March On

It’s been a rather lovely week. Lots of sunshine and almost warm temperatures. I actually managed to be overdressed for a change. Came home from the playground drenched in sweat. Also because I’d been carrying around heavy chunks of wood. Rebuilding one of the wooden staircases for the goats. Good exercise. Meanwhile, the goats preferred to just sit around lazily in the sunshine. I love when they do that. Especially when Mia and Palle sat down together on the bench. Like they were waiting for the bus, it was commented on Facebook. You know spring is coming when they start sitting down. They rarely do that when it’s cold.

Actually, it’s March now. So spring is officially here. March has been known to be treacherous, weatherwise. But the 15 day forecast shows temperatures above 5C on all days. Like Bodil said “you almost don’t dare to think winter is over”. But maybe it is. I am really looking foward to warmer days.

In other news, still no goat babies. And it looks like there won’t be. Yup. I went back and redid the math. And it’s more than 6 months since Medium and Large left now. So since goats are pregnant for 5 months…. that means Medium can’t have gotten Mio pregnant. Which is good, after all. I guess we _did_ remove him in time. But of course I’m a little sad that I won’t be having goat babies around just yet. I was looking forward to seeing them jump around on the things I’ve been building. And after building up all this anticipation!

I was so sure she was pregnant because of the way she has ballooned up. Kurt came by the other day and just by looking at her said “yeah, that’s just fat”. And Dennis and I have both tried feeling to see if we can feel any babies inside. Without any luck. And of course her udders are still not pronounced. In fact it seems like Mia’s udders are more pronounced than Mio’s. But I’m sure that just because Palle was drinking from her until recently. I dont want to go into any crazy “maybe MIA is pregnant” theories.

It’s all very puzzling, though. Guess the old lady needs to go on a diet. She’s always chasing the others away from the food. Now you see where that gets you!

There is talk of Kurt sending one of his bucks to the playground for a while. I’m not sure how soon, but I guess we could have kids at the end of summer then. Personally, I wouldn’t mind if we waited. Although I love having goat kids at the playground I wouldn’t mind if Mio and Mia got a little break. But we’ll see. As long as they are all happy and healthy.

Nothing new about the possible closing of the playground, really. Alice came and talked to me about it. She said that if they did have to close then she’d do her best to find a place where the goats could go together so they wouldn’t be split up. And hopefully a place where I could still go see them. But I hope it won’t come to that. I think she said the public hearing period ends in August, and who knows how long it might be after that before anything gets decided. So nothing will happen for a while yet.

Lots of good times still ahead, no matter what. And now photos ahead.

Funny Mia.

Pretty Mia.

Mio spotted some chickens in the distance and was very alarmed. Kept a close watch while snorting and sneezing.

Aw Palle. That face.

Mio and me.

And a goatlog. Lots of fun stuff. Goats sitting in the sun. Chasing each other around. Jumping and butting heads. Alarmed at chickens and dogs. Kamel enjoying a really juicy pear. And so on and so forth.

And that’s all for this week, folks. See you in the next one.

That photo was cute with you and the two goatzies with their hooves up. You do have a way with those goatzies.

Do you have anything in Denmark that needs painting? I’m coming over there as it seems to be much warmer and no snow! We had 4 or 5 inches of blowing snow this morning. Yuck!

Anything at all, I can paint. The playground sheds, inside the main building, etc. Just saying . . .

Get me out of this cold white wilderness!

It was cute when it happened! They all like their hooves rubbed and they’ll put them up for me to do it (Palle is the only one who hasn’t learned to do that yet). And they just happened to both do it at the same time.
It’s been a sunny weekend and 12-13 degrees. Pretty good! I’ll ask the goats if they have anything they need painted!
