New Year Zombies
It’s 2008, and nothing to report.
Got through the night okay. The fireworks started dying out around 1.30 and from thereon out it was a pretty quiet night.
Would you like to see some fireworks? http://youtube.com/watch?v=N7ZS6fRar04. Nothing too interesting. Just the view from my appartment, mostly blocked by the next appartment block. And starting out with some curtains.
I think I would like fireworks more if people showed some restraint. I like the colourful explosions in the sky just fine. But when my appartment shakes like an earthquake because someone sets off a homemade bomb right outside, that’s not my idea of fun. And it’s like society in general. Everything has to be faster, louder, more aggressive. If Johnny Footballhero throws a stick of dynamite then you have to detonate a block of C4. To impress the girls. If Johnny Footballhero throws a firecracker at a kitten then you have to stuff a bottle rocket up the butt of a senior citizen. And every year we hear about people stashing tons of illegal fireworks in their own litlte appartments, pure coincidence that they don’t blow up an entire block. It’s not about having fun, it’s about how much damage you can do. At least to some people. Oh well. I guess I’m getting old. I don’t feel like running around and playing guns anymore. When I was a kid I got this plastic bazooka thing, I think it was Rambo inspired. It was a sort of pack, you had to unpack and put it together and then you had a big bazooka and you could point it at your friend who desperately tried to defend himself but he only had a wimpy finger to point at you, pretending it was a gun. Hah, that was no match for the BANG you yelled out as you blew him up with your superbazooka. Bazooka is a cool word. Anyway, my ambitions to blow stuff up has somehow waned over the years. I guess I don’t have a big career ahead of me in terrorism.
Hope everyone got through the night without injuries, mentally and physically. Now ahead for the new year.

My goodness, those were some loud fireworks! It was snowy, windy and quiet here. I went to bed early (with the chickens). hee, hee
The wind finally died down around dusk today, so after feeding the goatzies (who didn’t stay outside the barn too long), my husband got the snow blower out to clean out the driveway and make a path up to the house.
It was about 8F (-13C) when we were outside, but without that 13-15 mph wind blowing, it was great. Everything would have drifted over again if we had done anything earlier today. Even some drifts on the secondary roads as we went to work at the shop today.
It’s supposed to be much, much warmer next week. I will believe it when I see it. Will be warm enough to melt some snow, but don’t think I’ll be looking for my shorts and sandels just yet.
Plumey, you need one of those “Super Soaker” squirt guns. They hold lots of water and kids chase each other around in the hot summertime and drench each other with water. You could probably chase a goat around with them, too. (Or Mads could chase you around with one!)

Debster – Those spoilt chickens, getting you to lay on their eggs for them! He, he, hen.
-13. Wow. That’s colder. It’s barely freezing here. Although I’m freezing a bit, so it must be getting there. Tomorrow we’re supposed to get snow. And tomorrow is also my laundry day, let’s hope the whole place isn’t snowed under. Maybe a squirt gun with hot chocolate would help!
