Not much new. Inching towards the hospital appointment on Monday. Trying to stay afloat.
Yesterday I got a sudden craving for books. For reading again. The escapism of it all. So I went and downloaded an audio book. Everyman by Phillip Roth. It was the first one on the list that seemed interesting. Award winning SF. I like SF. And I like awards. So why not. I wonder how it will go. I have started listening to it, and it’s good so far. But I find it hard to concentrate. My thoughts start to wander and I forget to pay attention. Maybe I just have to get used to it. It didn’t help that I was tired and half dozing off. But I will keep at it and hopefully get used to it. And escape reality for a while or two.
I haven’t tried the big-type books for people with poor eyesight, but I have a feeling that even if I’m able to read them then I would have a hard time getting used to them too. I can’t stand to read anything for very long, my head starts hurting and my eyes get tired very quickly. Lines of text are jumpy and it’s like my right eye is a little out of sync. Like I’m going cross-eyed. On one eye. I keep seeing double almost, and then when I realize it I have to focus. So that’s all fun and games. I should donate my eyes to medical science. They’d have a field day with them.

Maybe listen to your audio book when you’re on the exercise bike? Or listen for awhile, then ride the bike, then listen for awhile.
Sounds like you just need to break it up in smaller listening times (at least till you get used to it).
Think how hard it must be for little children during story hour! We had a teacher in 4th grade who read “Little House on the Prairie” books to us after lunch and recess.
I just finished a SF book by China Mieville called: Perdido Street Station. I get in the mood for sci fi occasionally. I think I had trouble sleeping one night after reading in the evening. Not really nightmares, but I must have been dreaming a lot. It was pretty good.
Guess what? We finally had a female hummingbird come to our new feeder. She is soooo tiny and sweet. I was able to get within 6 or 7 feet of her while she was drinking nectar. She was beautiful.
I wonder if “Zip” and “Squeak” the hummingbird couple are over to Bentonsport where we worked all last summer? One was very fast flying and the other one made squeaking noises all the time.

Debster – Don’t know if I could concentrate while exercising either. But might be worth a try yet.
How do you tell if a hummingbird is male or female? I have never seen one. Do we have them in Denmark? I’d think so. Maybe. Wait here, I’ll go look!

hanne – Ah I’ve never heard of those. I’ll see if that might be something for me.
