Phoenix Plume

I think we are back in working order?

Yes, updating works. Let’s hope everything is working again. Please let me know if you find any errors in the blog. I’d appreciate it if someone could leave a comment on this entry, just to test that out.

Phew. Another long down time. During the 4-5 years I have had plume.dk I have been mostly happy with my webhost. But this isn’t good. And with my failing eyesight I am worried that new problems will come along and I will be unable to fix them. I am toying with the idea of just giving up on my website and instead pointing plume.dk to my livejournal and then just write there instead. At this point all the little subpage on plume.dk don’t really matter anyway. If I ever do take new photos then I could put them on flickr and vidoes go on youtube and then blog entires on liveournal. I wouldn’t really need my hosting. I could save the money and the worries. I don’t know. I might do it if there are more troubles here in the future. In any case, if I do decide to move I’ll try to put up a message here. You might want to bookmark djaliplume.livejournal.com as that’s where I’d likely go if plume.dk disappeared.

But we’ll see. Hopefully things will be working okay from now on…

Meanwhile, there are new things happening in regards to my eyesight, but I don’t feel like writing about that right now. Perhaps later today or tomorrow. Hope you are all doing well out there in internet-land.

Glad to have you back again, fingers crossed for an uneventful webservice in the future :)

Hay, hay! I was just getting ready to e-mail you. Curse that darned webservice anyway.

We are celebrating my sister’s birthday (and mine) tonight. Her birthday is the 27th & mine is the 28th. We are going out to eat tacos and enchiladas and birthday cake.

My friends from Australia have finally arrived. They are coming with us to celebrate and then we are taking them to see Mark Twain’s cave on Friday and to Hannibal, MO to see all the Tom Sawyer and Becky Thatcher places.

Samuel Clemons (aka Mark Twain) is a pretty unique American writer. Some of the things are fairly “touristy” but the cave is neat. It’s the kind of thing you go to when you are a kid, then when you grow up, you take your kids (or husband, or goats) to see it.

There is an old-fashioned ice cream parlor and some neat gift places to visit as well.

My friends were amazed at how green everything was here in the Midwest. They are going through a very long drought in Australia. They don’t usually see all the fields of corn and soybeans. And how everyone has green trees and so much lawn to mow.

Glad to hear from you and hope your webservice straightens itself up quickly!

I checked and checked and your site was out for a while. I was worried, but then you came back and I wasn’t worried anymore.

I felt better so I ate some chocolate covered raisins and went to sleep.

Yay! Glad to see you’re back. :) I have finally set up my computer, but have not gotten around to updating my blog. I should really make it a habit, I guess. Is your webhost wordpress? Just wondering, since I have signed up with them ….

    HUGS

Katrine – I am crossing everything I have, trust me!

Debster – Happy birthday ! And to your sister as well. I hope everything has gone smoothly. I hope the cake was good as well. I miss cake. Have a piece for me.
So you have Australian goats visiting? At least that’s how I understand it. How nice! Mark Twain had a cave? I’m afraid I don’t know much about Mark Twain. Did he have a secret identity like Batman and the Batcave? It’s not too long ago that I had this idea to start reading some classic literature that I understood you ought to have read, like Hemingway and Shakespeare and whatnots. I never really got started on it. Now it may be too late. At least I did get through the Moomin books…

LuisLemmings – That is a heartwarming story my friend. I have raisins too. Apparently there is something in them that are good for you. I just don’t like raisins. Maybe I should try chocolate covered ones. Although that would rather defeat the whole “good for you” thing.

Valja – I used to have a habit of updating every single day. For years on end. I can’t quite keep up with that anymore. But once in a while is good too!
Wordpress is not a webhost no. WordPress is just the CMS, the blog system. I guess they offer to host your blog as well, that must be what you have signed up for. But they’re not a real webhost. And you shouldn’t have any problems with them, I imagine. I have had problems with the wordpress database, but you shouldn’t have to deal with databases at all. It’ll all be handled for you, so no worries there.
