Goat To Water
Let’s see, where was I?
Oh yes, goat kids. The kids are almost a month old now, if I’m counting correctly. And still a joy. They have started baahing sometimes when they see people in the distance. Also when I open up the goat house. The big heavy chain makes a lot of noise. And inside I’ll hear Vanilje and Magnethe baah loudly. And then small squeaks from the kids. Eversosweet.
I fed the animals yesterday because the playground was closed for a meeting. And today because it’s Saturday. Was good times. Yesterday I also went downtown to the Komics store. This time it was not closed. So I bought myself the Don Rosa Hall Of Fame number 6. Man, it’s going to be costly. I think at least 11 volumes are planned, maybe even more. But at least they only release 2-3 a year. As far as I know. All my money will be tied up in comics.
Better than them being burglarized I guess. Speaking of the break-in at my parents’ place, it seems the torchlight wasn’t stolen. It was moved. I guess the people who broke in took it from the shelf in the living room and left it in the bedroom. So apparently nothing is missing at all. Apart from perhaps some small change. My dad has a hidden stash of coinage. And he swears there’s a little missing. But he isn’t sure. And as stated, they haven’t touched the TV or DVD or computer. Or the 3000 kr my mother had in a drawer for some vacation stuff. Nothing. It’s odd. My theory was that they’d been interrupted before they could take anything. But now we’ve found out that another home in the area was also broken into during the same time. And nothing was missing there either. So maybe it really was just some local kids looking for a thrill, not looking to steal anything. I guess we’ll never really know, and all you can do is be thankful that it wasn’t worse.
It’s still not a nice feeling though. Even though I don’t live there anymore I still feel a little… invaded? The thought that someone has been walking around in there. In our house. And you can’t help but wonder why they were there. Did they know my parents were gone? Were they watching them? Are they planning to come back? All those kinds of thoughts.
Oh well. No use pondering.
Tomorrow is my dad’s birthday, so I’ll be going home for a nice dinner and such. Will be a treat, I’m sure.
I wonder if they’ll be serving human finger? It sure looks delish.
Please do note the grey blob in the background. It’s a visiting bunny. It has learnt to jump over the walls. Which made Alice go “Oh no, not another one!”. Those crafty bunnies, always ready to escape. A real flight risk.
Exit Plume stage left.

Why didn’t you guy tell me that when goats go on their hind legs that the hooves dig into your stomach??!!
I ended up with a stomach ache and it was bruised, too!
I was feedings a couple of goats; I guess they were just teenagers. They didn’t look old or anything like that.
The two goats were part of a petting zoo along with chickens, baby ducks, a pot bellied pit, and a really, really big rabbit.
Since I don’t know much about live animals other than eating them, I decided to stay outside of the enclosure and just watch the parents and kids inside petting the animals.
The food bag was outside and the goats tried to reach at it from the fence.
And being the fantastic and wonderful guy I am, I decided to feed them. I had my camera in one left hand and my right hand full of feed when one of them leaped up and one of his/her hooves went through the metal fence and got me in the tummy.
I did see it coming, however, and thinking I might be kicked in the sensitive man parts, leaned over and I felt this sharp thump.
I dropped my feed in front of the goats. Man, did it hurt! A little girl saw what happened and asked me if I was ok. I think she was nine or ten year old. Then another goat came up to her. She was inside and reaching for the feed bag on the outsde when the goat thumped her tummy, too. She ended up rubbing her tummy and went to her mom obviously upset.
You know, Debster and Plume, I thought the goats would be like yours, very friendly and loving, almost human-like.
What I got instead was a punch in the stomach so hard that I almost farted! If I didn’t hold it in, I would have farted THEN took a dump in my shorts!
And that’s not even the worst part. My friend, Heidi, took a photo with her camera phone the moment the goat got me in the liver.
Let’s put it this way…I didn’t have a happy face!
My face looked like it was giving birth to a beach ball.
And yes, I could hear your muffled laughs and silent snorts all the way here.

Ooops! Guess I’m so used to sharp goatzie hooves, I forgot to mention that. There is a bit of a feeding frenzy going on when a person has grain at a petting zoo. Not a normal goat experience.
I feel badly that you didn’t have a good “first” experience with goats. They aren’t all that way, at least the ones I know. I hope you have a better time with the next ones you meet.

I’m ever so sorry to hear abot the break-in Plume. I know how you feel. The feeling invaded part. Glad nothing was stolen, tho.
Better get to bed. Got a husband waiting for me all fresh out of the bath and so forth *nudge-nudge* *wink-wink*
P.S. The kids are lovely!

LuisLemmings – Aw Luis, I’m sorry it didn’t go like planned. That’s really a shame. I hope it won’t turn you off goats completely though. They meant no harm, I’m sure. It was an accident. When food is involved goats can get a bit crazy. But it’s not because they’re mean, I swear. I hope you’ll get better goat experiences in the future. I guess at a petting zoo with lots of kids and animals it can be hard to get the nice, calm and peaceful experiences.
Hope your stomach is doing better!
Debster – We’re going to have to round up some friendly goats and make sure Luis gets a good goat experience the next time, eh?
Desiree – Thank you. It’s a very unsettling feeling.. but could have been worse all things considered. I’m glad you’re doing better as well. As always, your guestbook fails me. But your kids are gorgeous, I wanted to say. As lovely as a pair of goat kids, and from me that’s a high compliment!
Have fun ;)

Desiree: I agree with Plume. Your kids are as cute as goat kids! Glad to hear you’re doing better.
