The Frost Pen Report

It’s been a week.

Can’t argue with that. We’re just about halfway into December now. I can’t hardly believe it. Christmas is just 10 days away, and a cartridge in a dox matrix printer tree. Something something. The forecast says 7% chance of a white christmas, apparently. We did have some snow in Denmark this week. But I don’t think we got any around here. At least not while I peeked out the windows.

I did have one frosty morning. The goat pen covered in white frostiness. The water bucket in the pen iced over. Brrr. But maybe that’s better than all the mud we’ve also had after passing storms? I do prefer when the sun shines, I do I do. It’s nice seeing the sun rise when I’m up at the goats early. The sun rises late, so I get to see it come up over the treeline.

Other than that there’s really not much to tell. Maybe the goats have a story or two?

Starting with another meme.

Kamel thought the family photo needed a little more snout.

I think Mia may be starting to grow a little beard…

Yup. I wonder if it’ll get to Mio’s size? It would be weird to see her like that after so long with no beard!

An early christmas present from Bodil! It’s a christmas mouse. Or rat? It talks. If you say something to it, it will say it back in a mousy voice. When Bodil showed it to me I had to laugh out loud which made the mouse laugh, which made Bodil laugh which made the mouse laugh again. It’s a silly old thing! The goats weren’t talkative so I didn’t get any goat playback. But Palle did try to eat its christmas hat.

Phftttt.

It’s the mud season!

The incredible two-headed goat kid!

Phew! I hope you like goats.

And if you do, there’s also a goatlog. With Mia’s beard. With frost and sunrise. With Bruce surfing the wheelbarrow. Rainy day brother fight. Talking mouse. And so on.

And that’s all for this folks, see you in the next week.

Bruce’s little neck is starting to really get brown. Our Billy gets really brown on his chest in the winter.

Mia is growing a beard. How cute. I like goatzie beards. They do tend to get wet and freeze during cold weather though. Not to mentipn what the boy goats do to their beards so they are more attractive to the lady goats!

It has been cloudy it seems like for weeks. It did warm up over the weekend, but still cloudy and foggy. I want to see some sunshine!

That mousy is sure cute. The goats were very curious about it. They notice everything that is new or different, don’t they?

He looks quite different now than when he was just born, little Bruce! He’s a big, strong boy now too. Yesterday I caught him pushing Palle a good way back. And then Clark came to join in and Palle seemed to think “Okay, I’m out” and retreated.
It’s going to be weird if Mia gets a beard the size of Mio’s! She’ll look so different. I wonder if she would mind me trimming it!? Haha. Well, she’ll still be my cutie.
By the by, there’s a little christmas present on its way to you. I’m not sure it’ll make it in time. And it’s a tiny thing. A very, very tiny thinkg. No, not a baby goat. Much tinier than that. So it’s nothing to get excited about, but it’s something!

Oh, my! I will be looking for a teeny, tiny present from you. I sent you a Christmas card sometime this month!

It has been so hectic in December with work and everything going on. I sent out cards over a few days last week.

Are you going to your parents house for Christmas? What’s on the menu and are you watching Donald Duck?

We’re taking my Mom and Dad to my sister and her husband’s house on Christmas Day for lunch. We all live fairly close by, so we don’t have long travel times. We are all bringing something for the meal so no one person has to do everything.

My brother-in-law had a total knee replacement on Dec 1st, so we all decided to meet there instead of going to my parent’s house on Christmas eve. He’s doing very well, but they didn’t want to be out after dark on the roads.

We seem to have some snow or drizzle about every other day along with it being deer season. The deer are everywhere at night and we don’t want to have a collision!

We’ll have a nice meal, some dessert and coffee and then open presents. Hooray! We don’t go in on huge gifts, usually something small and things we use all the time.

It probably sounds like we can’t go out of our house and drive down the road without running into a deer! Our state isn’t the highest one in deer-car accidents, but it’s up there in the top ten, I believe. I’ve hit one a few years ago and my husband has hit two in the past. It’s not a fun thing to have happen to your car or the poor deer.

Poor deer, the poor dears! I am sure hitting them is no fun for anyone. I remember as a kid when we’d go on vacation in Sweden we’d be driving down forest roads with “elk” signs at the side. We never hit any, thank goodness. It was always exciting though, staring out into the woods hoping to see elk. Anyway. Funny how memories pop up sometimes.
Christmas this year will be the same as every other year, pretty much. Just our little old christmas. Should be quite nice, although not white. A muddy christmas I suspect.
