Kamel’s Back

It’s been a pretty good week. Kamel’s recovery has continued nicely. I have spent a lot of time with her. Making sure she gets something to eat and just walking around with her. Letting her get some peace from the others and the chance to go around and pick fallen leavse and apples. She has definitely gotten her spirit and appetite back now. I’m so relieved. I was really worried this would be another goat tragedy to add to the list. But it looks like this time things will be okay. Of course I’ll still worry that she’ll have a relapse or something. But for now it looks like she’s almost back to her lovely self. Sweet, old kamel. It’s actually been nice spending so much time with her. Normally she keeps a little in the background and lets the younger, more demanding, goats have the spotlight. Once I felt reasonably sure she’d be okay I could just appreciate her company. Talking to visitors about her too. Everyone gets very concerned when they hear she was sick. Just good she’s doing better.

In other good news, looks like we found a new home for Herman. It will be bittersweet having to say goodbye to him. He’s a funny dude. A great addition to the flock, but he just can’t stay forever. This is how it goes. And it’s good to know he’ll be going to a good home. It is in fact the same place that took Medium and Large last year. Bob and Lucy as they are called now. So we’ll have a little colony of ex playground goats there. We just have to square it with Kurt. He actually owns Herman. But since he hasn’t wanted to take him back I don’t think that’ll be a problem. So that’s a relief too. That he’ll get a happy ending, and new beginning. I’m not sure when he’ll be leaving, but I’ll try to enjoy my last time with him.

I’m really tired now. Some frustrating niggles have been going on, nothing worth writing a blog home about. Just stuff that wears on my mind a little. I’ll take a good night’s sleep and then it’s back to the goat future.

First photos, though.

Lock up your goat daughters, the boys are back in town.

So good seeing Kamel get her appetite back.

Mia and Palle on the bench.

Bruce posing with the boy who called me Ali. His name is Abdul. He’s a really good kid. Always comes and says hello to me and the goats.

Nurse Mia taking care of Kamel.

I think she feels that I have spent too much time out of the pen lately.

Kamel out and about again.

Mia and the big guy.

Sweet Mia.

And finishing off with some photos of Herman.

And a goatlog. Which I had to split in two because after 10 years and 700 videos youtube suddenly doubts I’m a real person and wants me to verify my account. No way I’m giving Google my phone number. They ruin everything. Grumbleth. But good times with Kamel as she steadily got better and better. And hungrier. And of course adorable goat kid fun as well.

I’ll miss seeing Herman. He was such a scaredy goat when he first arrived and now he’s much more friendly. I wonder who had that affect on him????

So glad to hear Kamel is better. What a relief. I like her so much; I’m happy she is feeling better.

Silly Google. Do they not look at your videos to see that you are a real live Danish goat boy? Are they ever missing out on the good stuff!

He has certainly grown a lot. In size too. Big guy! He hasn’t left yet, but it can’t be too long now. It will be strange without him. But hopefuilly everything will be going well now!
