Buck Ahoyhoy
I met a new friend at the playground.
Here is a little video: youtube.com/watch?v=4IJHHuRL3rk. A handsome young buck. I like his wide beard. The ladies didn’t seem too impressed, though. He’s got his work cut out for him. But I’m sure they’ll cook up some romance. And hopefully some sweet goat babies in the summertime. Usually we have the babies around this time actually, March-ish. I think it will be nice to have a bunch in the summer sun. Should be a lot of fun.
Other than that, as usual, nothing much going on. Got myself a sweet homemade birthday card from the Debster and husband and animals. Thank you all kindly! My birthday should be nice this year, with goats and soup. I am looking forward to it.
Meanwhile I think I’ll go back and read some more Dune. That should take me a year or two to finish.
Terribly thrilling this all is, I agree!

My, what a handsome buck he is, too! His beard is so wide and pretty. He seems very pleasant. Does he have that nice “bucky” aroma? I really don’t mind that smell too much.
The playground seems to get the sweetest bucks around to visit the girls. A neighbor around here had a huge Boer buck – his head was bigger than a basketball (with horns) and when he stood up with his feet on the fence, he could have put his front legs on my shoulders! He was beautiful and friendly, but very powerful and didn’t know his own strength!
I’m glad you received your “Happy Birthday” card. Won’t be too many days now till the 15th. Hope you have a very nice day with lots of sunshine and goats!

Debster – He does have a very nice beard doesn’t he! And he’s quite friendly. But he’s not very assertive with the ladies, so I don’t get to spend that much time up close with him. Because they just chase him away! I’m not sure that’s how it’s supposed to work..
He doesn’t actually smell that bad. Or maybe I’ve just gotten so used to that smell that I don’t even notice it anymore!
I’ve had a nice day today (the 15th at the time of writing)! Not a lot of sunshine unfortunately. But good goats and good family and good soup. Can’t ask for much more than that!

Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday my dear danish goat boy,
Happy Birthday to you!!!!
Soup! Yummy. Nothing can beat Mom’s homemade chicken soup – glad to hear you had an enjoyable day.
It was warm again today here. We worked outside yesterday and today painting. How about that for March? I think next week may be a little cooler with more chances of rain. But at least we were able to finish one project outside.
I wonder if my hummingbirds will be returning earlier this year since it’s been so warm? I’ve been watching the migration map and they are in the middle part of the southern states right now.
The hummers arrived here on the last day of April last year. I’m planning on putting out some sugar water feeders in the middle of April – not that I’m anxious to see them or anything!
I will have to make a “Welcome to my feeders” banner for the hummers so they know I’m waiting for them.

I’m sending you some pictures of the goatzies, so check your email.
We did some hoof trimming on Snickers today. Boy, is that exhausting! Can’t wait for the real hoof trimming guy to do a good job, but we needed to do something meanwhile.

Debster – Thank you! For the happpy birthdays and the pictures. Those are some sweet photos. Is there anything better than 3 goats just chilling? That’s the life for me. You have some beautiful beautiful animals. Even if some of them can be a handful to trim! Or hoof-ful I mean.
It’s getting warmer here again. We could be nearing 15C soon. Oh the joy! Though still with cold nights. But it’s going the right way. I hope you’ll get to see some nice hummingbirds soon. I wonder if humming a tune or two will help attract them`? Maybe you should try it out!

Someone asked me how I got hummingbirds to come to my feeder. I told them to go put out their hummingbird feeder with sugar water, then stand by the feeder and say three times: “Hummer, hummer, hummer” and the birds will appear.
I did this with some of our friends at our house after I had put up the feeder (I knew the birds would come anyway), and then I went thru my “hummer, hummer, hummer” spiel and MAGICLY the birds appeared!
Were our friends ever impressed that I could actually call hummingbirds! hee, hee I didn’t tell them the birds would be coming on their own anyway. They knew what to do when I appear with a full feeder.
So now I can envision these people outside their home with a full feeder calling “hummer, hummer, hummer” to attract birds. Am I wicked, or what?
