Tails Of Two Goats
Today is my birthday! And as an early birthday present, this Tuesday I got… another goat baby!
I had actually planned to spend the day in bed, because I do that sometimes when I’m feeling a little down. I was woken by my phone. I didn’t answer it, but looked at the display. Saw that it had been a call from the playground. So I had to call back. I was worried something bad might have happened. But Mio had a baby. Herman snuck one last one in before he left. Certainly not a planned pregnancy. But we’ll take it as a blessing.
It’s another boy. He has quite a different temperament than Mia’s boy Peanut. Even though the new guy was born quite big he did not have the same energy as Peanut. I was worried the first few days because he wasn’t doing much. Barely anything at all, really. But I guess I was just unfairly comparing him to Peanut who was bouncing around like crazy on day two and is continuing to pick up new things very fast. But the new guy has started finding his hooves. Bouncing around. Exploring new things. I am sure it won’t be too long before he and Peanut will be getting into trouble together. So far they haven’t really had that much interaction because Mio is super protective. The two mothers share a room, but if Mia or Peanut get too close to the new baby then they get chased away with a fierce growl. Mio is taking very good care of him. And he is a little, sweet cutiepie. And Peanut is a bundle of joy and energy. Bruce and Clark have competition!
So that’s been my week! Fun with goats. And now I’m old. So very old.
Go go goat photos. First with a couple of humans, though.
Little goathelper Abdul and a friend. I often get that when kids see my camera. “TAKE OUR PICTURE!”.
And goatlogs. With tons of baby goat fun.

And that’s all for this week, folks. See you in the next one.

Happy, Happy belated birthday! What a nice surprise – another beautiful baby goatzie. He is so sweet. Lots of excitement at the playground with those two cuties.
You are not that old, my dear danish goat boy. You are still a young goatzie, after all. Did you go out to eat with your family or do something special?
All of our snow has melted in the last week and on Saturday we heard frogs singing. A sure sign of spring. My husband was cleaning out the animal pen and I was cleaning up my flower beds today. It was warm outside, but very windy.
I donated blood on Friday the 13th. That makes a total of 8 gallons I have donated so far. I will donate again in May.
We have been seeing huge flocks of migrating snow geese. They are flying so high and are so pretty (and noisy). Do you watch for any spring migrating birds or flowers? I haven’t seen any tulips or daffodils blooming yet.

Thank you, thank you! Had dinner 16th with the family. And spent good time with the goats. Can’t complain! The goat boys sure are sweet and fun. Slowly starting to bounce around together too. I anticipate much fun! And the days are getting lighter and the weather is beocming warmer. Can’t complain indeed!
I don’t watch for birds, I probably wouldn’t see them properly! I have started seeing flowers around though. Nice. Speaking of birds, unfortunately someone broke into the cage at the playground and stole all but one parakeet. Some humans are just… horrible. Hope they at least get treated well wherever they are now.

Oh, no! I always liked hearing the parakeets twitter and cheeping in the background of your videos. I hope they are all ok wherever they went.
I “bird” a lot by ear. We hear birds all the time in the summer when we work outside. After I hear them, I start looking for them. I’ll bet your sense of hearing is fairly sharp. You probably hear common birds around the playground all the time.
I was listening to a cardinal this morning while I was in the house. He was singing so pretty. We had about 18 cardinals this winter at the feeders. Maybe a pair will stay around and nest.
We think our squirrel has made a nest in a maple tree. It was looking really big this winter, so we might have baby squirrels this spring!
John Boy and Billy really enjoed some grooming a few days ago. The weather was nice and sunny, so we were able to spend some time outside with them. Even Snickers stood still for combing. Then the two cats wanted some attention. All the animals look nice and are as ready for spring as we are.
We are already on daylight savings time so that really helps with more daylight in the evening after work. I saw the first daffodils of the season over the weekend. Tulips will be popping up next.

We just had our daylight saved. Boo hiss. I prefer when we gain an hour. But at least it’s warmer and brighter now. So that’s good. I will miss the birdsong too. Although I think one parakeet was left and there is talk about getting a mate for it. Maybe there will still be some birdsong. We’ll see. I have heard the thing about people with diminished eyesight getting better hearing. Unfortunately I haven’t really experienced that! I think my hearing is a little diminished too actually. Maybe I’m just getting older! Oh dear.
