Good goat times today. Another beautiful, sunny day. Upards of 22/70 degrees. Looks like summer has taken hold, for now at least. It’s almost too much. Good thing all I have to do is sit around and be lazy with goats. Pretty sweet deal. And today was a day for doing just that. Lots of sitting around and doing nothing. In between some treat handouts and a little headbutting. The goats, I mean.
I bought myself some iced creams today. Gonna have a oouple for dessert. Cos I’m a grownup and I can do what I wants. In my defense, I walked all the way both to and from the goats. And then twice to the shopping centre to stock up on pepsi max and faxe kondi light. Something like 2½ hours of walking in the sun. That’s gotta count as good exercise. Phew.

This is a really good place to sit. Mia seems to like it now that it has that barrier up. Snuggled up in the corner between the wall and the barrier. And the groove on the outside of the barrier fits me well. Because of my bad back, I have to be careful how I sit. It’s good to have something where I can get the right posture, and this place works well. And then there’s the shade, and there was a cool breeze. Pretty pretty good.

Good goat times today. Another beautiful day. The heat got kicked up a notch. Up to 25C/77F. That’s just a notch or two below MAXIMUM HEAT for Denmark. There was some light cloud coverage a lot of the time, though, which probably made it a little easier to handle. But another day to do a lot of sitting around and doing as little as possible with the goats.
When I arrived in the morning there was a group of kids there, and now that the greens have started growing, the kids can easilier get some stuff to feed the goats. I walked around the corner and saw Mia hanging with her head out the fence, being fed leaves by a kid. She’s like a giraffee when she needs to reach something. Long neck! The goats still prefer peasta and peanuts, but the greens are good!
I hope the summer will keep going. Most days are above 20/68 in the forecast ahead, so that looks promising.

The kids were not the only ones giving greens to the goats today. For the first time this year I stopped on my way to the playground and picked a bunch of greens for them. I love bringing them into the pen and dumping them and watching the goats go to town on them. It’s like if someone opened the window to my apartment and threw in a pizza. WHO WANTS TO EAT HOORAY!

Not just goat times today, also kitty times. Sweet, little Nala. Got some good cuddles in with her. She definitely seems more cuddly than Heino. Or maybe it’s just because there were no rats around. Always nice to get to do some meowing.

Here’s a little more Nala, for the cat afficionados. She was being very cute and rolling around on her back and swatting at that branch. I gave her some belly rubs and I’m not completely sure if she liked it or not. She kinda out her mouth on my hand and I could feel her fangs. She wasn’t biting down or anything. I guess if she really didn’t like it she could have bit me and those fangs seemed sharp. I’m glad I’m not a rat.
I don’t really know enough about cats to know if that teeth thing is a sign of good or bad. But she wasn’t trying to get away and she seemed to enjoy it was rubbing her head on my hands as well.
Oh I forgot to mention how I realised she was in the goat pen. I was sitting in the shelter with Mia, Milo and Sky. And I heard a bump on the roof above. When i went out to investigate I found Nala.

Jesus. Watching the first Danish game of the European Championship in soccer. Suddenly one of the Danish players just collapses on the the field. game is stopped and I think he’s getting heart massage. This is really bad. Hope he will be ok.

The news is that Christian Eriksen has been ‘stabilized’ in the hospital. We can only hope there is no serious damage. Thankfully there are medical professionals and machinery at these games. This was a life and death thing. Still could be.
This is when social media is a curse and a blessing. Literally thousands of people reacting second by second, it’s hard to know what’s official news and what’s conjecture and speculation and wishful thinking.
A terrifying moment. I can’t recall ever experiencing anything like it. I’ve seen players collapse before in situations that looked serious, but they’ve always been up again fairly quickly, never anything that has caused a game to be suspended.
Denmark is one of the hosts of the European Championship for the first time and corona restrictions have been eased and today was goign to be a big happy celebration. Now it’s just become a giant nightmare. We can only hope for the best for Christian. I am probably not going to stay up too much longer, I didn’t sleep much last night and I don’t want to sit here and wait for news.. Feel pretty terrible and helpless. It’s a cliché but suddenly you really feel how little the sport and results matter in situations like. Just want the guy to be ok.

Okay some further further news anyway. They are starting the game up again in 20ish minutes. This is great news, not because the game matters so much, but because there’s no way they’d do that if they weren’t confident that Christian Eriksen would be okay.
I am not sure I agree with the decision, in fact I don’t think I do. But as long as Christian is ok then that’s what matters. He was carried off the pitch on a stretcher under white sheets with his wife crying on the sideline. I can’t imagine what must be going through the players heads, how are they going to focus on playing the rest of the game. but again. As long as he’s ok that’s what matters. What a rollercoaster ride.
I guess I will watch the game then. I feel like passing out. It’s a strange thing. People are dying every second of every day. But watching something like this happening live on tv out of the blue, it’s like being hit in the head with a giant hammer.
Let’s hope for good news ahead, about Christian. I really don’t give a shit if we win or lose the game right now.

Looks like Christian Eriksen is awake and stable and doing well all things considered. I guess we should be thankful it appened where it did. If he’d been at home by himself he might not have survived. Thankfully one of his team mates started cpr immediately and the medics came out and were with him when his heart stopped and got it going again. Scary stuff. Heartwarming to hear all the love and support for him from everyone.
I don’t think the game should have continued and the stories of the possible pressure from uefa to get it going are not good. We ended up losing the game 0-1, which was a big surprise because we were big favourites against Finland. But I really don’t care about that. It’s only football after all. Nothing like an incident like this to put things into perspective. You know it’s dramatic when even my American friends get news alerts about a soccer game.

