Keeping Flowers In Full Bloom
I should like to introduce you to the wombat.
Not a very good picture, and to go with it a not very good video. Just for introductions. I’m hoping to make something better later.
I must say, “wombat” is definitely one of my most favourite of words. Isn’t it just lovely? Good words always remind me of that Monty Python sketch. Woody and tinny words. Wombat is very, very woody. Any suggestions for a name for the little critter?
Today I fed the animals. And it was with no little sadness that I looked at the feeding list and saw:
Yvonne: there is no pig (sniffle)
No Yvonne to feed. Ms Piggy is gone. I wasn’t there when she left. But I met Bodil yesterday and she had been there. She told me that it all went quietly and easily. So that’s good at least. And if there is a heaven for animals then I’m sure they have a place for a giant, sweet pig. She can rest now. I’m not sure I wrote about it, but the last time I got to feed her she could barely walk. Very different from how it used to be. You might remember that she was always the impatient one, the one who had to be fed first. I’d had to order her to step backwards because she’d come running up before I could empty the bucket of food into her trough. But that wasn’t a problem the last time, she could barely walk up to the trough, it was obvious she was in pain. That’s no life for anyone, animal or human. So I am glad that she is no longer in pain. And she will be remembered fondly. A family came by while I was feeding today, and the first thing they asked was “where is the pig?”. She was well known and loved. And it is very, very empty in there without her. She was so massive, not only physically but also just in her presence. She was beautiful and impressive.
Rest in peace, Yvonne.
Finally, thank yous to Deb, Selina and Jane. For the nice reception of my christmas card. It warms my heart that you liked it. Hope the rest of you will too. And a nice weekend to you all.

What terribly sad news! I guess that’s why I don’t have dogs or cats anymore. I’m not good with death at all. And it takes a long time for me to get over something like that.
Well, at least you got to spend some wonderful quality time with her before she passed. There isn’t anything more precious than that.
On a more positive note, your wonderful Christmas card arrived in the mail this morning. It’s always a treat to receive a tiny little gift from so far away. I love all the animals in the card! It’s so cute that the goats are wearing hats. They look so comfortable in them.
The back of the card made me laugh; I don’t think Mads and Magnethe are that mean to you. But, hey, I’m sure you can out run them! Just toss them some raisins and that will give you time to get away.
Thank you Lasse for the wonderful card. I shall keep it forever.

That video was adorable!
As for names…there’s always Wally, Wilbur, Walter, Warren, Willie, Wilson, Winston etc…
Sorry to hear about Yvonne as well. But she’s in a better place, I am sure of it.

Well, that wombat is a friendly little thing. He seems to like being in the video.
I was wondering how Yvonne was doing. We will miss her.

Luis – Yes, it’s sad. I can deal with this kind of thing better though, when it feels the time is “right”, if it ever is. It’s easier than it was with 3B and Springbok. Although it’s never easy.
I am glad you liked the card! It was fun to make. And I knew you guys would get a kick out of it.
Belinda – Yes, I had the same line of thinking when it comes to a name for him. Maybe I’ll just call him Womby hehe.
Deb – I think he likes the spotlight. I could barely tear him away from the camera.
I am glad I was able to share Yvonne with you guys.
