Easter Funnies

It’s been a pretty quiet Easter. Oh yeah. Happy Easter to everyone to whom it may apply. And happy Wester to the rester ya.

The weather is getting warmer and warmer. With a fair bit of sunshine. I put my winter boots away and stepped into my shoes instead. Without woolly socks. And also a springtime jacket instead of the winter coat. Oh it is lovely and I do enjoy it. Let’s hope the temperatures keep rising. Gimme some summer. I’m glad winter is over.

The playground is closed for Easter. When I got there Thursday morning the goats were enjoying fresh hay. So that meant someone had already been there to feed them. Which also probably meant that they’d have to stay inside for the rest of the day. I felt bad about that. It was a lovely day outside. So I decided to take them out. I normally don’t do that when the place is closed and I’m on my own. But I had a good time with them in the sun. Went and got new branches for them to munch on. Mia was hollering after me every time I left the pen. I forgot how loud she can be. They were all well pleased when I returned with fresh branches, though.

And that’s about all. Let’s get to a goatload of pictures.

Kamel chewing.

May have to practice my photography a little, missed most of Mia.

That’s better.

Mia walking the plank.

Mia and Palle.

Just Palle.

I love that face.

Is he behind me?

Old lady Kamel.

With the folded ears.

Mia and clingy human.

What are you doing out there, Palle?

Queen of the world.

Sweet face.

Mmmwah.

Baah!

What?

Buddies.

Waiting for me to get back in the pen.

Floppy ears like Easter bunnies.

And a goatlog, with all this and more.

And that’s all for this week, folks. See you in the next Juan.

Happy Belated Easter to you, too! Our family is going out to eat brunch this coming Sunday as we all couldn’t get together last Sunday. I think it is supposed to rain.

I even saw the Easter bunny. Or his stand-in anyway. We haven’t seen many of our wild cottontail rabbits lately, but I did see one early last week. So I’m assuming it was the “Easter Bunny”.

I will say this quietly: no snow this week! I think we are to get big rains though. It was really dry last summer and fall and even though we had lots of snow, the ground was frozen. When the snow melted, it all ran off and didn’t soak into the ground since it was frozen.

We were in a burn ban for awhile, but it will probably be lifted when it starts raining this Sunday. The grass is green, my tulips and daffodils are starting to come up, too.

No hummingbirds yet, but the migration map shows them all over near us. Just haven’t had our first bird show up yet. I’m ready for their return and have a feeder up for them.

We are building up quite a list of exterior painting work for this summer already. I think we will be quite busy this season – which we are happy about.

Glad you were able to spend some time with the goatzies. I’m sure they appreciated time out of the barn with you. Our boys are busy eating the new green grass and basking in the sunshine on these warmer, sunny days. They always seem to be smiling now!

Hummingbird alert! As of Friday the 25th, we now have hummingbirds. Hooray! One has been visiting the feeder this weekend, or at least I think it’s the same one bird.

It was nice on Sat, so we spent some time with the animals. Everyone is shedding their winter coats, so lots of combing is in order. The boys look so handsome and Billy smiles when he gets combed and scratched.

Even Snickers stood still for some serious combing. She has such thick hair and she likes to take a dust bath, so she’s a dusty donkey on top of all the winter hair.

We’ve had some rain so all the grass is greening up and wild plums are blooming in the timber. The redbud trees are flowering and our goldfinches are turning yellow and black again.

    Spring is here!

Happy even more belated Easter! I hope The brunch went well. I’m sure it was full of deliciousness.
No Easter bunnies here. Well, unless you count all the bunnies at the playground. I guess on Easter they can be Easter bunnies too.
Things are starting to get green here too. Even a little grass growing in the goat pen. The ground has been covered with branches and hay, but I’ve been trying to keep it tidy to give the grass a chance. I think it’ll only grow down in the pen though, where the ground hasn’t been covered in hay. We shall see.
Good thing you’ll have plenty of work! Do you paint Easter eggs too? Hehee.
Sounds like spring indeed! I hope the hummingbirds are humming a spring song!
