A Fairy Tale Beginning
Guess what? Magnethe’s babies have finally been named.
And guess what? They went with my suggestion. Hans and Grethe, Danish forms of Hansel and Gretel. So I finally got to name goats. Wahey. Quite appropriate names too as I suspect someone has been fattening them up. They certainly are huger and huger.
Here’s a video from Thursday: youtube.com/watch?v=sEoa08UZC6w. Lots of fun stuff. Including the moment when I learned that they had been named, although you’ll need to understand Danish to get that. But the kids were in the bunnypen again. They are now big enough to get in and out all by themselves. But I still wanted to lift them out so they wouldn’t harass the bunny. While I was fumbling around with the girl Per passed by and said something like “were you getting yourself in trouble, Grethe?”. So then I knew. “Oh they have been named now?” I asked. And Per said “yes, that was a good suggestion you came up with”. I think I told him my suggestion a week or two ago. I asked if they had been named and he told me they hadn’t. Some people were calling them Kaj and Andrea (after Kaj and Andrea), but there was already a bunny called Kaj. So they were still looking. That’s when I suggested Hans and Grethe. And I thought that Per didn’t seem too enthusiastic about it. But I guess it was discussed with the others and that ended up being their names.
youtube.com/watch?v=IHv5TTUJFtA. Another video. Hans and Grethe playing around. And there were quite a few human kids around too. I think I was asked 3-4 times if I owned the goats or the playground.
I also came home with a bruise on my inner lip. And I felt like I had gotten a bloody nose a couple of times. They are quite rowdy, those goaties. Maybe my mother is right, maybe I should be a little more careful. I got horns and heads smashed into my face 3-4 times. Just accidentally. Their horns may still be small, but they can hurt you if you’re unlucky. Goats will be goats.
Hans is quite a fighter, too. He butts first and asks questions later. They have figured out that I have raisin treats in my right pocket, and whenever Hans wants attention or treats he starts butting me in my side. What a little bully.
Grethe, on the other hand, is the one who enjoys jumping on my back the most. Any chance she gets she catapults herself up there. Sometimes when she doesn’t make it all the way up she’ll fall back down and end up on her back or side. And then I’ll usually seize the opportunity to give her a good belly rub.
Yes, always good times with the goats. Other than that there is nothing new to report. My dad is doing okay and the eye surgery is less than two weeks away now.
Oh and the Lost finale was amazing. Although, as anticipated, about 50% of the fans hated it. Some people don’t deserve good TV.

You always wear that brown jacket .. summer, winter, spring!
Atleast get another one so you can interchange them, if you must
always wear a jacket.

If Hansel and Gretel, the goats, found the witch’s house in the woods, they most likely would have eaten it. The witch included!
We’re moving more things over to the new house today. We will be making the move with the computer on Tuesday. So if you don’t hear much out of me around that time, that is the reason why.
We are getting ourselves moved first, then will get the goatzies and donkey, dogs, and kitty kats moved. We need to get some fencing up for the goatzies next.
I will be glad when we are finally done with this moving. What a headache this has been.
Glad to hear your Dad is okay. Some people only seem to have one attack and others have more and need their gallbladder removed. It will be two years since I had my gallbladder surgery.

Glad to hear that your dad is doing well! Hans og Grete er fine geitenavn :) I’ll be away on holiday for a while, in case I don’t get a chance to post it later I will say it now: all the best wishes for the surgery, hope it goes well! Cheers to a speedy recovery!

fmeisterm – Hah. You are almost correct. I have another jacket (that I use. I think I have a couple that I don’t too). In fact I wore it when I went to foot therapy just now. But I do love my brown jacket and I wear it all the time. My mother tells me I need a new one, it’s falling apart. But I don’t care. If I cared about my appearance I’d.. feel even worse than I do now. When summer comes in for real I may have to ditch it for a while though. We’ll see.
Debster – I can just imagine the witch bending down to check on the fire and then Hans headbutting her in the rear, sending her into the oven.
Hope the move is going okay so far. Good luck with the computer. I remember when I moved away from home, that was one of my main worries, getting the internets to work at the new place. I was so relieved when it did. I may be forced to move some time in the next couple of years, and I’m thinking of doing a pre-emptive strike and moving up to Bispehaven, next to the playground. But I’ll write more about that at a later date.
Oh yeah, I forgot you had your gallbladder removed. You seem to be doing okay. I’m sure everything will be fine.
Katrine – Thank you kindly. Hope you’ll have a nice holiday. Where are you going? Bermuda? Bahamas? lalala *goes off singing Beach Boys*

It’s Monday afternoon…I’m tired of packing and unpacking things. We slept at the new house last night. It was almost too quiet. No highway road noise! hee, hee
The tv, phone, and computer all get packed up tonight for hook-up on Tuesday. Keep your fingers (and hooves) crossed that all goes well for us.

Hi, it’s me! We seem to be hooked back up to the internet and have phone service. The guy is here working on the TV hook-up as I write this Tuesday morning.
I’m so confused as to what day it is since Monday was Memorial Day and most everything was closed or people were on a long holiday weekend (well almost everyone, but us).
We have more things at the new place than we do at the old place! Now to just pack up the odds and ends and clean and vacuum the old place.
Next comes putting up the fencing for the goats and donkey, moving the birds, dogs, and kitty kats. It will be interesting to move the goatzies and donkey as they will be in a horse trailer to move them.
When they arrived at the old place, they were all small and came in a dog carrier or the back of the pick-up truck.

Debster – aw I just had the sweetest mental image of a little goat in a dog carrier! Heeeheee! That would be lovely. I wonder if I could fit Hans or Grethe in one. Take them for a trip round the city
Yay for h internets working at the new place. So far so good. I hope all the animals will settle in nicely. “You mean there’s more than ONE house in the world?! Why were we never informed of this?!”. As long as there is good food then I’m sure they’ll handle it all well.
Probably some good food won’t hurt for the humans either!

Actually, John Boy and Billy were both about 8-10 weeks old when we picked them up. They both fit in the pet carrier together. And it wasn’t one big enough for a St. Bernard dog!
Billy would need one that size now though. hee, hee We brought over two of the birds tonight to the new place. Chicory the parakeet and Sprite the parrotlett took the move just fine (it’s only about 6 miles away).
Buddy the Eclectus parrot, is still with Dusty the cockatiel at the old place. Buddy knows something is up, but just not quite sure what. I’ve told him we’re ALL moving. It’s just not his turn yet.
He’s very impatient about waiting. I will have to take him thru the new place and show him all the rooms. The other birds don’t seem to care one way or another.

Awww Babies Babies Babies!

Debster – That’s too precious, too little goat babies in a pet carrier. How lovely.
I wonder if I could get a carreer as a pet delivery man…
I hope Buddy isn’t a paranoid parrot. “Squawk, where did every body go?”. I hope he will approve of the new place.
Katt – Somebody got baby fever!
