Well I got good news and I got bad news. The bad news is I couldn’t get an appointment at my doctor before Friday. The good news is I got an appointment with my new doctor, so not the last guy. So now I just have to try to survive till then.
If things get worse there are emergency numbers you can call so I’m sure it’ll be fine.

Good goat times today. Got out and goated, happily so. There were visitors at the fence when I arrived, so that was fun. Kids enjoying their goat time as well. We had a mini-Keiko today! I didn’t see it myself, but suddenly hear done of their grownups say “No don’t touch it there, don’t touch the goat in the butt”. Haha. The berry zone is for unloading only.
Other than that just lots of cuddles and snacks and some headbutting, the goats not me, and some rain too.

What’s for dinner tonight?
Vegetables.
Yes, did you know you can boil vegetables and eat them?! Revolutionary!
Trying to get a little healthier living, you know because I’m obviously not doing so great. So trying some healthier meals. In between the pizza and fries. I actually quite like just vegetables. I know for most people it would not be a real meal. But just a plate of boiled potatoes, carrots, peas and a little sweet corn I think it’s called. That’s good. I mean sure it doesn’t have cheese and greese and salt. But I don’t know. Boiled potatoes are yummy. Anyway I’m trying. Even considering getting back on the exercise bike. Maybe I just need to get in better shape. Maybe that’s all that’s wrong. Yeah yeah yeah.

Fascinating stuff if you’re a Twin Peaks fan. Especially the Frank Silva stuff. I know i’ve written about it many times, how Killer BoB is the one thing that truly scares me, that I still have nightmares about occasionally. It’s fascinating to see Frank Silva as himself. So funny and charming, and by all accounts the sweetest person ever. You’d never think that he’d play a character who’d traumatise me for life, hah. It’s so sad that he passed away so young. In this thing he even talks about wanting a third part to the Twin Peaks story. So sad that he couldn’t be part of The Return.
Just a fascinating story about how he became part of the show and all that. Life’s weird sometimes. Like a David Lynch movie.

Oh by the way, who’s got two thumbs and practically knocked himself out yesteday?
This guy. I managed to bang my head against a cupboard door, the edge of it too. It was a floor level cupboard. It’s still called a cupboard when it’s below the kitchen counter, right? Or ? I don’t know, I just live here. Anyway, i’d left it open. And then I dropped something on the floor. And being blind I did the smart thing and quickly bent down to pick it up and smashed my head into the edge of the cupbard door. Ouch. For a second I thought I was bleeding from my head. But it didn’t break the skin after all. probably didn’t break my skull either. Maybe I should add skull xray to the chest and lung xrays. Anyway. So if I start acting salmon ballon erratic then it may porsche be the achtung baby behind the music, do you smell purple? You should probably put on some deodorant then.

Good doctor times today. Had my appointment this morning. With the doctor who is my new regular doctor after the last one left. And I’m glad to say that she is super sweet and friendly and nice and seems attentive. I brought blood pressure measurements that I’ve been taking from home because my bp is usually a higher when I get it taken at the doc’s office (because of my anxiety I assume) and she was all ‘oh that’s great, that’s a good idea’ and stuff. Just really nice. Oh and the blood pressure was good. I was a little worried it was too low before bedtime. It starts out close to the high end when I get up and then before bed the highest number get quite a bit lower. But the doc said they were great, apparently when you’re diabetic having the numbers on the low side aren’t a bad thing.
And well what did we come up with? Well I got a new appointment next week to have bloodworks done. Like, all the blood. Not just the tests I get regularly for the diabeetus, but all the tests. And a heart diagram. Is that the ekg thing? Well, it’s a heart thing anyway, so that’s good. And then I have to get an appointment at a specielist to get xrays of my lungs. So stuff is happening now. That’s good. She said that I could call in if I started feeling worse, but otherwise I’ll come in when we got the results of the bloodwork. “it’s been going for too long now so we gotta find out what’s up” she said. I like her so so much better than the last guy.
And I got a flu shot too, so that’s good. And now we’ll just have to see what we come up with. At least stuff is happening now.
I generally feel a little better. Especially when I’m not doing anything. But I still get out of breath when doing stuff. And wiped out from goat trips and shopping trips. Here’s to hoping we can figure it out.

Did you know that I had a letter featured in the September 1993 issue of The One? It’s true, I did! The One was my favourite Amiga magazine. It was British, but I could buy it in m local kiosk anyway. And I got it every month. It was quite the thrill seeing my name in their pages. I was 15 at the time. I even brought the magazine to school to school and just casually mentioned ‘oh hey guys, lookit this’. Haha.
My letter was only actually three factual questions, so it’s not very interesting. But if you want to see it, you cna go to this page and do a search for my name in the text:

It’s funny to look at now. The questions about the Ultimas. Hah! No, thos games did not come out for the Amiga and there was no way they could ever have done so. Ultima 7 and Ultima Underworld 2 would later go on to be two of my absolute favourite games of all time. On the PC.
But the answer from The One that you never know if they could come out for the Amiga was totes faulty, wishful thinking.
The third question was about Goal! and that game is in fact now and still and forever my favourite computer game of all time. I spent countless hours, days, even years playing that game. After I handed my Amiga to my brother, when I got my PC, I still played Goal! on the Amiga in his room. I think I even snuck in and played the game while he was sleeping in his bed next to the computer, but don’t tell anyone about that.
Anyway, funny that in the letter I mention Goal and Ultima, if you added Monkey Island 2 you’d have my list of alltime top 3 favourite computer games.
So this was all terribly interesting, to me.
Those were the days, though. I miss The One. Seems like I remember that magazine almost as fondly as I remember the computer and the games. Reading the monthly magazine was a big part of having a computer. Before my Amiga we had a Commodore 64 and I read Zzap!64. And when I got my PC I started reading PC Format. That’s the history of my computer life. Commdore 64 > Amiga > PC. Zzap!64 > The One > PC Format.
By the way, kids, magazines are like a blog but printed on paper. And you’d get a cassette or disk or cd with the magazine with games or demos or stuff on it. Cassettes, discs and cds are like a youtube video but on a piece of plastic. Now, let me tell you about VHS tapes.
