The Grinch Who Stole Sugar
We had the season’s first snow yesterday. As I headed out to the playground’s christmas party it lay everso slightly on the ground. Not a lot. Not a lot by far. But still nice.
So how did the party go? It went okay… while I was there. I didn’t stay for the eating. I was there for a couple of hours almost, though, and did some socializing, but when the food was served I decided to bid my farewells. For various reasons. The biggest one was probably that Bodil wasn’t there. She had migraine. She was going to try to make it, but she didn’t. And while everyone else was really nice and friendly, she is the one I feel most comfortable and safe with. So that was a blow.
Nina wasn’t there either. Out hunting mice I suppose.
And then there was a party game. We each picked a note that told us something we had to do during the evening. Then at tne end everyone should try to guess what each person was doing. My note said that I should say “skål” every 20 minutes. Skål is the word we use when we make a toast. Anyway, the thought of having to make toasts all night and then the guessing later, it made me feel nervous.
And then there was the thought of all the fatty food. And the onion smell in the air.
So it was a bit too much for me in the end. But at least I showed up and did a little talking and all that. I explained about the diabetes before I left so I hope they don’t think I was being too rude. But what are ya gonna do? I am mostly sad that I didn’t get to see Bodil, because it’s been so long. But hopefully I’ll run into her soon.
Also, if you can keep a secret, I think I have a little crush on Sigrid. She works part time at the playground. She is real sweet and cute. I wonder if she’s into guys who never, ever talk to her? That’d be a lucky break for me. She is the girl who sat down with me when Mads died, right after it was done. I sat down outside the goat house and was practically in tears. She sat down next to me and comforted me a bit. A real nice girl.
Yeah, yeah. yeah. It would be nice if I was not destined to live out the rest of my life in complete solitude. But what you gonna do.
The highlight of today was the Brøndby game. We beat SønderjyskE 6-0. Good times. Including this brilliant goal by Peter Madsen. Weet. It’s just like the good old days. Magic Madsen. Now we just need Ruben Bagger and Ole Bjur back. But what you do eh?

Oh my goodness! I’m so glad no one was hurt. I hear about people suffering serious injuries when horses and deer get hit. And I’ve seen photographs, too. Man, I do feel so terribly sorry when animals get hit. It was good your husband moved the deer out of the road so that other cars won’t hit it. Boy, I would’ve freaked out big time! So it was nice to hear that you and your husband or anyone else didn’t get hurt, Debster.
Plume, I think it was a good that you left early before the food arrived. The temptations would have been too great and you must keep an eye on your diabetes.
And I hope you’re exercising, too. Just small walks here and there until your get into better shape.
Sigrid seems like a wonderfully sweet girl. It was so nice that she was there for you when Mads passed away. Maybe you can start with just small talk about the weather or the animals at the playground…nothing too serious or personal.

We need to have a talk with Nina. Out mousing when she could have been with you!
Glad you went to the party and even socialized a bit. I realize how hard that is for you to do. But you did it anyway, didn’t you? Hooray for da Plume!
Maybe you could get Bodil’s number and give her a call. Just to see if she’s over the migraine and when you might see her around at the playground.
Yes, LuisLemmings is right. Just say hi and smile when you see Sigrid. She does sound like a very sweet and sensitive gal. She must like animals, too if she’s working at the playground. So that’s something you have in common to talk about.
As far as have to say “Skal” every 20 minutes, too bad you didn’t have some wheat bread with you that you could put in the toaster and throw that up in the air and say: “Toast”!
Hee, hee. I know, that was bad. They would also have to understand English to know that toasted bread is “toast” and a play on words instead of meaning making a toast with a drink to your good health or something equally as silly!

LuisLemmings – I’m trying to get some exercise yes. Walks. And running inside. I feel too self-conscious to run outside. So then I’ll run back and forth in my apartment heh. I’ll be doing a marathon in no time. I’ll need a bigger apartment though.
Debster – Yes, I’m much nicer than a mouse! Not that I want her to chase me though. Just let me pet her, that’s all I ask.
I think I might have Bodil’s number on my cell actually. She called me once. She was giving me advice about getting a cat. I’ll have to get back on that, once things start to settle down a little.
Once in a while I talk a little to Sigrid about the goats, that’s always nice. The goats seem to like her too. Of course that might have something to do with the fact that she brings them food too! I wonder if Sigrid will like me if I bring her food? If only humans were as simple as animals to deal with!
Hehe. Toast. That would have probably been confusing. But fun too. Maybe in the end when having to guess what everyone was doing, they’d guess I was a baker. Or just toasted. Hehee.
