Kicked Off

I can’t believe it’s June already. And I can’t believe I woke up early from the cold the other day. That should not happen in June. We went from 25+ to 10+. That ain’t right. I really hope the heat will come back soon. We should be getting close to 20 again this week. I need it. To stay motivated on the exercise bike. At least until I get that sauna installed in the west wing.

Other than that there’s nowt going on.

I managed to write the above and not post it because I couldn’t think of anything interesting to add. I still can’t. Grumbph. But I guess I ought to make some kind of update.

Temperatures are climbing a little since last, but we’re still under 20C. We’ve had rain and thunder. I hope the summer heat will be back soon. But I have started wearing a plastic bag when I exercise. One of those big, black garbage bags. Poked holes in it for arms and head and I wear it as a shirt. It helps get the sweat going which helps motivate me. So it may sound somewhat odd, but it’s working for me. There was some discussion on Facebook about whether I should slap a Nike logo on it and try to sell it as a prototype. The Sweat Sack, I would call it. Rich I would be. Surely nothing could go wrong. But please don’t call me Shirley.

Did I mention that I have updated my photo album? I don’t remember. Here it is anyway: plume.dk/pics/thumbnails.php?album=38. The last couple of pictures are of Kamel’s ears. They are both folded at the tips. Don’t ask me how that happened. I don’t recall ever seeing anything like that before. It looks rather peculiar. Like she has folded them neatly to conserve space. Amusing. And of course Mio is missing part of one of her ears. It’s an odd bunch. Love them though. Wacky goats.

The European Championships in football started today. Denmark is in the Group Of Death (dun dun dunnnn) with Holland, Germany and Portugal. We always do best when we’re underdogs, though. So I expect we’ll win the whole tournament. I mean, it’s 20 years since our amazing win in Euro ’92. Those were the days.

But enough about that, and other things.

You would think that having your ears folded would hurt. I’ve seen other Boer goats with folded ears. Of course La Mancha goats have a whole other problem . . . tiny ears!

Magnethe looks like she’s smiling in that one picture. “I’m so pretty”, says Magnethe.

We’ve been having warm weather here. It’s been 89 F during the day and 66 F at night (that’s 31 C and 18 C). Your temperatures sound great to me. We had some rain last week that really helped the corn and bean crops and we could use some more. Our next chance of rain is on Monday – 40% chance.

Watched the hummingbirds yesterday evening. They are still zipping around and chasing each other off the feeders. Silly birds. I counted 8 hummers last night.

We’re off to the Strawberry Festival today to see the flea market, eat strawberries and ice cream and just enjoy some time off from work.

Debster – I wonder what causes the folded ears. I mean, it’s not done to them right? It’s a natural occurence. Oddly.
I’d like to get up to 30C, at least for a little while. Around 30 is usually the peak of our summer’s. Normally I’m happy here around 20, but I’d like a little more to help with the exercising. But what can you do anyway, we don’t control the weather. YET.
Hope you enjoyed the flea market. I Should get some strawberries soon, tis the season and all.
