Hat’s Funny
And now, merry christmas to those of you who celebrate on the 25th.
And happy festivus to everybody.
And to those who don’t celebrate christmas or festivus: kisses and huggies and marshmallow lollipops.
My special present for you all: http://youtube.com/watch?v=eRuIVUpAWf0. Goat with christmas hats: the video.

Sweet goats in Santa hats! I liked the sleepy-time goat pictures in your previous post. Our goats have never went to sleep with me in the barn. Of course, it was quite a long time before we EVER saw the goats sleeping!
I was beginning to think our goats were “zombie goats” and didn’t sleep, just endlessly grazed grass.
What is Festivus? Is that Danish for Christmas or something else entirely??

Festivus is an imaginary holiday that the tv show ‘Seinfeld’ thought up. George’s father hated the commercialization of Christmas so he bought a metal pole instead of a Christmas tree.
Apparently, it’s catching on. There’s a company here in the States that sells metal poles online.
I kind of agree. There’s too much emphasis on buying. Look what happened with PS3 and all those people spending the nights and paying hundreds of dollars for the set.
I don’t understand it. To me it’s just stuff. But I ended up spending around $500 on gifts this month, which was way too much money. I just got caught up with the rush like everyone else.
Next year, I’m setting a limit. I’m giving everyone metal poles. I hope you’re having a wonderful Christams today, Plume and Deb. I’m sick with the flu. I had to drive to the only Walgreens open to get some medicine. Apparently, I wasn’t the only one. There were other sick people, too. The place looked more like a hospital than a drugstore.
I wonder if goats get colds, too?

Deb – Sleepy goats are so sweet. It’s not often I get to see them that sleepy either. I had in the past concocted sinister plans to sneak up there at night at see if I could catch them fully asleep. Only problem is that the chain on their pen is very heavy and noisy, so I’d wake them up when I tried to get in! I always love when I go to to feed them in the weekends and I unlock the chain and I hear them baahing because they know someone is coming…
Well, Luis already explained Festivus. But for further reading check out the wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Festivus
Luis – I really hate this thing with the ps3 and the wii and the what and the whoosits. The thing about intentionally understocking so you create a massive hysteria. I think it’s a shitty thing to do. But I’m sure they rake in the cash.
Next year I’ll get a metal pole too. And a bunch of strippers to dance around it. And peace on earth.
Anyway, hope you’re feeling better. I wonder if drugstore would make more money if they intentionally understocked? Why not. “yeah, we came up with a cure for cancer. The first 300 people can buy it, the rest of you will have to wait 6 months”.
I’m not sure if goats get colds, but they definitely sometimes cough. Vanilje did a week or so ago. She suddenly started coughing. I was almost getting worried. But she only coughed a couple of times, maybe she just got something down the wrong pipe. At the speed those goats eat, it’s almost surprising that they manage to get it all down the right way.

Ahhh, yes, the old Costanza tradition, how could I have forgotten! Silly me! I used to watch Seinfeld but I’d forgotten about that tradition.
Oh, Luis! Sick at Christmas. Bah, humbug. That’s no fun at all. I wondered why there were so many people at our local Walgreen store on Christmas Day. Everyone must be sick all over. Get well soon, okay?
I’ve had a sinus, allergy, cold thing going on for the last 9 weeks. I’m finally feeling better this week after 10 days of antibiotics, 6 days of prednisone, allergy tablets twice a day, and nasal spray. I’d get better, then it would come back. I hope it is on it’s way out. Out damn cold, out!
I even had a CT scan of my sinuses to make sure there wasn’t a problem and it came back normal/clear. So, I guess I have lots of “empty storage space” up there in my sinuses now! My husband always said he knew my head was empty. Now he has proof!
Goats can get pneumonia due to bad ventalation or unsanitary conditions. Goats do best in fresh air with shelter, but not kept in barns/stalls all the time. Seems like the more crowded together they are, the more chance of getting sick. Sounds like us humans, huh?
One of our goats, Billy is bad about wanting to eat ALL the food. We feed them in two pans and keep watch over Billy so he doesn’t eat John-Boy’s food. We let Billy know “we” are the alpha goats and “we” decide that both goats get to eat their own food. Billy is certainly a “pig me” (pygmy) goat.

Deb – I wonder if Mads sees me as a goat. And if he does, does he see me as an alpha goat? Well, he doesn’t attack me and try to chase me away so maybe he does. But then, if Magnethe fed him treats I bet he wouldn’t chase her away either! If it was up to Mads then he would get everything to himself, treats and food and hay and whatever else he has coming to him. I try to make sure that everyone gets their share, but I must admit I also find it charming how egocentric he can be. I guess it’s a balance, not to let him be a complete bastard, but not totally tame him either. Hehe. Goats.
