To Sheep Perchance To Dream

Been feeling a little blue for a couple of days. Some negative thoughts have crept in. Little buggers. I think it’s mostly because I haven’t been sleeping well. Or sleeping too much. Sometimes getting up in the middle of the night for a couple of hours and then going to bed again. And so forth and so on. Not too cleverly like. And some tummy problems. But it’s not too bad really, I am still enjoying my vacation.

It always helps to go to the playground and be with the animals. Although unfortunately there are some bad news from the playground as well. The sheep are gone. Kridte and Firs have gone back to Kurt’s place. Darn it. I will miss them. The video of Kulle and Kridte running around and baahing is one of my personal favourites. Sweet little lambs.

The good news is that there will be new lambs shortly. They will be wonderful and sweet too, I have no doubt they’ll make me happy. I do wish the playground was a bit bigger though, so they could keep more sheep there instead of always rotating the stock. Instead of taking space away from the playground to build houses they should add more space. Or maybe I should ask Kurt if I could go live with him, then I’d have all the animals I could wish for. Only one little downside to that plan, namely that Mads isn’t Kurt’s goat so he wouldn’t be there.

Life, it’s complicated eh?

As I got ready to leave the goats today I pulled out a comb to try and somewhat get my hair under control before stepping out into the real world again. As always, Mads was very intrigued by the comb. So I figured, why not give him a good combing? At least see if he likes it. And he did.

He seemed to really like it in fact. I thought maybe he would object to it, but nope. I have never really seen him being groomed at the playground, but the way he just stood still and let me do it, it seemed like he had done nothing else all his life. Only times he moved was when the comb got too close to his mouth, then of course he had to see if he could eat it. When I was done he was a very well-groomed goat indeed. I shall have to remember to comb him if I ever manage to convince the UN to let him speak before them as a representative of the goat community.

In other news, I watched the Superman Returns movie. An okay bit of entertainment. I just have the same problem with it as I have with Batman Begins. I can’t really see a reason for doing it other than to cash in on the superhero movie trend. Do we need a new Batman/Superman rebirth every 5-10 years? I didn’t care much for the casting either. Kate Bosworth is not Lois Lane. Kevin Spacey isn’t Lex Luthor. It just doesn’t work. For me. Lex Luthor got his money by swindling an old, dying lady? How.. common. Only his fight scene with Superman really worked for me. Supes himself was quite good. I digged the sunbathing scene above the clouds. He’s a little too geek-chique but other than that it was good. Although, he slept with Lois and then flew away to another planet? What a stud. Sleep with ’em and leave ’em. Luthor’s master plan was real estate? And why was Superman’s cape dark purple almost? Maybe bright red is too campy, but dammit it’s Superman. Anyway, despite it all it was a good popcorn flick. Just leaves me with the question. Why? And the feeling that the only answer is “Money”.

Whatever happened to Nicholas Cage playing Superman, by the way? That would have been something.

Another insightful movie review by Plume.

Hmm, maybe I should make a movie review site with the goats. M&M At The Movies. Mads and Magnethe review the latest blockbusters. I should think about that I should.

I’ma go put on my thinking hat. Bye bye.

It’s “rotating the flock” not rotating the stock! (Ha, ha) Sorry, I couldn’t resist.

John-Boy and Billy love to be groomed. In the spring when they are shedding their winter coats, I comb and comb them. I get enough hair/fur to make another two goats!

Just a suggestion – try going back to your “normal” schedule of getting up, going to work, eating when you regularly do, visiting the playground, and going to bed at the regular time.

I know vacation means doing things differently at different times, but sometimes doing too many things off schedule can affect your emotions (sad feelings, etc.) It does to me anyway.

I like a certain amount of routine and schedules, but with some spontaneous things so I don’t get bored. If I have control over eating, sleeping, etc., at regular times, then it’s easier for me to handle unexpected/different things without stressing out. Too many things different or out of the ordinary makes Deb stressed and/or depressed.

