På Vejen Igen

I am feeling a little unwell today. Very tired and head hurting. Coughing a bit. I’m not sure if I’m coming down with something or if it’s just the unbearable hardness of being.
I’ll be fine though.
Yesterday I had my first real blindness mishap. I was cooking spaghetti. And went to drain the water over the sink. In a handheld strainer thing. But I had the strainer upside down. So instead of catching all the spaghetti in the strainer I dropped it all into the sink. Oops. I managed to salvage enough to get a little meal after all. But it’s still annoying. To really feel that your loss of sight is making things harder. You can’t pretend everything is normal.
I had a somewhat better time at the playground. The goat boys seemed happy to see me. I know I keep saying this, but they are getting so big! Oh my. But they are so cuddly, still trying to jump on me and letting me hold them and they are just wonderful. And I finally found out what their names are. I have kept forgetting to ask. But yesterday Kurt told me. And their names are Finn & Jacob after all. I remember Thomas jokingly suggesting it shortly after they were born. I guess no one came up with better choices, so Finn & Jacob stuck. They are named after Finn Nørbygaard & Jacob Haugaard, a Danish comedian/entertainer couple. I used to love them when I was a kid. And I know my mother voted for Jacob when he was elected to the Danish parliament after campaign promises like “less wind on the bicycle paths” and “better christmas presents” and so on. Anyway, Finn & Jacob. That’s what they’re called. Jacob is the one with the slgihtly darker head.
I also got to see the piglets running around. That was nice. Previously they had always been sleeping under the heat lamp when I was there. But yesterday I got them in full piglet frenzy. Lots of fun. They tired themselves out and ran back under the lamp just when Kurt walked in. “Are they sleeping again?!” he said. I said “no no, they were just out running around”. And he said “Oh that’s good. You never know with them, it’s like an on/off switch, sometimes they’re just laying there and sometimes they’re running around like crazy”. Good times.
Good times on video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=usVMc4p-kX8.
I thought my camera was broken. Suddenly I couldn’t zoom in and out while in video mode. When I got back home and took a closer look at the camera I found that I had set it to super macro mode. That’s why it couldn’t zoom. So I won’t have to buy a new one after all.
There are other things to discuss but I am still not feeling great so I’m going to go feed the goblins under the bed. Soup tomorrow. That will be good. Very good.

Hee, hee! Full piglet frenzy is right. I think it is “101 Dalmation Piglets” you’ve got there.
Count the spots?? I had trouble counting the piglets. Are there seven of them? I thought goat and lamb babies were wild, but those piglets are funny.
Finn and Jacob. They sure looked happy to be sitting on you (or your lap). Don’t think those goatzie boys are spoiled! Oh, no! They are spoiled rotten. Silly goatzies.
I thought I was coming down with a cold last weekend, but think it was just my allergies. The tree pollen count had been high and I had a stuffy nose and congestion for just a few days. Not long enough for a cold.
And then today I heard a lawn mower! That means grass mowing till October or November. Can you hear me sneezing in Denmark yet? Achoo, achoo, achoo. I think I am allergic to every grass known to man (and then some).
I wouldn’t make a very good goat, now would I?

The goat boys are just adorable! I wish there were a playground with animals near here, you are so lucky. At least there are some friendly neighborhood cats who let me pet them sometimes. Life is better with fuzzy friends. :)
Is it sunny over there? We have had TWO DAYS of SUNSHINE here in Bergen, which is absolutely amazing. Almost makes me forget how behind I am on my thesis/learning Norwegian. Our landlady said Norwegian and Danish are almost the same language — what do you think about that?

Debster – I hope you won’t be catching my cold. I wonder if goats can catch colds from humans? I better be careful with the boys Don’t want them sick.
Valja – It’s getting quite sunny here in fact. Beautiful weather most of the time. At least I think so, it’ll be a couple of days before I dare head out into it.
Danish, Norwegian and Swedish are all pretty similar. If you learn Norwegian then you will probably be able to get by in Danish too. And then you’ll be able to understand it when I use Danish blog titles!
