Black And White Colours

I have had some interesting days. First I had two great days with Mio’s baby girl. Wednesday and Thursday. Then got sick. Then the power went out.

I am still somewhat sick, but at least the power is back. It went out Saturday night. Only for a couple of hours, but it was a little scary at first anyway. The compete darkness enveloping everything. With my eyesight the darkness is complete and impenetrable. And there’s a certain sense of panic and creeping fear of blindness. Good thing I had my cell phone next to me. Not enough to light up the room, but at least a little flicker of light to show that there was still something to see. And then I got my big torchlight and that was enough light to find my way around the room. My dad came over with some fuses, because I wasn’t sure if it was just my apartment or the whole block. Turns out it was part of the block and some of the lights outside I think. It had been a very warm day so I took a long, cold shower in the dark. Odd feeling that. And then I went to bed. Still sick so going to bed early was fine. And then 15 minutes later or so the lights came back on. I’m glad it got sorted out quickly. Pretty much everything I do in this apartment requires electricity of some sort. It’s not like I can sit down and read a book by candlelight.

I am still somewhat sick. Throat infection I think. I’m hoping it will pass. My dad says I’ll need to see a doctor. But I’m waiting a little. I think it’s getting better. I just feel enormously tired now because the last two nights I have been waking up every 30 minutes from coughing. Other than that I’m not too bad.

And on Monday I managed to get out and see the goats. Had to check up on the baby. Everyone was fine. The little girl getting braver and braver. Starting to climb up on me. Adorable. I took some pictures, but I managed to have my new camera set to black’n’white mode for most of them. Whoops. Still learning the new settings. But hopefully the pictures are still cute. Let’s see.

That’s me holding the baby, and Mio checking in. I don’t pick the baby up too much, because mama is quite the worrier. But as long as I scratch her, Mio that is, then she calms down and it’s ok. She’ll even start grazing while I sit with her girl.

Like here.

Look at the view from up here.

She tried getting in on her own a couple of times and fell down. But she just shook it off and tried again. And eventually she made the jump.

And starting to climb on me.

And there’s Kamel, with maximum zoom. Still not sure when and if she will be having babies. She’s built very differently from other boer goats I’ve known. She’s quite stocky, it’s hard to tell if there’s anything in her belly. But you’d think there would be something coming sooner or later with all the time she has spent with Preben.

That’s all for now. Better go rest. I managed to do 40 minutes on the exercise bike today, but I am devilishly tired. Can barely keep my eyes open. I’ll probably have to stay home tomorrow too and rest. But I don’t want to miss too many days of Mio’s girl’s first experiences.

Oh right, I almost forgot. I have two videos of the baby too. Videos of my two first days with her.

Here is Wednesday:

And here is Thursday:

Both available in HD and colour, can you believe it?!

She is so adorable. What a cutey!

Hope you are feeling much better by now. Did you have to go to the doctor? Have you had your tonsils out? Hope you didn’t have strep throat. That really hurts.

It’s raining here. Hooray! The goats were out grazing in the light misty rain, but headed for cover when it really started raining. We need the rain so badly, too.

We are going out for brunch on Sunday to celebrate my sister’s birthday and mine. Her’s is on Monday and mine is on Tuesday. Dad likes brunch (and he’s buying) so it’s off to brunch we go!

We visited the 4 baby donkeys today. They are growing up so fast and are so friendly. I had one of the mama’s sticking close to me today. She really enjoyed getting scratches and ear rubs. Those long donkey ears must get itchy and hard for the donkey to scratch.

We’ve been working outside lately and it has been hot. When there is a breeze blowing, it’s bearable. But when it is still, yikes – it’s hot! Maybe the rain will cool things off for a day or so. I think it’s supposed to rain off and on all day tomorrow.
