If You Wait I Will Wait

Thanks for all the comments guys. I appreciate it. I’m still pretty shook up about the whole thing. I find myself needing to cry when I think too much about little Rainbow. So I try not to think about it too much. It was going to be such a wonderful and happy thing, and now it’s just sad.

Right now I feel like I need time to pass, to get away from it. Distance. Time heals, right?

awake in my arms
you’ll cry unharmed

Sure it’s sad. It will be sad for awhile and you’ll deal with it like we all have to do when we lose a beloved pet friend.

Yes, time does help. But after reading your blog, I thought of all our cats and dogs, birds, turtles, goldfish, and guiena pig that had passed on.

I remember their names and how sad it was to lose them at the time. And I remember all the good things about having animal friends, too.

And when you show us pictures of Magnethe’s new kids, it will probably be a sad time, too. But I sure wouldn’t want to miss ever having animals in my life, no matter how hard it is to lose them.

It’s okay to be sad for awhile now and even later. But there is some kind of a balance of how animals enrich our lives and how we enrich their lives at the same time.

Feel your feelings. I would be more upset with you if you didn’t feel sad about Rainbow. You’ll be alright, Plumey. You’re doing just fine.

Time is the greatest healer. It will let you know when things seem happier, more light hearted.

But time will also allow you to grieve in only the way you can. We all grieve in different ways. Some cry; some don’t; it really depends on the person. Grief is subjective.

Debster is right; in the end you will be fine.

Until then don’t hold back your feelings.

My best friend was killed in a car accident 15 years ago when we were both in college. It took me six years to fully accept his death.

And even now when I meet someone who looks like him or speaks like me, I get this lump in my throat.

But I don’t mind. That’s means I have and will never forget him. He will always be a part in my life until the day I die.

It’s the same thing with Rainbow. You and all of us won’t ever forget the little tyke. We have your photos and the words you wrote about Rainbow will be in our hearts.

The best thing we could ever give to those who have left this earth is to never forget them.

…and that’s what love is also all about, Plume.

    JOHN MAYER

    “Wheel”

People have the right to fly
And will when it gets compromised
    Their hearts say “Move along”
    Their minds say “Gotcha heart”
    Let’s move it along
    Let’s move it along

    And airports
    See it all the time
    Where someone’s last goodbye
    Blends in with someone’s sigh
    Cause someone’s coming home
    In hand a single rose

And that’s the way this wheel keeps working now
That’s the way this wheel keeps working now
And I won’t be the last
No I won’t be the last,
    To love her

And you can’t build a house of leaves
And live like it’s an evergreen
    It’s just a season thing
It’s just this thing that seasons do

And that’s the way this wheel keeps working now
That’s the way this wheel keeps working now
And you won’t be the first
No you won’t be the first
    To love me

You can find me, if you ever want again
    I’ll be around the bend
    I’ll be around the bend
    I’ll be around,
    I’ll be around
And if you never stop when you wave goodbye
You just might find if you give it time
    You will wave hello again
You just might wave hello again

And that’s the way this wheel keeps working now
That’s the way this wheel keeps working now

You can’t love too much, one part of it (repeat then fade)

I believe that my life’s gonna see
    The love I give
    Return to me

I believe that my life’s gonna see
    The love I give
    Return to me
I believe that my life’s gonna see
    The love I give
    Return to me.

Debster – Yes. Without sadness, happiness would have no meaning. I wouldn’t want to be without the joy that animals bring either.

LuisLemmings – Thank you Luis. Good perspective. And I’m glad everyone got to know Rainbow, even for such a short while.
