The Ghost Of Christmas Passed

So that was christmas.

I hope you have all had a happy and a safe one. Now there’s a whole year until it’s that time of year again.

Mine was quite okay. It did not start too well, though. I almost had to cancel because I was still having stomach problems. I thought I would have to spend christmas on the loo. But I ended up going after all.

I wasn’t in the best of christmas moods at first. The stomach trouble, nothing to eat all day, and of course the missing eyesight. I did get to step in a little bit of snow. From the curb to the cab. That was nice. Other than that there is a bit of a helpless feeling of being ferried about, and then at dinner having to be helped with everything. And not being able to see the faces of the people around you. I was feeling somewhat sad at first. But it got better. The food was really good and it was nice just to sit there and be part of the family again. I’m glad I ended up going, it did cheer me up in the end. I didn’t do so much talking of course, that’s how I am. But it’s nice to just listen and feel at home. And I did contribute to the mathematical yahtzee discussion. Hah.

But it was pretty much christmas like I want it, simple and quiet and not more than I can handle.

We didn’t do so much in the way of presents this year, but I did get the Lost season 5 box (paying some of it myself) and some leg warmers that may make goat visits more comfortable, if they work like advertised.

So it turned out to be a nice little christmas after all. Perhaps it wasn’t the best idea to eat so much of the lovely dinner, though. My stomach is still not doing so well. A little simple, bland food would probably have been better for it. But oh well. I’d do it all again if I had the chance.

By the way, this is the first christmas in as long as I can remember where I haven’t watched any Scrooged on the telly. I did zap by it on christmas eve, but didn’t watch any. I kinda regret that now. It’s a christmas tradition that I watch at least a little bit of it. Maybe I can still catch it during the holy-days. It’s always on a lot on various different channels.

Ho ho ho.

I haven’t seen “Scrooged” on TV either this year. I watched “A Christmas Story” about little Ralphie and his family at Christmas. And I watched “Deck the Halls” with Danny DeVito and Matthew Broderick which was funny.

We have around 5-6 inches of snow right now. We missed much of the higher totals of snow (like 12-15 inches). My husband used the snow blower to clear out the driveway for the mailman on Monday.

He cleared a path to the barn so we could feed the goats and donkey, too. The German Shorthair dogs liked running around in the snow.

Debster – I am so torn now, wishing there would be lots of snow, yet knowing that the more there is the harder things will be for me. I long for summer. I think the goats wouldn’t mind it either.
