Peak Fitness Equipment

Last week was much to do about goats. With Medium and Large leaving, Mia’s birthday and then Palle and Mia getting sick. This week has been more about the home front. My new cross trainer was delivered on Wednesday. The delivery guy dropped it off in the hallway downstairs. And it was so heavy that I had to call my dad for him to come help me get it up into my apartment. Good thing we could take the elevator at least. Lifting that thing would be enough exercise on it’s own I think!

So I stayed home Wednesday to receive it and then I stayed home Thursday to assemble it. That turned out to be a poor decision because what I didn’t know was that the playground had their annual dyrskue (animal show) on that day. So I missed that. Too bad. If only they had written about it on their Facebook page. But hopefully I can make it next year. Per said that if I’m going stay away for days I should almost call them and warn them. Haha. It’s nice to be missed when you’re gone.

But Thursday was the big assembly day. I think my dad and I worked for almost 5 hours on it. I’m sure the job could have been done in 30 minutes by someone experienced. And more handy. But we aren’t exactly the most technically minded guys. And I am, of course, too blind to do much of it on my own. My dad did most of the work. Read the instructions and put things together. I mostly just fetched and held things. Lifted and laughed at jokes. Hard work! We got it mostly done, but after those 5ish hours I was pretty tired mentally and physically. My back hurts when I’m on my feet for that long and my mind gets stressed when I’m not able to hide away on my own for longer periods of time. So we stopped even though we weren’t completely done. But he came back today to get the last bit of cosmetic enhancement done. And now it’s ready for use. I have tested it out briefly, just to see that it works and get a little feel for it. It’s kind of odd. Like skiing in place without snow. But hopefully it’ll be good.

It was nice to spend some father/son time and just work together. Maybe we should build a soap box car next!

The cross trainer isn’t the only new piece of equipment I have gotten though. I also bought myself a space heater. According to google it’s called a fan heater, but I think space heater sounds funnier. I have used it yesterday and today. And it seems to work great. I put it on and point it at my exercise bike and then I do my 3 hours or so. And it’s hot. It’s like the hottest summer day. With the heat directed straight at me. I love it, so far. I need the heat to really feel motivated and get effective exercise done. The space heater isn’t quite the same as the sun on my back. But it’s super hot and makes me sweat a lot as I bike. I recorded a new record low weight on the scales after exercising today. If the heater works as well when temperatures start to drop outside (which it seems they will soon) then that could really make a difference. I am quite pleased with it. So with the space heater and the cross trainer I have good tools to keep working hard and losing weight.

On the goat front things have been quite quiet this week. Mia and Palle are back in good health. Which has been a big relief of course. Like Bodil said, they didn’t know how I’d take it if we lost those two. It would crush me completely. But it was just simply overeating and they’re doing just fine now. Happy and full of life and ready to eat anything they can get their hooves on. Because even though goats are smart they never learn restraint!

So I have just been relaxing with the goats. Enjoying the last of the summer time. We have had a good deal of visitors. People who remember me from previous visits. Kids who love to get to know the goats and talk to me about them. Bodil came over with a young couple, too. In their early twenties probably. They had a lovely german shepherd puppy. The girl wanted to say hello to the goats, but she was somewhat scared of them. She told me she thought she must have had a bad experience with goats in her childhood. She had this image of them as voracious, dangerous things that would try to eat her kneecaps. I guess you could describe them as voracious haha. But not dangerous, not ours anyway. I think it put her at ease seeing me being close to them without any problems. She took her time but eventually started stroking Kamel’s back. She seemed really happy that she dared to do it. “Yes, a succes experience!”. It was nice talking to her. She asked if I were the goat whisperer then. That’s what Bodil calls me, yes. Haha. Then I got Palle to jump up on my back and she burst out “he really IS the goat whisperer, how cool!”. They seemed happy with it all. And it’s always nice for me when I get to help people get closer to the goats, whether it’s kids or grownups. I feel like something of a goat ambassador sometimes.

Now on with the pictures.

Lovely face of Kamel.

You know Mia is feeling better when she tries to climb the walls to get fed.

Much better.

I was just really happy that she was feeling better.

Mamma Mio.

Mio and Mia, obviously expecting that I brought treats for them.

Mother and baby close.

And Palle with his fancy new collar. I think he got Medium’s old collar. It seems too big for him and I’d honestly prefer if he didn’t have to wear it. But the little guy is growing up!

And a goatlog with the goats back to health and going at the greens and all that stuff.

And that’s all for this week. See you in the next.

Very nice, Goat Ambassador…I love your “readings” and all the pictures and videos. Thanks for sharing! <3

Thanks Terri! I know you see most of it on Facebook, so I appreciate you taking the time to look at the blog as well!

I’ll take some of your cooler weather. It was up to 99 F today (37 C) with a hot wind blowing. We were able to work inside today and tomorrow on a job – even had air conditioning!

Then it’s back outside in the heat to work. Looks like we’re in the upper 90’s till next week, with only a 30% chance of rain on one day. Which means it probably won’t rain.

Guess who’s birthday is on August 28th???? ME, ME, ME! My parents, sister and her husband, and my husband and I are going out to eat chicken on Wed evening. My sister’s birthday is on August 27th, so we’re celebrating both birthday’s on Wed.

I received a new purse and a new watch from my husband. We bought the watch on Monday and today (Tues) my old watch stopped working! Guess I “timed” that right. Hee, hee.

“Try to eat her kneecaps”, my goodness, some people must have had terrible childhood memories of our dear sweet goatzies. Good thing you were around to set that lady straight about how sweet, good, and naughty goats can be.

That’s our Lasse, educating people about the joys of having a good goat friend!

Debster – I’d like some hotter weather, too bad we can’t trade! Although 37 would be a bit much. Wouldn’t need a space heater with those kinds of temperatures.
Oh I missed your birthday! Darn. Happy birthday to both you and your sister! I hope it was a good time. It sounds lovely. I miss having chicken. But at least I have tomatoes!

Thank you for the birthday wishes! I had fried sweet chile chicken, sweet potatoes, cooked carrots, and a cinnamon roll. It was a buffet, so each person could pick out what they wanted to eat.

I have been eating so much fruit for lunches lately, I decided to go with the sweet potatoes and carrots for a change.

We have a great salad bar at one of the places we like to eat lunch at during work. I like the musk melons, watermelon, grapes, strawberries, pineapple, and berries. And I get some hard-cooked eggs and thin slices of cucumbers and put some salt and pepper on them.

I usually stay away from salting anything at the table, but with working outside when it’s so hot, I need a little salt replacement if I don’t drink Gatorade or some sports drink to replenish the salt.

Guess I need a salt or mineral block like the goats have in their pen! Hee, hee Bet that would raise some eyebrows if I came into a restaurant and plopped down a big salt block on the table and started licking it between bites of food.

John Boy likes to do that in the winter time. He eats a bite of hay, then licks the mineral block, then eats some more hay, then back to the mineral block. Silly goat!

Saturday and Sunday are still going to be hot, but then we have a cool down coming with temps to be 15 to 20 degrees cooler. Hooray! This heat and humidity is hard on us. We worked inside two days and that helped, but still have a ways to go to finish this huge outside project.

Debster< – Sounds very good! I wouldn’t mind a buffet. Of salad bars. Yum. Hah, a salt block for humans! That’d be something. Why not, if it works for goats! I hope you’ll get some cooldown. It’s been pretty cold here today. Well, 13-15C. That’s cold to me these days! I can’t wait for next summer! Any day now.
