War And Goats
I woke up around 2:30 last night. To the smell of smoke. Pretty heavy too. Enough that I had to get up and make sure my appartment wasn’t on fire.
It wasn’t, though. But someone lit a fire down in one of the basement rooms I think. There has been a lot of fires set in Denmark recently. http://canadianpress.google.com/article/ALeqM5g3zl03ekDqgTt-qnltxnSAj6SwoQ. There’s more reading on Google News if you’re interested. But basically it’s 2nd generation immigrant youths. Restless and perhaps angry about the reprinting of the famous Mohammed cartoons? Whatever the cause, it’s not nice to feel unsafe in your own home. It’s been pretty quiet here in the neighbourhood while I have lived here. But I know that some time before I moved here there were frequent clashes between youths and police. I would rather not like the neighbourhood to turn into a warzone again.
I got a flyer through my mail slot, calling for an end to fires and violence. In three different languages. Let’s hope that helps… can’t we just all get along?
On a brighter note, today I went back to the goats. And how wonderful they are. I thought I needed distance… no, no. All wrong. I needed goats around me. Very wonderful.
Sweet Vanilje, seeming to do okay.
Magnethe has gotten even wider. Can’t be long now…
And Mads has gotten woollier. It always amuses me how those little tufts of wool just seem to randomly appear in the fur.
Mads and Magnethe sitting in the sun. I had a really beautiful moment, sitting down between them. With Vanilje rummaging through the hay in front of us. The sun shining. It was like a summer scene, only very, very cold.
It’s hard to get a good picture of oneself sitting in between two goats. But trust me, it’s a wonderful place to be. It’s not often I get to be so perfectly placed, with Mads sitting on my left and Magnethe on my right. Normally I’m lucky if I can get just one goat sitting next to me. I guess it was the sunshine that made them feel like sitting down. And maybe in Magnethe’s case the litter she is carrying. Wait, a litter is kittens innit?
Anyway. I could sit there all day. Just watch them chew their cud and relax.
A last one of Vanilje. She was kinda rolling around in the hay a couple of times, and licking/scratching down by the udder. I wonder if’s bothering her? It still makes me sad, the thought of what should have been. But she’s a beautiful goat. I hope she will get more chances in the future,
Oh yes, Poul has left the playground. No more buck. But I do believe he will be coming back at a later date. And you shall know him by the flopping ears.
And now it’s weekend. I hope it will be a quiet one.

Magnethe is getting wider. Looks like a couple of watermelons inside that goatzie! (She’s having watermelons, not “litters”) hee, hee
I saw an internet story on the violence/fires in Denmark and wondered if you’d had any in your area. Looks like you have. That’s really too bad. I don’t know how they are going to solve any of their problems by that means.
It’s going to be above freezing today with sun, and then turn colder with rain, freezing rain, sleet, and snow. Oh, joy!

Debster – Watermelons, I like that!
Yup. The worst violence has been in Copenhagen, but I’m right smack in the middle of the second worst. Gellerup in Aarhus. I hope things are going to be okay. Maybe if we got some of that rain, sleet and snow it’d scare everyone inside!
