The Festive Feast

Well, that snow didn’t last long. I had the nice Friday morning with the goats in the snow. And when I came back Monday? Nothing left. The goats seemed quite confused by it too. When the hatch was opened for them, Mia and Palle stuck their heads out and looked around and seemed baffled. They jumped out and went around the pen. Then to the fence and looked outside the pen. They actually seemed somewhat nervous and perturbed. Maybe it was because there was a thick, grey fog. Looked like a 70s horror movie almost! I got a really cute video of them coming out and it really matched the video of them coming out in the snow, but unfortunately I somehow managed to delete most of the video footage I shot on Monday. Darn. Would have been a nice companion piece.

On Thursday the goats had a christmas tree to play with. That was really nice. Normally they’ll get an old one after the holidays, but this year christmas came early. Sigrid told me that they had hung bread and carrots and such on the tree and the goats had danced around it on Wednesday! I wish I’d been there for that. But she said they’d taken pictures and Nina said she’d filmed it. So hopefully I’ll get to see that. There was still plenty left on the tree to munch on. I added more tree chunks to my wooden staircase, so Mia and Palle could climb up on that and eat from the top of the tree while Kamel and Mio went at it from below. Everyone very excited!

I have had nice things in the mail as well. A New Orleans magnet from David. A lovely card from Laura and Paola in Italy. And a big package from Debbie and Sam!
I was expecting a big deluxe cd boxset that I hard ordered from the States so I thought that was what was in the box. Was quite surprised when I opened it and found towels and washcloths etc! Thank you, guys! It’s beginning to look a lot like christmas!

Now, it’s beginning to look a lot like goat photos.

Mia and Palle surprised by the lack of snow and not quite sure what to do about it.

Nope, no snow anywhere to be found.

Mio on the bench.

Mio and me.

Palle with those eyes and ears.

Kamel is a bit too heavy to climb the staircase but she can make the first step at least!

Goatie kisses from Mia.

Mio trying to steal Mia’s spotlight!

Mia looking sweet.

Mia and Palle at the tree.

Enjoying the tree.

Getting all up in there.

They pretty much toppled the tree.

And finally another plate of tomatoes. Now with cucumber.

And videos. First a fun little circus with Mia and Palle running around and jumping like crazy. While Bodil and I talk in the background. It’s been a long time since I saw Mia that riled up. Wonderful to watch.

And a goatlog of the week with the usual fun stuff plus christmas tree shenanigans.

And that’s all for this week, folks. See you in the next one.

Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree, how lovely are thy branches – in my tummmmy!

I don’t think a person could raise goats and have a Christmas tree farm. Our boys have never had a Christmas tree as we have an artificial tree. They would probably try to eat that.

Glad you received your package. Hope you like the bath towels. I thought they were such a pretty color and would brighten up your bathroom on these dreary winter days.

I like them all! Thank you for thinking of me! And also thank you for the card and note that arrived a couple of days later! Merry christmas to you and Sam and the gang. Don’t eat the tree, whether it’s plastic or not!
