Worrise
I have had some worrisome days. Magnethe is not well. So that has been mostly on my mind this week.
I had a dentist’s appointment on Tuesday, and afterwards I went to the goats. Magnethe was really sluggish and unresponsive. And it looked like she was flexing her stomach, trying to push something out. Maybe a pregnancy problem or a digestive problem? She’s not supposed to have kids for another month or two. Sigrid said that she thought there wouldn’t be anything living coming out. But I’ve since felt that there might be something alive in there. And Alice said she thought so too. So I’m hoping the kids are okay and that it’s a tummy problem. The last three days I’ve just been keeping her company. Yesterday she barely moved around at all. We wanted to take her inside to get her away from the attention and kids at the playground, but she didn’t want to go inside. And we didn’t want to make her. She found a spot she seemed to like just outside the goat house and she just stood there. Eventually sat down. In the sunshine. She seemed a little better today. I walked around with her. She’d walk a little bit. Stand still. Sit down. Get up and walk a little more. Stand. Sit down. When she sat down I’d sit next to her and scratch her and stroke her back. She was still slow and sluggish, but at least a little more lively. But then we took her temperature and it was too high. The vet had said to watch out for that. So we called the vet to come look at her. He hadn’t been there by the time I left. But I hope he can help her. I’m just mostly scared because of what happened to Vanilje. When she died with the stillborn kid. It’s scary if there’s something wrong with Magnethe’s pregnancy. Maybe she’s too old be having kids now. Alice said as much too. They gave her some medicine to help with digestion, and it seemed that helped a little. So I’m really hoping that’s what it is, and that it’ll get better now. She hasn’t been eating much and that’s obviously a problem for a pregnant goat.
It’s just very worrying, but I am feeling a little more optimistic now. Hopefully it will all be okay.
Here’s a picture of the two of us today: plume.dk/pics/displayimage.php?pid=5498. Relaxing in the sunshine.
Also, I found out that the buck has been named Preben. I thought they weren’t going to name him, since he’s no staying. But I guess they changed their minds. Preben was one of the names suggested for Bob when he was named. Along with my suggestion, Tyson. I think Preben suits the buck better. That’s quite good.
Feel better, Magnethe.

Ahhhh . . . Magnethe and her pet boy! Such a sweet picture of the two of you.
I hope Magnethe is feeling better now. Has anyone said what’s the matter with her?
It’s been sooooo hot here lately. Heat wave and heat wave. At least we are working inside this past week with air conditioning! Will have another couple of days inside at this job.
Seems like it will be hot and humid through July 9th with about 30% chance of rain. We need rain badly. We’ve been having to water our outside flowers and tomatoes every evening along with watering the animals in the morning and evening.
The animals all seem to be doing alright in the heat. It’s not like we can wet the goats down to cool them off. They’d be off running as fast as possible.
When the hummingbirds land at the feeder, their little beaks are open wide and they are panting before they start drinking the nectar. Poor little things.
Well, it’s about time for me to go outside and water all the above mentioned plants and animals. Hope Magnethe is feeling better soon.
