For Mathilde
It rained. It rained and rained. As if the skies were weeping.
Not to be melodramatic or anything.
I said my goodbyes to Mathilde today. I don’t know when she’ll be leaving tomorrow. But since I have a fairly late work day I probably will not get to see her. I’ll try my best. But it’s unlikely.
The playground was closed when I got there today. Late therapy and missing busses. There is nothing quite like standing in the rain and wondering if any busses at all will be coming. Still plenty of strikes and “sick leaves”. I wish they’d get their act together. But eventually a bus did come. And I locked myself in to be with the goats. Mathilde looking at me with her beautiful eyes. I hope she will be happy in her new home. I hope there will be people who appreciate her as much as I did.
Allow me to quote, yet again, my favourite song in the world.
If you have to go, don’t say goodbye
if you have to go, don’t you cry
if you have to go, I will get by
some day I’ll follow you, see you on the other side
It’s a song about dying, of course. But parting is much like a little death. Parting is such sorrow.
I will miss you, old girl.
long horses we are born
creatures more than torn
mourning our way home

Change is always death. We’re dying every minute in more ways then one. I’m sure Mathilde will have hot goat sex where she is going.
