All The Benifits Of All The Doubts
Guess who I met today?
I’ll give you a hint.
Yes? Okay, a bigger hint:
The kitty came back. Keeping an eye on things.
So that was very nice. Came in handy, as I wasn’t feeling that great. I had been up early to watch Lost. Which is always good. But after that I got somewhat depressed. Much too early to go to the playground. I ended up in bed with nothing better than sleeping the day away on my mind. I know going to bed is always a bad idea when I feel down, it only makes me feel worse. Worse after the sleep. But the sleep is so good… anyway, my dad called around 11. He had to drop some things off and wanted to be sure I was home. He said he’d be there in an hour, so I wanted to be cosntructive and get up and go do some shopping before he came. I went to close the window. And there was the kitty. Sitting in my porchspace and looking up at me.
A sweet sight. I opened the lower part of the door carefully, but it was still enough to spook the kitty. It ran behind the barrier to the neighbour’s porch. Which is what you see in the pictures above. Then I stepped out on the porchwalk to get a little closer, but kitty just ran a little farther away.
To there. Now I know how it got up to me in the first place. The first time I saw it I figured it wouldn’t be able to jump up to me. But it can go up on the neighbour’s porch. They have a proper little porch/veranda. And from there it can go to the porchspace and pass the barrier and get to my place.
It didn’t want to come inside, it seemed. So eventually I did go and do some shopping. When I came back and opened the window/door, kitty was still outside. But still did not want to come inside. And eventually it ran off. It’s obviously still a bit hesitant around people. But I’m just glad it’s still around. I was afraid I wouldn’t ever see it again. But now I can hope for more visits.
Just seeing it made me happy. Happy enough that I didn’t want to sleep the day away. So after my dad had come and gone I went to the playground and spent some nice time with the goats.
The kids were out on their own. They’re still small enough to get through the fence. I fed them some peapods, but I could hear Magnethe baahing in the background. I figured she wanted her babies back. So I took them with me into the pen. And everybody seemed pleased.
And that’s the story of how my day turned out to be quite okay after all.

I think Moomin Kat II is pretty shy. I guess he gets more courage at night? Anyway, what I do in cases like that is to just ignore the kat so that it won’t feel so nervous and frighten. Eventually, they will see you as someone harmless and not out to hurt them, and they’ll just hang around.
Your place could be the Kit Kat klub for Moomin Kat II, hear some kool Jazz music, have a couple glasses of milk and head on home with a full belly and soothing music in his ears.
Of course, he won’t be driving. Drinking milk and driving is a no no in the kat world, and Mommin Kat II always obeys the rules of the road.

When we want a kitty to come for food, we call “Kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty.” (in a slightly higher pitched voice than I normally would talk).
Of course, being this is a Danish kitty kat, I think you would have to call it in Danish. How do you call a kitty in Denmark? (And don’t say: On the phone!”)
After kitty kat calling, leave a little milk or meat outside on the porch for kitty. See if that doesn’t help coax it up to your place again.

LuisLemmings – Yes, it has to see that it can trust the person before it gets friendly.. I did try the ignore thing, but I wanted to get shopping done before my dad would arrive, so I couldn’t ignore for long enough!
If I do serve drinks then I’ll be sure to get MKII’s license so there’ll be no funny busines!
Debster – In Denmark we’d go “mis mis mis mi”. Which sounds like “miss miss miss” so I better hope that no english speaking ladies walk by while I do it!
Maybe I could try walkie talkies. Do you have walkie talkies in America? I don’t even know if we do in Denmark anymore. They were all the rage when I was a kid.
When the kitty came that first night I did put a saucer with a little water down for it. It didn’t want to drink the water (maybe it would have preffered milk yes) but the gesture did seem to help it feel more safe and come inside. Maybe I’ll try that again.
