Too Little Light Of Mine

January 28th, 2012

I promised I wouldn’t complain on Facebook for a whole day, so now I have to use my blog instead. I need to complain about my new light bulb. It seems Denmark has switched to energy saving light bulbs. And that’s all good and nice and I want to save the planet as much as the next guy. But the light is not good. It’s really not. I had read forum posts about how they don’t reproduce colours properly. Or something. Now that I have tried them I have to say they just don’t give enough light. For me. How am I going to save energy if I need to turn on multiple lamps instead of one? I guess for people with normal eyesight the energy saving bulbs are okay, but I really need the light to be able to see better.

You can’t even buy the old ones anymore, as far as I know. My dad is going to see if he can find something stronger than the one I have now in my living room. Today I got on my exercise bike for the first time since I changed the light bulb. And I couldn’t read the display. At all. There just wasn’t enough light. In the summertime I like to turn off the lights while I bike. The sunlight is usually enough for me to be able to read the display. During the winter I have to turn on the lights. And now with the energy saving bulb I can’t at all. I’m going to have to have a flashlight with me if I want to read the display.

It’s going to hurt me when I attempt to read letters and such too. Right now I’m trying to write a letter for my friend’s baby scrapbook and it’s just harder. And harder. The same thing with all the websites I use. They do updates and every time it makes things harder and harder for me. It’s just frustrating. I have to deal with this eyesight condition and I’m doing that. But when you feel like everything around you is making things harder and there’s nothing you can do about it. It’s frustrating. Especially because they insist that they’re making things better. And they don’t want to listen to the minority that don’t like it. I know I can’t expect the world to be designed for my needs. I just wish they wouldn’t make things worse in the search for change for change’s sake.

Other than that there is snow outside and everything is fine and I will not let the little things get me down.. Can’t wait for Windows 8!

Forecast No Shadow

January 26th, 2012

I do not like the look of that weather forecast.

Looks like the temperatures will be below zero for the foreseeable future. We have had a really mild winter so far. I have enjoyed that. I will not enjoy freezing temperatures.

Thank goodness for the scarf I got for christmas from Traci. It really helped keep me warm when I went up to see the goats. And it even survived without getting chewn to bits. Mio did have a sniff and a little nibble, but that was all. Everyone survived.

Speaking of the goats, I think we’ll have a new visitor soon. Alice mentioned a new buck stopping by. We’ll have 4½ big goats, at least temporarily. That’ll be something. And just imagine if all three ladies had triplets. Can you imagine 9 little goat kids running around? That would be a little bit of heaven. Although it would also be a lot of kids to have to say goodbye to again. But that’s a ways off yet anyway. For now I will just enjoy the company of the good goats I have. I am still very happy that we got to keep Bob. I’m having a lot of fun with him. I can still manage to grab him and have him sit in my lap. He’s not always too pleased with it, but if I give him really good neck scratches then he’ll sit back and enjoy it. Won’t be long before he’s too big for it though. I already have a sore toe from when Magnethe decided to stand on it. I don’t think goats know how heavy they really are.

Tippy toes.

Back to the clementines.
