A Goat’s Tale 3: More Tails

As always I have to apologise for the non-updatingness of the bloggings. But such are the days, that they fall away when not numbered by our systems. Not much has happened. More ongoing computer troubles and some emotional downtime. But otherwise the planets are aligned for another constellation, and they spin gravity of our yarn. It is a constant rotation, is it not?
The sun was peaking out yesterday. Temperatures upwards of 15 degrees I think. A perfect day for a goat trip. And perfectly I am just the perfect guy to visit some perfect goats. So I did. And had a jolly good time. Although Magnethe was a little naughty. I had a little plastic bag with old bread and raisins and she snatched it right out of my pocket. And then she ran off with it. And when I grabbed a hold of her to get it back she ran off with me and dragged me around. She’s a strong goat! But I think all the goats enjoyed having raisins sprinkled all over their pen.

The buck is still there, and seems to have taken his place at the top of the hierarchy. Not letting anyone push him around anymore. And you can tell that him and Bob don’t get along too well. Even though Bob isn’t a competition in the wooing of the ladies, the buck still won’t tolerate him being near. And Bob has learned this, he clearly keeps his distance from the buck. Runs away when the buck comes near. He’s getting bigger but he’s not strong enough to take on a more or less full grown buck. You have to pick your battles.

You can tell spring is here because the goats sat down and enjoyed the sunshine. They never sit down when it’s cold. Not during the times I’m there anyway. I imagine later on in the day when they get tired they’ll sit down. But if it’s cold or raining and they aren’t tired then they never sit. When the sun comes out they’ll sit down and chill out and that’s always a good time.

Enjoying the sunshine with goats. That’s where I like to be.

Oh, no. Computer problems suck! I get so frustrated when something goes wrong with ours. Hope your problems are easily solved ones.

My parents have a laptop computer and they are having a heck of a time with it. It’s just enough different from our non-laptop that I have trouble navigating it. I told Dad sometimes you just have to experiment and investigate just what those icons are.

What’s with the emotional problems? You can always email me if you don’t want to go into it here. I have been feeling much better with the warmer weather and when it’s sunny. The long, dark winter is what gets to me. I want to hibernate like a groundhog!

Our goats like to bask in the sunshine in the mornings. One goat stands in the sun, then another goat comes and stands right in front of him. Silly goatzies – they could stand in a row and all get some sun instead of blocking the sun from each other. Then Snickers shows up and casts a big donkey shadow over everyone. Hee, hee (Our “basking goats” are not to be confused with the basking shark.)

Debster – Well, my computer troubles have kinda been ongoing for a year almost. But it’s a long story, doesn’t matter. No worries. I’m still on the phone every now and then with my dad, talking him through email or things like that. I don’t think getting him to experiment with the computer would go well haha. But I’m happy to help anyway.
It’s getting warmer here too. The 20C line is back on the 5day weather forecast. That’s always a good sign. Even if the temperatures don’t reach the line yet. Just the fact that it’s there..
I had a sun blocking goat too. I was sitting down with Mio next to me and I looked up at the bright sun and then Magnethe stepped out in front and looked at me like “wouldn’t you rather be looking at meee?”. She’s a big goat, there wasn’t much sunlight getting around her.

I’m sure someone has taken our devil donkey and replaced her with a “nice donkey”. Snickers has been very nice lately! I was even able to comb her tonight and she actually enjoyed it. Lots of winter donkey hair was flying thru the air.

I combed all the goatzies, too. Billy is one big fuzz ball and John Boy’s neck is fuzzy. Frankie is just generally shedding all over. I even got to comb the cats. I’m covered in all kinds of animal hair and will definitely need to wash everything I was wearing this evening.

I think I have enough hair in the yard for a whole other animal made from cat, donkey, and goat hair. Our birds will have the softest, coziest nests in the area.

I saw two hummingbirds last night at the feeder. No fighting or squabbling going on – just thirsty little birds drinking up nectar. Wait till the female birds show up, then the dueling and showing off begins.

Debster< (B> – Sounds like EVERYONE got a good combing! I’m sure everyone enjoyed it a lot. My goatzies still have some wool left. At least Magnethe and Bob do, it’s harder to see on the white ones! But it’s getting quite warm here, so I should think the woolly tufts will be gone soon.

I have been crocheting lately. Too bad I don’t know how to spin yarn with shedding goat and donkey hair!

It’s raining hard here and there is a wren singing in the front yard. I’ve seen the hummers three times now at the feeders. Just wait until the females and juvies show up. Then it will be ‘hovering room only” at the nectar feeders!
