Sharing Different Heartbeats

Tired. Yeah. No longer feeling sick. But a certain tiredness and apathy lingers. Sometimes the day seems a waste no matter what I do…

But let’s not get all pessimistic. At least no one has blown up my car. Mostly because I don’t have a car, of course. But someone planted a bomb in the car of a police officer who was visiting his family here in Gellerup Parken. That’s where I live, Gellerup. This police officer is an immigrant and a good role model for young second generation immigrants, of which there are a lot here. But some people don’t think that being a productive member of society is a good idea, so they bombed his car to get the idea across. You have to love humans, they are such sensible creatures.

I believe I actually heard the explosion. But it’s fireworks season, so it didn’t especially phase me. I wish they wouldn’t sell fireworks until.. December 30th. I don’t need two months of people walking around throwing mini-bombs.

I did a Google news search to see if I could find an English version of the story, but all I came up with was ”Police seek public help for kangaroo afoot in Denmark”. It’s a man’s life in the Danish police force.

My dad brought me chocolate yesterday. To thank me for the VCR/TV programming. Sweet. I like Chocolate. No, it’s true. I swear. I would not lie about that.

Scrubs is back. For the 7th and last season, as far as I know. I will enjoy it while it lasts. I love their musicality. Today they featured Heartbeats. It’s a lovely, lovely song. I never knew it was a cover, though. The Knife. Pretty cool, and weird. Although I prefer Jose Gonzalez’s acoustic version.

We had a promise made, we were in love. I still get regular google hits from the last time I wrote about that song. From the Sony Bravia commercial. I love all those bouncing balls. I hate when I love commercials, because at some point sooner or later the thought strikes “no matter how cool or beautiful this is, it’s still a prostitute dressed up to sell me products”. I guess I can’t accept commercials as an art form. My loss? Don’t worry, I am still a happy consumer. Loyal to the bank of America.

Here we go again, to the temple of consumption. Stakka Bo in the house!

PS. I love In Rainbows I love you but enough is enough, enough

    A bomb?!

It’s a good thing you weren’t out there when it happened, and that you didn’t get hurt and no one else.

I don’t understand why people have to use bombs in the first place. All this hate makes me sad.

As for the kangaroo, I hope they find the second one. I’m sure the first one is lonely without his friend. :(

That’s terrible about the bombing. I couldn’t find an English version of the story either, but sort of got the gist of it by surfing around.

I didn’t know kangaroos were immigrating to Denmark! The media must have seen a connection between them and the bombing. Does seem odd about finding info on the kangaroos and not on the attempt on the life of a Danish policeman.

Glad to hear you’re feeling better. Remind me again why you have firecrackers going off at this time? We have firecrackers around the 4th of July for a few weeks before and after the day.

LuisLemmings – True that. As far as I know the bomb went off late at night. It was meant to scare, not to kill. Scared me though.
I hope the second kangaroo finds its way home as well. It must be lonely in a kangaroo-less country like Denmark.

Debster – I think the reason the kangaroo news came up when I was searching for news about the bomb is that I searched for “police denmark” and apparently the kangaroo is the most exciting thing to happen for the Danish police force lately. More exciting than a bomb, obviously.

īLike everyone else we celebrate new years with fireworks. And then it’s tradition for kids to run around with their smaller fireworks and have fun. When I was a kid it was pretty much only on December 31st. We’d run around and throw firecrackers and at night the big fireworks would go off at midnight. But these days kids are doing it for months. They start selling fireworks October/November. Kinda like the christmas decorations that go up way too soon… so for months kids are running around wreaking havoc. Miniature bombs, practicing for when they grow up I’m sure.
