The Soup Constant

Guess what I had for supper today?

I’ll give you a hint: Mama’s chicken soup. Mmm mm. I never get tired of that. As yummy as ever. And now I have three cartons of soup in my fridge. Dinner for days. Just perfect.

It’s been a while since the last time I went over to my parents’ place for dinner. It’s winter now and getting dark early. It was already starting to get dark when I went over there around 4. It wasn’t too bad at that point, though. I could see well enough. And actually traffic lights and cars are easier to see when it’s a littler dark. So that was fine. On my way home it was much darker, though, and much harder for me to see. My dad came with me, helped me carry the soup and various things and guided me a little. I could have found my way home on my own, with a little help from my cane, I’m sure. But it’s nice to have my dad with me anyway. I have very, very little nightvision left. Close to being completely blind. And that’s not really a nice way to walk around on your own.

But the soup’s good. The soup is excellent.

My parents have new neighbours. The people who lived next door have moved away. There aren’t many of the old people in the neighbourhood left. I lived there, in Ryhaven, for most of my life. Some 30 years almost. It’s strange to think that there aren’t many people from those days left. But then, I left too of course. And my parents will probably be leaving as well. They’re planning to move to a smaller place. They don’t need all that space now that the kids are gone. They will be staying in Ryhaven, though. Just a smaller house. And it might be a while yet until it happens. But everything changes.

As long as mama keeps making the soup, though, then I’m good.

Mmmmm….chicken soup. I’ll be right over for a big bowl of soup!

The goatzies told me a secret today. They told me they have it on good intelligence that a package was mailed out today from their town to your address!

What smart goatzies they are! They said to expect the package in 7 to 10 days. (Or sooner . . . or later) Whichever comes first. hee, hee

It rained overnight, was 61 F (16.1 C) this morning and is now 37 F (2.7 C) with a brisk wind a blowing. What a temperatur change we’ve had today. Brrrr.

Debster – What could it be what could it be! I shall put a chair in front of my door and stare at it until the package arrives.
But you really shouldn’t have etc.
There is a lot of snow outside right now. I think I’m going to need the rest of the soup for myself. Sorry!
