Summershine

Oh deary dear. I do believe the sun must have gone supernova without anyone realizing it. For surely the temperatures exploded today. Too much for me. Too much for little, fragile me.

Add to that the fact that I did not sleep well last night. So today has been a very tired and very warm day. I feel quite uncomfortable. You know those cooling box things you take on picnics and trips? I wonder if they make those in human-sizes?

There was a field trip at TMU today. But I did not feel up to that. What with the no sleep and exploding sun stuff. Instead I took long naps and sweated a lot. I shall pay dearly tonight where I will most likely again not be able to sleep. I never said I was smart. And if I did, then obviously that wasn’t a smart thing to say.

I have a new semi-chant. “It’ll probably be fine, and if not then that’s fine too”. You worry too much, as the sailor said to the nun. In the pool full of alligators.

Maybe I should look for an appartment in Greenland. I’d quite like that actually. But I think I would be too scared to be so far away from “the real world”. I want to be on my own, but not that on my own. Maybe some day in the future, when I’m used to living on my own and handling myself and I no longer need the safety net of being able to see my parents without taking a helicopter through a snow storm. Yup. I would like to live in the middle of a perpetual winter. If I had been the one to find Narnia I would have never lifted the curse.

Anyway. It’s too hot to be blogging. Let’s get some pictures and then I’m gone like a snowman in summertime.

geeselings

The geeselings why not. I hope you aren’t getting tired of them yet.

geeselings

I love their little, barely-formed wings.

geeselings

Hunting bread.

goatskids

Some kids came by to see the goats. And the goats were quite delighted, not least with the leaves that they were given.

boykurt

That’s Kurt talking to one of the boys, while Magnethe almost seems to be hiding her head in the bushes.

lambs

The lambs. They were a bit scared I think. There was a dog running around . A fairly big dog. Beautiful and black. Some girls said they knew who owned it, someone living close by. It was running around on its own and did not want to be caught by the girls or by Per. Good thing the goats weren’t there. They freeze up just when they see a dog on a leash far away in the distance. I bet they would panic if there was a dog running around lose that close to them.

Anyway, it’s a poor picture but it does show quite the size difference between Mini and the biggest boy there.

lamb

“What’s inside that little, black box you’re pointing at me? Food?”

mads

And Mads, dear Mads. Looks like that wood smells nice. Have I mentioned lately how much I love the goats? If you’re a fairly new reader here you might be wondering why there are so many pictures of those goats. It is because I love them, indeed. The only reason I can’t call them my pets is because I don’t own them. And the word “pet” does not even communicate how much they mean to me. What a big impact they have had on my life. Nothing makes me happier than just being around them.

magnethe

Scratching their sweet spots.

You might as well face it, you’re addicted to goats. And by “you” I mean “me”.

But now I must go before the keyboard melts ‘neath my very typing fingers.

PS. I forgot to mention it, but on Saturday when I was feeding the animals there were more Norwegian visitors. A father and son who came to see the animals. Maybe an appartment in Norway would be something. I hear they have snow-covered mountains. I should look into that…

It was hot here today, too. It was 92 F (33.3333 C)! And humid. We are supposed to have thunderstorms and we’re under a tornado watch.

Have you heard there’s goats on the newest “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie? Looks like a Boar goat sitting next to Captain Jack Sparrow in one scene and another long shot of a goat walking across a bridge of sorts near the beginning of the movie. Goats rule! They are everywhere!

I’m sure the popularity of goats has been influenced by you and me and of course, Stu. We must continue our goal of introducing the world (or a small part of it) to the wonders of goats.

My favorite mantra now is: “What will it matter in a hundred years anyway”. I say that lots when we’re working together. Keeps me from screaming at my husband: “What do you mean you can’t find your paintbrush?” or “what did you do with all those screws for the windows?”

    “Dream
    When you’re feeling blue
    Dream
    That’s the thing to do
Just watch the smoke rings rise in the air
You’ll find your share of memories there

So, dream when the day is through
Dream and they might come true
Things never are as bad as they seem
    So dream, dream, dream

Dream when the day is through
Dream and they might come true
For things never are as bad as they seem
    So dream, dream, dream”…

Debster – Wow, that’s even hotter than here. But then I am a pale, little scandinavian with low heat resistance.
Those tornados are such voyeurs! Haha. That was a joke, it was. Tornado watch. Geddit? Well, Mads laughed.
I have heard that there are goats in the Pirates movie yes. Though only in passing mention. I shall look forward to seeing them. It always makes me sit up and take notice when I see goats on the telly or in movies nowadays. One of the best episodes of Lost, my fave show, had goats in them. The minute I heard faint baahs in the background I sat up and though “what, goats? Goats in Lost? Whee”. Goat spotting is excellence. And I love spreading the glorious word unto all the people that will listen. I can’t believe my livejournal goat community has more than 100 members. If you build it they will come.
Maybe the goats ate the screws? And the paintbrush. And the window.
