The Return of Peanut
The big news of the week is that Peanut is back. And that’s about the only weeks, at least that I can write about now.
Things are going pretty well with the goats. Peanut settling in nicely. It’s good to have him back. But I’m going to just quote my Facebook post about it. Because that’s easier for Lazy Lasse.

So, Peanut’s back! Now it’s So White and the 7 goats. I was actually heading home when Dennis called me. Of course I was pretty much all the way home. But when he told me that Peanut was coming I had to walk back so I could be there. It was interesting seeing him come back in the pen. Reminded me of Herman’s arrival. Lots of curious sniffing. And then lots of chasing and headbutting. Yeah, he’s been gone so long and he’s so big now that it’s pretty much like getting a new goat. So now the hierarchy needs to readjust itself. Mio quickly reminded him that when the Mio train charges, you get out the way. Mia was after him too. I’m not sure how familial they are now. Peanut was always very independent, though. She’s not as close to him as she is to Palle. He’s more of a competitor. So Peanut had some running to do. I tried to break things up with some strategically placed bunches of hay and the occasional treats. I wasn’t sure how he’d feel about me after so long. I don’t know how much human contacft he had at the other place. But I’m pretty sure he didn’t have any crazy goat guys just sitting around with him. And he’s always had a bit of a wild side. So I was a little worried if he’d get mad if I touched him. But nope. He was perfectly fine with being scratched and cuddled. Of course it probably helped that I quicky reminded him that I carry a treat bag. You can’t be mad at the guy with the treat bag.
Eventually things settled down a little. First he was eating from the same hayholder as Palle. Then later on both Palle and Mia. He didn’t get much chance to spend a lot of time with the little ones, because they were just doing their own thing while the grownups handled the politics. But he did get the chance to sniff at them a little, and seemed curious, but the other things were a more pressing concern for them. Of course he could be the daddy of some or all of them. My guess is that he’s Fuzzy’s dad, but that’s just speculation. I don’t know if I’ll be able to tell from the way he interacts with them when things have settled down. He wouldn’t have known he made babies before he left and I don’t know if he’d even be able to tell after all this time, that a baby was his. And with them being all little, growing, males he might just see them all as rivals. Well, we’ll see.
I’ll have my hands full when I take them all out now. And we’ll see if he’s picked up any new tricks. He’s so big now. I hope he won’t be able to jump the fences! The guys who dropped him off asked if we had any other, smaller goats. He was a little too big and wild and eager to jump fences for their place. They’ll be looking for pygmies or dwarfs. We’re used to the boer mixes here.
That’s the story. Welcome back, Peanut!

And there you go. Seven goats, it’s a crowded pen now. Lots of fun ahead, I’m sure. Also, goat photos ahead.
And videos
And that’s all for this week, folks. See you in the next one.

Welcome back Peanut! What a gorgeous boy you’ve turned out to be. How does it feel to be back home again? Thanks for helping out the other playground’s lonely goat.
Looks like you have some of those blue skies and fluffy white clouds. It rained here today and was really windy the previous several days.
My tulips are just about ready to bloom even though we had below freezing temps a few days ago. Such odd weather we are having. I’m ready for some warmer and sunnier times.

I think Peanut is happy to be home, and back to getting treats! Though grandma is a challenge.
We’ve had some lovely, sunny days. But also some grey ones. But at least winter is over, that’s what I keep telling myself!
