White Christmas
Well, here it is. Merry christmas.
I hope you all have had or will have or are being having a good christmas and/or other seasonal holiday of your own choosing. And I say that in the most festive way possible.
I have had a nice one. Celebrated with my parents and brother. Our traditional low-key dinner, desert and presents. Not too much of a fuss, and that’s how I like it. No singing, no dancing around the tree. No tree at all in fact. I don’t care much about the old traditions of christmas and I’m certainly not into the religious aspects of it all. I just like spending some quality time with my family. I have come to appreciate that whole lot more as I’ve gotten older.
The day didn’t start off too well, though. I was feeling sick this morning. I ended up staying in bed some three hours longer than I had planned. Just feeling weak and tired and sore all over. I’m not sure why. Maybe I’m coming down with something. Or maybe it was just a bad night. Anyway, it caused me to change my plans. Instead of heading over to my parents on my own I called my dad and had him come over and pick me up. It’s still very wintery in Denmark. Bad weather. In parts of the country police are recommending that people stay inside. And I think all of Bornholm has disappeared under snow. At least that’s what I gather from the news reports on TV. You’d think we’d be able to handle the snow by now, but every year it’s the same chaos and reporters braving the weather for dramatic live on-scene reports. Sometimes I think they wish we had real hurricanes in Denmark so they could be in real danger. I never really understood why they need to stand outside in a storm to tell us that the police recommend we don’t go outside. But I digress. Even though the weather isn’t quite that bad right here and my parents’ house isn’t that far away, I still didn’t feel like going out in the darkening cold on my own. So dad picked me up. We took the bus. For three stops. And then walked the rest. And even that short walk was enough to get me frozen to the bones.
But once inside things were much better. I was still feeling a bit weak and tired, but it was nice to be with the family. No visitors this year, just the four of us. I watched some TV. It was nice to be able to sit in the comfy chair and actually see what was on the telly. I remember several times in the recent past where I was sitting in that chair and could not really make out anything on the screen. That was the best christmas present I could get. (Although right now I’m listening to the Dizzy Mizz Lizzy 2010 reunion CD and that’s pretty rocking too).
So to sum it all up and make a short story a little shorter: good food and good times. Now I am good and ready for bed, and hopefully I’ll feel okay in the morning.
In the meanwhile here is a little christmas greeting from the goats and I: youtube.com/watch?v=6MQ53QdtOko. I had lofty ambitions to edit the footage and time it with the song and everything. It didn’t quite work out as well as I had hoped. But at least the message is from the heart:
Merry Baaaahing christmas!

Lovely Christmas greeting from you and the goats! You do have some snow there. We ended up with about 4-5 inches of snow. It’s a little windy today and cloudy.
We went outside and visited with the animals in their pen. Lots of hay munching and scratches. I even got Frankie to hold still for a bit while I leaned up against him. Warm little goatzie is he!
The kitty kats were all inside with us wanting to be scratched and held. Kitties have learned to cry so sadly in order to get food and scratches. Goofy cats.
The snow did bring lots of birds to our feeder. We had numerous goldfinches and juncos, a beautiful red cardinal, 2 blue jays, 2 nuthatches, a downy woodpecker, and a red-bellied woodpecker.
We had a lovely evening at my parents house along with my sister and her husband. We had tacos for supper, opened presents, and then had cake and coffee for dessert.
Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to you too! We celebrated English style this year, so we didn’t open pressies until juledag in the morning and all through the day. It was really nice and as far as I’m concerned, much, much nicer than having all the tired after dinner rush of opening pressies before bedtime.
The children were so good and played with all their toys and at bedtime Arthur snuggled up in his new sleeping bag and didn’t wake once!!! In case you don’t realise, this is almost unheard of. In his nearly 3 years on this planet, he’s slept through perhaps a handful of times! Don’t know if it was the magic of his Thomas sleeping bag or the excitement of Christmas wearing him out, but regardless, mummy and daddy were very pleased!
Anyways, sending you many hugs and many thanks for the present for my son. Needless to say he absolutely loves it. x

Debster – sounds like a good time, both with animals and people. I wish I could have seen the goats on christmas eve, but with the weather and the place being closed and all.. wasn’t in the cards. But I hope they had a good one too.
Now it’s time to power up for new year’s eve!
Desiree – Sounds jolly good. But do the kids appreciate waiting with the gifts as well? Somehow I’m not sure I would have understood..But then I was a bit of a brat :-P
Glad Arthuter liked the sleeping bag. I hope he’ll have many good night’s sleep in it then.
I just had a look on amazon about the other present. There was a huge topic on their message board about people not getting their stuff from the particular division that mine is coming from too. I have mailed support about it, waiting for reply. I had a similar problem on the us amazon site and they immediately told me they’d send out a replacement order free of charge. I’m hopeing uk amazon will do the same. Patience is a virtue, especially during the holidays!

Just got your message. Bah-humbug! ;) But don’t worry about it. I got her a digital camera, which doesn’t work (cos it’s cheap and nasty), so I have to get her a replacement cam now, so she still has more pressies coming and isn’t actually missing out on anything! :)
(If you do feel the need to send her something, have a look at these:

– Yes, I realise it’s so pink it would make even fairies feel slightly nauseous, but my daughter loves the girly stuff – despite my best efforts!)
Speaking of toys, here’s a really expensive one:

Cool, eh!?

Desiree – Well I hope the waiting will pay off for her! Hehe. I actually already ordered a replacement from amazon, so those pinkies will have to wait for another time. But I’m tempted to get that “goat sleigh” for myself. I wonder if it’s in stock on amazon…
