beloved Brøndby won the cup. So that was good news for me. Our season in the league has been disastrous, but now we have a trophy and we have qualified for the european cup next year. So season isn’t a total bust.
In other news, here is a video of the Monday happenings: http://youtube.com/watch?v=Q1tHfnnY190. The conga line across the field. The kids running back and forth. You can hear a little panting if your turn the volume up. Vanilje rolling in the dirt. And the cabbage feast.
Onwards.

I see what you mean about Mads limping. Is it his right front leg he favors? I saw a little of it in the video.
The goatzie girls are full of energy. Mads was guarding his share of the cabbages and wouldn’t let them close until he’d had enough. That nice lady must have fixed a big batch of cooked cabbage or slaw to have all those excess outer leaves.
Just to let you know, Plumey how much you’ve influenced me. My husband and I are doing some painting at the park in town. We primed the merry-go-round with gray epoxy and then will apply two coats of bright red paint for the finish color.
We had put the primer on and checked it again in about 4 hours. There were some kids playing by the slide when we arrived at the park. The primer was almost dry, but still somewhat tacky. Then I noticed the white sand and dirt that “some” kids had put on the not completely dry primer.
I kept my cool and was nice to the kids and explained how someone else had sand-blasted all the old paint off and we were painting it to make it look nice for all the kids who came to the park.
I’m sure they were involved in the adding sand to the merry-go-round, but they helped us brush the sand off (the best we could) and I asked them if they saw anyone else putting dirt or sand on the merry-go-round to ask them please not to do it.
We had the area roped off, but short of building a wooden shed around it, we couldn’t keep kids away. Hopefully it will stop raining and being so windy so we can put on the red finish coat.
I remember you talking about how the kids like to help you even though it does take longer to feed the animals. And since this is for the kids in our community, I decided to be nice and let them know that adults were doing things as volunteers to better the park.
I think they were surprised we didn’t yell at them and that we were doing it for just the cost of the finish paint (we donated our labor costs).
We’ll see how it goes with the finish coat. At least the sand will give them good griping ability when they go round in circles on the merry-go-round!
We sometimes add sand to paint when we’re doing wooden steps so they aren’t so slick when it’s raining/snowy. We’ll just have to pretend the sand was actually meant to be on the playground equipment after all!

Debster – I’m not sure which of the legs he prefers. I shall have to investigate.
I think Mads always makes sure he gets his fair share. And then some! Some day they others may gang up on him so they can get theirs first. I’m sure Mads will rue the day.
I’m glad I have influenced you! It’s a really hood idea to get the kids involved like that. They will feel like they’re part of the thing, instead of being against it. If you can get kids to feel responsible about something then they’ll have a whole other attitude. That’s part of what they do a the playground too, they let kids have responsibilities. They can get their own bunny to take care of. The bunny stays at the playground but the kids then have to make sure that the bunny is fed and taken care of. That way they feel its their responisibility and they’re much less likely to go around and vandalize or mistread the animals.