I know you can’t really tell, but this is that rarest of photos, of all SEVEN goats. From the right we have Sassy, then Lily and Nuller. In the shelter you can just about make out Milo and Mia, behind her Sky is wedged in. And then of course we got that fat two-legged goat in the hat sitting in the shade out of the shelter. Summer goating, got me so good.

Good goat times today. A goorgeous, sunny day. Over 20C/68F. Which is high summer for Denmark. So good. I’m glad I had a drinking horn on my viking helmet, I’m not sure i would have made it without drinks. I didn’t get any breakfast today and maybe that was why I started feeling kinda dizzy in the heat on my way home. I made it, don’t worry!
Sweet kids visiting at the fence too, asking questions and petting the goats. One boy asked if he could give a pasta to the goats. Then he got a little scared and sort of left it on the fence and pointed at it for Mia. His mom helped him get it done properly, and Mia enjoyed the treat. I can understand how Mia can seem intimidating when you’re a little kid. “The giant one” as she’s referred to occasionally. As Sky is ‘the baby’. And Milo is ‘the bandit’.
Other than that, too hot to do much but sit around. Mia gets so tired in the sun. Panting. I still think of her as my baby, but you know she’s getting to be an old goat. She’ll be turning 9 in a couple of months. She definitely takes more breaks these days. Especially when it’s sunny. We’ve been through a lot, I think we deserve a summer of just sitting around in the sun. Let the kids do all the running around.
Well, as soon as I bring out treats or go to my backpack, Mia still comes running like a kid. Not too old to get excited for food. I hear ya, Mia. I get excited when the pizza guy rings my doorbell too.

Went on a couple of bucket runs to make sure the goats had fresh water in the heat. I’m glad the outdoor faucet is working again.

Had a doctor’s appointment this morning as well. To go over the results from my last tests. Generally things are decent. My blood sugar is a little up. Not alarmingly, but something to work on. It’s not surprising, I’ve put on weight too, the depression hasn’t been good on my eating habits. But I’ll work on it.
There was a cute kid at the doctor’s office. Like a little goat, running around being super curious about everything. Her mother was chasing her around going “no you can’t go in there. No you can’t touch that. No you can’t go in there. Hey look at this picture. No you can’t press that”. Haha. Seemed like a handful, but the mother, and everyone else, took it with a smile.

Well, my new double platform was not allowed to remain. I suppose it’s ok, they took the pavement tiles and laid out a little path. You can see it in the picture. The pallet was the foundation for the new second platform. Now instead there’s a little walkway next to Nuller’s rock. That place is one of the worst when it’s muddy, so this will be really good in fall and winter. The mud there was so bad. The timing is just a little wonky, since were going into the summer season and the mud won’t be a big problem for a while. But alright. I’ll miss the double platform. But the pallet is still there so there’s still something to stand and sit on. It’s not too bad.
Funnily enough Mia spent a lot of time sitting on the first platform today. I don’t think she’s sat there ever since we came back from the horse field. But maybe she likes it better with a pallet next to it. Or maybe it’s just because it’s cleaner now with the mud gone. She can sit on the platform and I can sit on the pallet. Pretty good.

I tell you hwat, I still love me some Radiohead. I don’t know if kids today still think they’re cool. But you put on a Radiohead concert from literally any era and I’ll happily listen to it all.
Humanity has a lot of flaws, but you gotta low the art it makes. Music, books, movies, paintings. The ability to extend ourselves beyond our mortal limits, is pretty neat.

Good goat times today. A little bit of slight rain on my walk there, but thankfully it passed and we got mostly sunshine afater that. I arrived to a big drama at the playground. I found kitty Heino sitting outside the goat pen. I thought he was relaxing and I could get some cuddles in. But he was not relaxing. He was on the prowl. He was hunting a mouse. He was suuper focused. I saw the little mouse a couple of times, I think it was trying to hide under things where Heno couldn’t get to. But Heino was persistant. He squeezed himself under stuff and scaled an enclosure and would not give up. He got to the mouse a couple of time too. I heard the little squeaks. I’m not sure if he was toying with it or if he just didn’t get properly hold of it. But the hunt continued. I am not sure if he ended up getting it or not. I must admit I felt a little bad for the mouse. Those little squeaks… but I guess it’s nature’s way and all that. That’s what the barn cats are there for.
A little later on I had Sky out of the pen to do some filming and Heino came back. But Sky chased him off. there’s always a bigger fish! Even though Sky is the baby of the goats, she’s still bigger than Heino and with horns. A wise retreat by the mouse hunter.
After all that drama I spent the rest of the time mostly just sitting in the sun with the goaties. That’s more my jam.

New change at the playground. That barrier in front of the shelter. I wish it wasn’t so tall, it’s even taller than the one in front of the goat house! But I guess it’s ok. It will help keep the bedding in there and make it all less messy. And the goats have no problems getting in. Here’s Nuller scaling it to get in with his mama Lily. In fact, the goats spent more time in there than I can remember them ever doing on a sunny day. Maybe they like that barrier, it’s always good to have walls and corner and stuff for security. They all had turns sitting in there in the shade today.
