Of Plume And The Slight Snow
The election is over and done with and went pretty much as I had expected. The government stays in power and I have little faith in mankind. At least they lost some of their majority. msnbc article for more. I am sure you are all deeply concerned with Danish politics!
Have I mentioned how cold it is? Freeeezing. I think I am less tolerant of cold than I used to be. I have the heat turned on pretty much every day now (although not to high temperatures). And I must put on extra sweaters and scarves and gloves before going out. There is an upside, though. Yesterday it snowed for the first time! Although not a lot. Not enough for it to show up properly on pictures. But I can show you that the pond is frozen over.
The pond where I dramatically rescued that boy from drowning once. They should put me on that TV show Heroes, they should. My superpower: boring people to death by talking about Danish politics.
I was heading for the goats when it started snowing. I had gone up to the road, where the hazel trees are. To see if there were still nuts to be gathered. Most of them where gone by now but I did manage to fill up about half a plastic bag. So the goats will have treats for a while yet. Then as I walked to the playground the snow started falling. And made me smile.
The goats are not too fond of snow of course. It was snowing so little that they probably wouldn’t notice it though. But they notice the cold. When I got there I found them inside.
With Mads on the bucket. I have missed that sight! All four of them were inside there. I guess when it’s cold Mads can tolerate the company of the buck a little better.
I went out in the fold and they all came outside and joined me. I guess they don’t mind the cold so much when I’m there. Aw.
All for now, toodles.

Snow and a goat on a bucket. Can’t get much better than that, Plume. It was a little warmer here today. Warm enough to paint the trim around a window outside for a client. Won’t be too many more days left to do that, I’m afraid.
Glad to hear you voted. So do you and/or Denmark as a country want more immigrants or do you want to limit immigration? Do you feel taxes are too high or not enough services, etc.? I’m getting more and more conservative as I grow older, but I do have some liberal feelings. Maybe like the old-time Democrats here in the US a long time ago.
I’m woefully uninformed on other countries politics. I do try to keep up with our own and feel that voting is very important. Especially when I stop and think that not all people have the right/ability to vote in their own country.

Debster Oh no no no, didn’t I tell you not to get me started on politics?!
Basically… I want more immigrants, the country wants less immigrants. I want higher taxes, the country wants lower taxes.
At least that’s how it seems. No, it’s an exaggeration of course. But basically I feel that as a wealthy and highly developed country it’s our duty to do as much as we can for those in need. Whereas the government is in power because they lean on the “racism party”, as I like to call them. A political party whose main identity is tied to strict immigration laws. And as for taxes, we have one of the highest tax percentages in the world and people are naturally tired of that. Therefore a good way to buy votes is to promise lower taxes. I don’t like high taxes, but I feel that it’s better to pay high taxes than to cut welfare, to cut education, to cut funding for the elderly and the hospitals and so on. The rich get richer and the poorer get worse off.
Yes, that’s the short version. The even shorter version is: our prime minister lied to us and sent us to an illegal war. To me that should be enough to throw him out. But I’m naive like that.
