A Cold, Cold Chrimbo

Have I mentioned that my mood is something of a rollercoaster ride? Yesterday was pretty awful. And today.. was pretty good. Imagine that.

I got up fairly early. And did the dishes that I had left standing around for too long. Then I swept the floor, which I had also been meaning to do for quite a while. It was nice. Even though I am lazy by nature and want nothing more than to lie in bed all day, I must admit that ultimately it feels better to get up at a decent hour and get something productive done. Makes you feel a lot more useful and accomplished than just sleeping all day.

After that was done I went off to the playground. And naturally that made me feel even better. I may have mentioned it once or twice before, but god how I love those dear goats. They are my salvation, no doubt. I really think that anyone who suffers from depression or phobias or things like that, they should do all in their power to get some animal influence in their lives. It’s so powerful. Well, it works for me anyway.

After that I went to the old house. Helped my dad out with a few computer related things. And did some computer related things myself. Some christmas present preparation. It all went exactly as I wanted it to. One of them being my old classmate superduperstar Tina Dickow doing It’s Gonna Be a Cold Cold Christmas.

All in all a good day where things have gone like I wanted them to. Now I’m looking forward to going to bed with a good book and hoping that tomorrow will be another good one.

Oh and I got a letter from my social worker. Stating that I qualify for applicating for the retirement. So that’s good. Nothing new, but it means that the application will be officially sent to the place where those kind of applications are dealt with. So now it’s just a matter of waiting for the reply. It’s too bad that I “lost” some time because the paperwork got lost between TMU and my new social worker. But on the other hand I’m happy that the new social worker has gone along with the plan that I worked out with TMU. That he has found me to qualify for applicating. yes. It’ll probably be months before I hear anything. Fingers crossed for a good result.

Let’s finish off with some photos.

Les goatzes.

mads

Mads. I don’t know if you can tell what he’s doing? There’s a pile of hay on the ground, most likely dumped there by Per. But Mads is picky. Instead of munching on the big pile on the ground he gets up and eats off of the few strands of hay that landed up on the fence. It’s the same exact hay, from the same pile. But of course the stuff that is slightly out of reach is a lot more interesting for a goat. It’s the same kind of thing as when they chase each other away from the buckets. What they have is always less interesting than what they may get. Maybe the next bucket has the GOOD stuff! Maybe the stuff that landed up on the fence is the GOOD stuff!

magnethe

Magnethe was satisfied with just going at the pile on the ground though. I think there’s a mouth behind the hay somewhere.

buck

The buck. He’s a bit scruffy looking isn’t he? Chicks dig that, I know. Well-combed boys are boring.

vanilje

And Vanilje getting a good scratch. I have mentioned it before, but I love coming up from behind or the side and scratching them on the body. And then they slowly turn their head and look back, as if to see what it is that is causing that pleasurably feeling.

Finally, two pictures from yesterday morning. The big frosty.

frost

frost

I think it snowed a little today. But it was so little that it was hard to register. Just a tease. I hope there will be more. It would be good for my moods.

Geez there’s less than a week till christmas. I gotta get the surprise ready before it’s too late! Hurry, hurry!

A Productive Plume is a Happy Plume. You aren’t bi-polar, are you? High highs, and low lows.

I only have lows and lowers!

Glad to hear things are moving on with the retirement paperwork. Do they give you an idea when it will be official? (Probably not, I would imagine. It will just show up one day.)

What a nice song from Tina Dicow. I’ve never heard that Christmas song before. Where have I been?

Will Mr. LongEars Scruffy Buck let you comb him or would he be too afraid? He would fit right in with the grunge look in Seattle although I think grunge would probably be old school by now.

Yesterday we had fog overnight which put some pretty frost on the ice covered trees and bushes. It was so sparkly in the sunshine. Today is is much warmer and the snow/ice is melting. It will refreeze tonight and the driveway will be extremely slick in the morning.

I e-mailed you a baby picture of John Boy & Billy. They were sure cute as little goatzies! They haven’t gotten much taller, only wider! hee, hee

Sometimes doing little things helps. The rollarcoaster ride will always be there. Lucky for us, we know when it’s coming so we basically plan for it. For you it’s resting more and seeing the animals. For me, it’s resting, too, and cancelling engagements and just staying at home. And I’m sure Debster plans for it as well. So people have little ways here and there to cope when the body and mind doesn’t seem quite right at the moment.

We’re having crazy winter weather here in the States. Debster is in the thick of it in the midwest and the east coast gets it, too.

Here, in southern california, we’re a bunch of babies. It hits thirty or forty degrees and we think the world is ending. I have friends who come from the midwest, Missouri, Nebraska and they make fun of me.

“Ha! Ha! It’s not cold. I’m going surfing.” Can you believe there are dudes and dudettes who actually surf in December?? Of course, they have to wear a wetsuit. I get cold just thinking about it.

I saw the two photos with the fog and they really effected me. I often have dreams like that, where there’s fog during the day and there is nothing but gray everywhere. They haunt my thoughts many times.

Also, is Bjork well known in Denmark? Is she popular there? Do you understand her when she speaks Icelandic? I’m asking because I bought a cd of her greatest hits when I was in LA over the weekend, and have been playing her music.

I LOVE her music and have only been a recent fan of hers. I often play music when my mood is not good and I need to calm down and let my mind push those racing thoughts out of head.

Debster, do you listen to Bjork, too? She’s an acquired taste and for most people here in the States she’s known for wearing that swan dress to the Oscars a few years ago. So she’s basically a non-conformist which I like.

Debster – Maybe I am a bi polar bear. Although that’s a bit naughty.
No idea when I will find out about the retirement. Although, as I said, it’ll likely be a couple of months at least. Bureaucracy takes time. And not just spelling it.
Have you seriously never heard that song before? Wow. You need to tune your radio to the “All Christmas all the time” station, I think.
I think Mr Buck would let me comb him, I’d just have to lure him close with some food first. If I walked towards him with the comb out he’d run away, surely fearing that I’m some sort of ninja assassin with a deadly instrument in my hand!
Loved the picture! What adorable little fuzzies they were! Cute as can be.

LuisLemmings – Yes, it always helps with a plan. And a plan B and a plan C, just in case.
I can’t believe there are dudes and dudettes that surf in ANY weather. I have never tried surfing, I doubt I ever will. I’d be afraid that the ocean felt I was taunting it. And decided to take revenge. I’d rather snowboard, although I’d probably fall and break all the bones in my body anyway.
Bjork is very well known (and mostly liked I think) in Denmark. I wouldn’t be able to understand her in Icelandic though. Danish/Norwegian/Swedish is pretty interchangable (is that a word?) but Icelandic is like Greek. To me. I dig her though, she’s cool