Remember the word “HALT”. When you’re feeling down, ask yourself these questions: Am I “Hungry”? Am I Angry? Am I Lonely? or Am I Tired? HALT Sometimes the problem can be solved by taking action on one or two of these questions. Then it doesn’t get to be a BIG problem.

Try it and let me know how it works for you, Dear Danish Goat Boy.

  2. Plume Says:

Deb – HALT! Don’t make fun of me! I will rotate my potatoes. Err something.
I wonder if Mads and Magnethe would produce enough wool for me to sell it and get rich? I can try. I like grooming them, I think I shall do it more often.
I have been thinking the same things about my schedule yes. I will try to get back to something like that. I am sure I will be fine. I’m feeling fine now. So maybe I have HALTED ok.

  3. Deb Says:

Maybe you could send the goat wool to Luis and have him make something wonderfully artistic?

If you ask him “pretty please”, I’m sure he’d even go as far as to make it tacky, as we all LOVE tacky! Maybe a pink flamingo covered in gray goat hair? What do I know? I’m no artist!

I know you’ll be fine. You’re doing great. Eat some “flour balls”.

PS: On my to-do list: Be spontaneous!

  4. Plume Says:

Deb – Maybe he can knit me a sweater! Hehe. Although how to make a sweater tacky enough? hmm..
Flour balls, teehee. I think I will be spontaneous and reshape them into flour squares!

  5. Luis Says:

Tacky is now our middle name! And yes, I could use goat hair in my art work. I could make a logo and it will represent our little club. Though I don’t know how to knit, I am pretty mean guy with a glue gun.

I need to be on a routine as well. If by chance, it’s disrupted to no one’s fault, then I get tired easily. I know how that is, Deb. That’s where taking care of one’s health is very important.

That’s how I became sick on Christmas. There were so many parties to go to and I often came home very late at night. The stress of shopping and cooking and just celebrating from Halloween to New Year’s Eve does take a toll.

And I made a promise that later this year when the holiday season arrives again that I’m just going to take it easy.

Sometimes I wish I led the life of Plume’s goat friends. It’s very laid back, grooming is stress-free, and all the treats one can eat.

Also, did you hear that the plastic Pink Flamingo lawn ornaments will cease to be manufactured? The company that’s making them isn’t anymore. I’m sad about that.

I see them out here hiding in bushes and poking their black bills from behind fences. And that’s even in the more pricey areas of San Diego!

    See, tackiness is everywhere!!

  6. Deb Says:

Aha! Luis is the “party animal”. Plume, you need to be taking notes from Luis about being a party animal or at least a “social animal”. Do you dress up for Halloween? I have a few times. People really act different in a costume than they do in “real” life.

I know about the pink flamingo people going out of business. Almost made me want to cry when I heard about it. My last flamingos were so battered by the wind and flying around that they weren’t salvagable. I would think the old ones would be collectible items in a few years. Darn, my chance to be a millionare are gone.

Mmmm, Luis with a glue gun, a Barbie head, and some of Mads gray goat hair. Has all the ingredients for something wildly artistic and tacky! I’ve heard of people knitting hats/scarves out of dog or cat hair. Not sure I’d want to wear my cat on my head. (But would be tacky for sure.)

    Yours truly, “Tacky Deb”

  7. Plume Says:

Luis – Hey, don’t say that! You’re not a mean guy at all! Haha. Comedy thy name is me.
I wouldn’t mind being reborn as a goat. It seems like a sweet life to me.
I wonder if there is a market for pink plastic goats? There should be!

Deb – If I can be a party goat, then it’s a deal! I have not dressed up for halloween since I was a kid. Actually, I have never dressed up for halloween since we don’t have halloween in Denmark. At least we didn’t when I was a kid. But we do have something similar where we dress up. My mum once made me a ladybug costume. A very manly, handsome ladybug costume of course.

I would like to wear Nina on my head. Not her hair, but herself. Sitting on my head. Wacky Tacky Plume!
