Grab The Yoke From The Pilot

I am feeling a little down, for some reason. A little alone in the universe.

But instead of thinking about that I would rather post some pictures from yesterday. The goats were out in the snow. In fact, they escaped their pen and walked around on the grounds.

mads

Woolly Mads in crazy colours.

And Magnethe having a look around. They were looking for eats of course.

mads

Snooping around where they weren’t supposed to go.

mads

Up to the main building too.

mads

Mmm. Kamikaze gourmets!

I like when the goats are walking around like that. Free as a goat. That’s how it should be. More fun for me too, I get to walk around with them and socialize with people more.

Although not everyone is a fan of free ranging goats. A couple of times I heard kids shouting “aaagh the goats are free” or “oh no, it’s Mads!”. Haha. Of course there’s no danger when Plume is around to keep them in check.

Just tell that to the lambs though. Look at those muddy feet. Like he’s wearing boots.

lambs

Three lambs from behind. Can you guess which one is Mini. I’ll give you a hint. SHE’S THE SMALL ONE! Okay then. Good picture for size comparison.

And finally another Magnethe.

magnethe

With her tail in the air. She’s a sweetie.

I am unable to formulate further thoughts.

Plume, the little girl in pink doesn’t look to happy to be so close to Magnethe! Our goats are still enjoying their sticks and branches in their pen. My husband and I started picking up sticks in our yard yesterday.

We had the goats out while we were stick picking. The boys just love to wander around in the yard, look for dead leaves to eat, sticks to chew on, and to stare at the dogs. The dogs are in pens and they were watching my husband with the chain saw while Billy was watching the dogs. And I was watching Billy! Okay, so I was taking a little break. (Sticks . . . break . . . get it? Ha, ha)

I am soooo ready for Spring. I’ve seen pelicans and Meadowlarks already and I don’t think any of our robins migrated this year. Silly birds. One robin had staked out his territory in a crab apple tree and was chasing off cedar waxwings that had decided to stop in for a crab apple or two. Poor robin was busy as I counted 32 waxwings!

Hope you are feeling better and it’s just a fleeting “down” feeling. I get those too sometimes. I haven’t been sleeping all that well. Plus I’ve been running, talking, and tossing and turning while I’m sleeping. My husband says he can’t get a word in during the day and now he can’t talk when I’m sleeping. I just don’t shut up is what I think he’s trying to say!

Are you sure Magnethe isn’t preggers? She’s looking mighty big to me unless that’s all her winter coat. She looks happy to be a free-range goat at least for a little while.

Hugs to you my friend! I love the 3 behinds! Couldn’t for the life of me guess which one was mini though! Heh heh! It’s a terrible feeling to feel alone in the world. I am thinking about you and hoping that this to will pass! Take care of yourself the weekend is just around the corner!

  3. Plume Says:

Debster – The little girl was definitely a little uneasy about the situation! But to her credit she didn’t run away. Some kids take off in a hurry when they see a big goat approaching!
They have started pruning the trees at the playground today. Lots of branches lying around. Good news for the goats.
You have pelicans? Wow. Pelicans are neat. Some birds are fascinating aren’t they. Pelicans and penguins and flamingoes. And hummingbirds. And more probably. I don’t even know what a waxwing is!
I think I’m feeling better, thanks. Wouldn’t it be funny if you and your husband were both sleeptalking, and you were having a conversation in your sleep without knowing it? That would be fun. Maybe that’s what I need to overcome my fear of conversation. Sleeptalking. It would probably be hard to convince people to lie down and sleep next to me just to have a conversation though. Hmm.
They still say Magnethe isn’t pregnant. In fact Pernille called her fat the other day! How ruuuude! I don’t know. There’s a part of me that still thinks she’s pregnant. I’d like to say it’s my “goat intuitivity” talking. But it’s probably more my “I don’t want Magnethe to go away for a month to be with a buck” feeling. She’s big though, no doubt. Big big big. Not fat. But big boned.

Debbie – Hugs right back at you! It’s now weekend and I’m feeling rather better. Next time I take a picture of the lambs I’ll put a big red arrow pointing at Mini so you won’t be able to miss her! Heheh!

Google Cedar Waxwing for picture and info. They are very pretty little birds. We call them “wheezy waxwings” because they make a wheezy little noises when they fly. I can hear bird calls and remember which bird makes the call, but I have a hard time remembering numbers. Like my phone number, social security number, tv channels, etc. Guess numbers aren’t as important as remembering which bird sings what song.

I don’t know, Plume. Sounds like a cheap pick-up line to me. Hey baby, come sleep next to me so we can sleeptalk! Wouldn’t work with my husband, he can’t hold a conversation when he’s awake let alone asleep!

  5. Plume Says:

Debster – They are quite pretty yes! Numbers are nothing but trouble. I’d rather hear the birds sing, frankly.
Whaddaya mean “cheap pick-up line”? I spent a lot of money on that! Badabing.
