The Sound And The Furry

I had a nice dream last night. Involving my longlostlove from my old schooldays. She seemed to like me. Was at least interested in me. What a nice feeling. The kind of dream you don’t want to wake up from.

Maybe that’s why I have had a hard time getting out of bed today. I was planning to go to the playground, but ended up sleeping in. And then sleeping more. With that somewhat sad feeling of nothing matters. And so the day went. Hopefully I can make it up to the goats tomorrow. They always give the world meaning.

One good thing that I have found is Firefox’s zoom feature. My eyesight is still blurry more often than not. So being able to zoom in on websites is a huge help. In IE there’s a function to enlarge font sizes, but lots of websites are designed to not allow you to do that. Because who cares about people with poor eyesight, right? But the Firefox zoom works on everything. Big ole fonts = Plume can read. It makes it much nicer to use the computer. Now if only I could zoom in on books. When my eyesight is blurry I actually read better if I take my glasses off. And then put the book or newspaper right up to my face. That works better than with my glasses on. I surely do hope my sight improves. In my dreams I see perfectly well.

I hope you feel better tomorrow so you can take some more pictures of the new goat. How are the sheeps doing anyway?

What are the sheeps and new goat’s names? I must know! I can’t sleep at night knowing there are unnamed animals at the playground.

Speaking of new goats . . . no, we didn’t get another one. But we go by this farm on the way to the shop and they have a pretty all-black pygmy goat.

I’m guessing it’s a “she” but I don’t know for sure. She’s in a pen by herself. There are other animals nearby. A miniature donkey, some small exotic deer, maybe a calf or two.

The other all-black goat we used to see on our way into town, passed away unexpectedly. Her name was Suzy and she was a pygmy goat. She had a beagle dog as a friend at one time, then a mallard duck.

We hadn’t seen Suzy for awhile in her fenced-in area, so we stopped at her house to ask about her and found out she had died. We don’t know the owners or anything about them, we were just interested in knowing about Suzy. (They probably thought we were nuts. We had visited Suzy several times in the past.)

Sometimes I don’t remember our previous clients’ names or what kind of work we did, but if they have a pet (dog, cat, guinea pig, etc.), I’ll remember their pet and its’ name!

Guess that shows you what I think is important!

Be sure to ask at your next doctor visit about the blurry eyesight. It would be reassuring to find out that it might clear up as your diabetes becomes more under control.

One of the side effects of diabetes is blurry eyesight. Usually medication and the controlling of diabetes will make your eyes better. But the blurriness will come and go. I guess it’s something one will have always. But your eyes will get better! Don’t worry. You’ve only been recently diagnosed.

You must visit the goats and the other animals at the playground. I’m sure they miss you awfully much! Plus, they help chase the blues away.

Anyway, if the blurriness gets worse follow Debster’s advice and ask the doctor about it next time.

    Have a nice Thanksgiving, Debster!

  3. Debster Says:

Happy Thanksgiving to you too, LuisLemmings!

  4. Desirée Says:

Is it Thanksgiving already??? Well Happy that to you both, LuisLemming and Debster.

Plume, I had hopes the hospital had given you more info re. the eyesight trouble – you know, the long term prognosis and stuff.

Anyways, just stopped in with a cheaky question, really – I was ondering if your lovely family sent the other santa letter as well? Only, cos Raven 6 ARthur got theirs ages ago, but I’ve heard nothing to say Thomas & Emily have received theirs. Now, it could just be because they’re not very polite little ones, but maybe they never got it? So, I thought Iød check that it had actually gone before I pursue the matter further – you know, scold them and stuff for their bad manners :)

Also, I wanted to say how pleased I am that you went to the party – even if only for a while. And it’s nice to see you with a crush again. It brightens up ones life to have a little twinkle inside for someone – even if it’s just from afar.

Now for dinner making. We’re having pitas. Very healthy stuff. You’re welcome to join us.

Debster – Feeling quite better, thank you. The sheeps are doing just fine. No lambs though. I’d been hoping that since I was gone for so long I’d come back and find lambs. But Sigrid did mention previously that Kurt wasn’t sure if they were pregnant. So maybe not. I’d like some little lambies.
I’d like a pygmy around too.
Poor Suzy. I bet the dogs and ducks miss her. Nothing is more important than animals.
I have talked to the doc about the eyesight, and it should get better as far as I understood. Right now it’s actually pretty fine. We’ll see for how long. It’s connected to the blood sugar, so hopefully whe nthat’s been stable for a while it’ll get better.

Luislemmings – Yup, it should get better. I sure hope so. With the firefox zoom I can cope in the meantime at least.
I saw the goats today, and as always it was a treat. Nothing picks up the mood like them.

Desiree – Yes, some more info would be nice. Maybe I’ll get some more when the results of the eye exam come back. Until then I don’t think there’s much to do but wait and hope the blurriness improves.
As far as I know my dad sent out both letters. He certainly hasn’t told me that he didn’t. But I’ll ask him about it tomorrow and see what he says. The English don’t believe Santa lives in Greenland do they? Maybe they think it’s an impostor trying to trick English kids! Or maybe the British mail service is just slower than the Danish.
Pitas, that’s a good idea. I should try that some time. We used to get it when I lived at home. I had chicken today. With lots of vegetables. Good stuff.

  6. Debster Says:

Well, I used to believe Santa came from the North Pole. But you almost have me believing he comes from Greenland. Almost believing….

  7. Plume Says:

It’s a well known fact that he comes from Greenland. Just ask any Danish kid! Danish kids wouldn’t lie!

  8. Desirée Says:

Danish kids don’t lie – but they do sometimes get things wrong.

Like on Monday when Raven came home and told me they’d been to the woods with nursery and she’d seen a lion. It was a little bit dangerous but she liked it and it was sweet. It was white, she told me.

Now, as you say, kids don’t lie, and I was puzzled as to what it was she had *actually* encountered on her field trip – because as far as I know there are no slightly dangerous yet sweet and white lions residing in the national park I call my home land. So, yesterday at the Christmas Fair at nursery, I asked the staff if they had seen a lion. The answer was no. But then the kitchen lady, who lives near the woods, told us how she and her GOLDEN RETRIEVER had come for a visit to the bus when the children were leaving.

See, even my 2 year old daughter tells it how it is – nearly, anyways.

  9. Plume Says:

Desiree – Aw hehe! That’s a sweet story. I’m it was a friendly lion they ran into. Who needs to go to the zoo anyway!
