The Colour Of Magic Goats

It is the weekend, and this is what we do.

I promised a video of the goat kids in the snow, and here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RUgXd4YEgIM. It starts off inside, with Alice trying to get Magnethe and her kids into the stall where the hatch is. Mads is getting in the way, which is causing all the commotion. Then we cut to outside. Magnethe poking her head through the hatch and deciding not to go into the snow. Unfortunately it’s not very well lighted, you can barely see her head. Damn, I liked how she was looking around skeptically at the snow. But you can see the kids’ heads just fine. And see them jump out. And you should be able to hear the little black one sneezing repeatedly as she digs into the snow. And then some general fun in the sun.

Speaking of videos, I love these little pygmies: http://youtube.com/watch?v=R7KOYkKICYo. Watch all her other videos too. I want to live there! Raising pygmies, that’d be a job for me.

Either that or a jellybean farm.

Snow goat babies! They sure seemed to take to that white stuff well.

I think today was “Show Your Human Some Love” day. Since the goats hadn’t seen me for two days, I went out this afternoon for an hour and gave them hay and played with them.

They were all lovey and cute and wanted scratches from me. John Boy jumped up on the highest spool, jumped up another 2 feet in the air, tucked his feet under himself, and did a wonderful dismount.

He looked so pleased with himself after I told him what a good boy he was, he did the jump two more times. I got Frankie to jump up into the tunnel, run down to the other end, turn around and ran back out the other side and jump on to the ground.

Billy was his usual “aren’t I cute just standing here” goat, although he did jump up on the spool for scratches.

Then my husband and I went back outside for another half an hour and played with them some more and shut the barn up for the night as it’s supposed to rain tonight. They were all sure sweet today for some reason.

Debster – It’s funny how quickly they came out, while Magnethe and especially Mads were much more skeptical. They’ve seen it all before. But maybe that’s why, they know they’ll get wet feetzies when they jump out!
Sounds like your goats missed your company. They were probably getting ready to make their own “get well soon” cards for you. They’re so talented, I wouldn’t be surprised if they managed it!
